To buy an official Super Mario game for Nintendo Switch, start with Nintendo’s Mario games catalog, open the specific title’s product page, and confirm its system and edition before choosing a physical or digital purchase. Nintendo lists both formats, but availability and prices can change; the individual listing is the place to verify what is currently offered.
Where to find Super Mario games for Nintendo Switch
Nintendo’s Super Mario games and merch page is a useful starting point for games featuring Mario and friends. Use its system and edition filters to narrow results to Nintendo Switch and, where shown, physical or digital formats. The catalog is a changing snapshot, so check each title’s product page rather than assuming every result is currently available in every edition.

You can also browse Nintendo’s broader games catalog, which offers physical games and digital downloads. Search results on Nintendo or another retailer can help locate a title, but Mario branding by itself does not establish that a listing is the Switch game or an official product.

- Open the title’s individual Nintendo product page.
- Check the stated platform and edition. Make sure it says Nintendo Switch if that is the system you own, and distinguish a Switch title from a Switch 2-specific edition or an upgrade.
- Confirm the format shown: physical game card or digital download. Do not mistake merchandise, a download code, or a different edition for the game you intend to buy.
- Review the current price, availability, and seller or purchase route on the listing. These can change, and third-party stock may differ from Nintendo’s.
For example, Nintendo’s Super Mario Odyssey physical product page identifies a Nintendo Switch physical edition and provides a retailer-finding route. Its digital product page lists Nintendo Switch and says Switch 2 compatibility is supported, with behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch. Nintendo describes Odyssey as a 3D Mario adventure and names Nintendo as its publisher and developer. Treat those platform details as specific to Odyssey; check the relevant page for any other game.
#1 Best Overall
- A variety of playable characters are available, some with unique attributes that affect gameplay and platforming physics.
- Younger and less-experienced players will love playing as Toadette, who is brand new to both games, and Nabbit, who was formerly only playable in New Super Luigi U. Both characters offer extra assistance during play.
- Multiplayer sessions are even more fun, frantic, and exciting thanks to entertaining character interactions. Need a boost? Try jumping off a teammate’s head or getting a teammate to throw you.
- Features a wealth of help features, like a Hints gallery, reference videos, and a Super Guide in New Super Mario Bros. U that can complete levels for you if they’re giving you trouble.
- Three additional modes—Boost Rush, Challenges, and Coin Battle—mix up gameplay and add replayability, while also upping the difficulty for players who want to try something harder. Players can use their Mii characters in these modes.

Nintendo Support’s Digital Game Purchases Through Nintendo.com FAQ says a Nintendo Account used for a digital purchase must have accessed eShop on a Switch-family system at least once. Downloading also requires a supported system, an account, an internet connection, and eShop access. The FAQ’s Americas service-country list is Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and the United States; availability and service guidance are region-specific, so check Nintendo’s current information for your country.
How to assess retailer listings and accessories
For a listing such as “Super Mario Odyssey Nintendo Switch physical game,” compare the listing with Nintendo’s product page. Check that it is the physical Switch game—not a digital code, Switch 2 edition, merchandise, or used copy—and review the seller, region, condition, stock, and price before checkout. A retailer listing is not established as Nintendo-endorsed merely because it uses Mario branding.
For controllers and other gaming accessories, Nintendo advises buyers to look for the Official Nintendo Licensed Product Seal and warns that unlicensed products may not work or may have compatibility problems. Nintendo’s guidance says: “Always look for this seal when buying video game systems, accessories, and related products.” The seal applies to licensed accessories and peripherals; it is not a complete method for authenticating a used game card.
Nintendo says authentic games can be purchased for download through Nintendo eShop on Nintendo devices and warns against unauthorized products that circumvent security measures. Its guidance does not provide a full checklist for authenticating secondhand physical cards or marketplace sellers, so do not treat branding alone as proof of authenticity.
