If the label is unavailable, connect to the router, open http://www.asusrouter.com, and use Network Map → Security Level → Status. A phone, laptop, or printer’s MAC address is a separate lookup in the client list or ASUS Router app.
What a MAC address identifies
A MAC (Media Access Control) address identifies a network interface. It normally appears as six hexadecimal pairs, for example AA:BB:CC:11:22:33.
An ASUS router can have several MAC addresses: LAN, WAN/Internet, 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and, on supported models, 6 GHz wireless interfaces. The address you need depends on the request. ASUS documentation shows separate LAN and wireless MAC fields on some models: RT-ACRH13 manual.
Find the address on the router’s label
This method requires no administrator password or network connection. ASUS says the router MAC is printed on the product label, usually on the bottom; some models place the label on the rear or elsewhere. Placement varies by model (ASUS support).

- Unplug or safely turn the router over so you can read its information label.
- Look for MAC, MAC Address, LAN MAC, WAN MAC, 2.4G MAC or 5G MAC. A tri-band model may also list a 6 GHz MAC.
- Copy all six pairs exactly, including leading zeroes. Photographing the label can prevent transcription errors.
Do not mistake the SSID (network name), Wi-Fi password, PIN, serial number or IP address for a MAC address. Some default ASUS SSIDs contain only the last two digits of a 2.4 GHz MAC, which is not enough to reconstruct the full address (ASUS support).
Find the router MAC in ASUSWRT
Use the Web GUI when you need an on-screen value or a specific interface address.
- Connect your computer or phone to the ASUS router by Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Avoid cellular data, a guest network, VPN connection or another access point during the lookup.
- Open a browser and visit
http://www.asusrouter.com. - If that address does not load, try the router’s LAN address. Common ASUS examples are
192.168.1.1and192.168.50.1, but the address may have been changed (ASUS support). - Sign in with the router administrator username and password.
- Open Network Map, select the Security Level icon, then select Status.
- Read and copy the required MAC address, preserving every hexadecimal pair. ASUS documents this path at its router-MAC support page.
Labels and menus differ between ASUSWRT versions, router modes, product families and firmware. If you do not see that exact path, look for Status, System Status or a MAC address panel. Older screenshots may not match a current interface; ASUS notes that displayed functions can vary by firmware and model (ASUS support).

Find a connected phone, computer or other device’s MAC
If an ISP, DHCP reservation or MAC filter asks for a laptop’s or phone’s MAC, do not use the router’s status-page value. Use the client information instead.
ASUS Router app
- Connect the phone to the ASUS router’s Wi-Fi.
- Open and sign in to the ASUS Router app.
- Tap Settings, then select the relevant device name.
- Read the device’s MAC address field.
The app may also show the device name, IP address, connection interface, connection quality, access time and traffic; available fields depend on the router and firmware (ASUS support).
ASUS Web GUI
- Open the router Web GUI and sign in.
- Go to Network Map → Clients.
- Choose Online, Wired or Wireless, as appropriate.
- Select the device or click its MAC address to view its details.
Which ASUS MAC address should you provide?
| Request or situation | Use this address |
|---|---|
| A form simply asks for the ASUS router’s MAC | The value on the router label or router status page; if several are shown, ask the form owner which interface is expected. |
| ISP registration for the Internet-facing hardware | Confirm whether the ISP wants the router’s WAN/Internet MAC or the modem’s MAC. |
| Identifying the router on the local network | The LAN MAC, when that is the requested field. |
| Identifying a Wi-Fi radio | The relevant 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz or 6 GHz wireless MAC. |
| MAC filtering or DHCP reservation for a phone or laptop | The client device’s MAC from Clients or the ASUS Router app, not the router’s MAC. |
| A mesh system | The MAC of the main router or the particular node being configured; each node has its own hardware interfaces. |
Never blindly submit the first address you see when an organization specifies an interface.

Troubleshooting when the address is hard to find
asusrouter.com will not open
- Confirm the device is connected to the ASUS router rather than cellular data, a guest network, VPN or another access point.
- Try the router’s actual LAN address. Check the device’s network details for its default gateway; that is usually the local router address.
- Use ASUS Device Discovery if you cannot determine the IP (ASUS support utility information).
- Try Ethernet if Wi-Fi isolation or mesh behavior prevents access.
You forgot the administrator password
Use the physical label if it is readable. ASUS does not provide a way to display an existing administrator password; forgetting the credentials may require restoring factory defaults and setting the router up again. A reset erases configuration, so treat it as a last resort (ASUS support).
The label is damaged or several interfaces appear
Use the Web GUI status page to identify the interface requested. If the label is unreadable and you cannot sign in, contact ASUS or your ISP with the exact model and serial information. For a mesh system, check the specific node rather than assuming the main router’s address applies to every unit.

Phones and computers can use a private or randomized MAC for a Wi-Fi network. ASUS says Android 10 and later and iOS 14 and later support such behavior; the same device may therefore appear as duplicated, unknown or inaccurately named, and MAC-based reservations or filters may stop matching (ASUS support). Use the device’s current network-specific MAC. If a permanent rule is essential, changing the device’s private-address setting may help, but reduces that privacy feature and should follow your network policy.

Advanced fallback: identify the local router neighbor
When you only need to associate a local IP with a nearby MAC, you can run arp -a on Windows, macOS or Linux, or ip neigh on macOS/Linux systems that support it. These commands may show the router’s LAN neighbor entry, but they cannot reliably reveal its WAN or wireless-radio MAC and may list other network devices. Prefer the label or ASUS status page for authoritative interface information.
Security and privacy notes
- A MAC address is not the router’s IP address and is not the Wi-Fi password.
- Knowing a MAC alone normally does not provide router-login access.
- Avoid publishing your home router’s MAC unnecessarily.
- Finding a MAC is different from changing or cloning one; do not alter it merely to complete a lookup.
- When an ISP asks for a MAC, verify whether it means the router, modem or WAN interface.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is an ASUS router’s MAC address the same as its IP address?
No. The IP address identifies the router’s network location; the MAC identifies a hardware network interface.
Can I find the router MAC without logging in?
Yes. Read the MAC label on the router’s bottom, back or other product-information panel.

Where is the MAC address on an ASUS ZenWiFi node?
Check that node’s own product label. Mesh nodes have separate hardware addresses, so do not assume the main router’s MAC applies.
Which MAC address should I give my ISP?
Ask whether it needs the router’s WAN/Internet MAC, the LAN MAC, or the modem’s MAC. Use the exact interface requested.
Why does my phone appear twice in ASUS Router?
Private or randomized Wi-Fi MAC addressing can make one phone appear under multiple entries or an unknown name. ASUS documents this behavior at https://www.asus.com/us/support/faq/1044277/.
Can Windows or Mac reveal the ASUS router MAC?
arp -a or ip neigh can show a local neighbor’s MAC, but these commands are limited to local relationships and do not reliably show WAN or wireless-radio addresses.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Is the MAC address printed on the Wi-Fi label?
Sometimes an SSID includes the final digits of a MAC, but that is not the complete address. Use the explicit MAC field on the product label.
Does resetting the router change its MAC address?
A factory reset changes configuration, not normally the factory hardware address. It does erase settings and should not be used solely to locate the MAC.
