Wizards of the Coast released four official Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes Commander decks on June 26, 2026: Avengers Assemble, Wakanda Forever, The Fantastic Four, and Doom Prevails. To find the right one, start with your favorite character, search that character in Wizards’ complete decklist, then compare the deck’s color identity, face commander, edition and current retailer price. The package name is a useful clue, but the official card list is the final check.
Wizards published the decklists on June 11, 2026, so you can verify the contents before buying rather than relying on a store photograph or a movie-inspired assumption. The products have already released, which means current availability and street pricing may differ from the original launch information.

The four Marvel Commander decks at a glance
All four products are ready-to-play, 100-card Commander decks. Three have one traditional-foil face commander and 99 nonfoil cards. The Fantastic Four instead has four traditional-foil face commanders and 96 nonfoil cards, giving players multiple ways to lead the deck.

Color identity is the combination of colors a Commander deck can legally use. It is a useful comparison after you identify the character you want, not a substitute for checking whether a specific character card is actually present.

A practical character-first decision tree
You can narrow the choice quickly by asking the same questions in order. First, name the exact character, including a subtitle when Wizards uses one. Next, decide whether you want that character to begin in the command zone or whether appearing somewhere in the 99 is enough. Then compare the decks whose lists contain the character. If more than one deck qualifies, use color identity, the surrounding theme and the number of commander choices as tie-breakers. Only after that should you choose standard or Collector’s Edition and compare prices.
- Start with the character, not the product art. A title such as Avengers or Doom describes a central idea, but it cannot promise every related character.
- Use the official list as a checklist. Search the list for the exact card name and note whether the card is a face commander, another legendary creature or a noncommander card.
- Separate ownership from gameplay preference. A fan may want a character for the art and collection even if another character leads the deck. Someone who wants to cast that character from the command zone needs a legal commander option.
- Compare practical product details. Confirm the 100-card count, edition, sealed condition, seller and current price before checkout.
Match a favorite character to the official decklist
Use a character-first search rather than buying the deck whose title merely sounds closest. Wizards publishes a full list for each product, and the list tells you whether your favorite character is the face commander, another legendary creature, or absent.
- Write down the exact character name. Include distinctions such as Captain America, Team Leader or T’Challa, the Black Panther, because a Marvel character can appear in more than one version or card treatment.
- Open the official list for each plausible deck. Use your browser’s find command to search the character’s name. Check the complete list, not only the package image or a retailer title.
- Identify the character’s role. A face commander begins in the command zone and defines the deck’s leadership. A supporting card may be playable in the 99 but does not give you the same command-zone experience.
- Check all four face commanders for The Fantastic Four. That product is explicitly built around multiple members of Marvel’s First Family, so one deck can support different commander choices.
- Confirm the edition and price before paying. A standard deck and a Collector’s Edition deck share the same basic deck concept, but their card finishes and official MSRPs differ.
Captain America or the wider Avengers
Avengers Assemble is the natural first check for a Captain America fan because Captain America, Team Leader is its face commander. The list also contains Avengers including Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, Captain Marvel and Thor. If you want a particular Avenger rather than the team in general, search the official list to confirm that character’s inclusion and whether it is a commander-eligible card or a supporting card.
This distinction matters if your goal is to customize later. A deck can contain a beloved character without being designed to place that character in the command zone. Read the card’s location in the list and the commander information supplied by Wizards before assuming you can lead with it.
Black Panther and Wakanda
Wakanda Forever is led by T’Challa, the Black Panther. Its list includes Shuri, Okoye, M’Baku, Nakia and other Wakandan characters, making it the most direct thematic choice for readers whose favorite part of Marvel is Wakanda. Search for the exact character you want before assuming every notable Wakandan appears in the sealed deck.
If T’Challa is the priority, the face-commander match is straightforward. If your favorite is Shuri, Okoye or another supporting character, verify the individual card rather than treating the deck title as a complete roster.
Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm or Ben Grimm
The Fantastic Four is the clearest match for any member of the First Family. Wizards’ product material gives it four face commanders, so it is not limited to a single leader. Check the official list to see which commander best matches your preferred character and how the remaining members appear in the deck.
The four-commander structure is a meaningful buying difference, not just packaging language. It gives a Fantastic Four fan multiple official leadership choices while keeping the product a single 100-card deck. Confirm the commander names in the current list before ordering, especially if one specific member is the reason you want the product.
Doctor Doom, Loki and the villain-focused option
Doom Prevails is associated with Doctor Doom and Loki in Wizards’ deck material. The name signals its theme, but it does not prove that every Marvel villain is included. Search the full official list for Doctor Doom, Loki or another specific antagonist before purchasing.

Do not infer a complete villain lineup from the title or from a seller’s abbreviated description. A precise name search is the safest way to distinguish a card that is actually in the deck from a character used only in the product’s marketing context.
Use color identity as a second decision filter
Once the character fit is confirmed, color identity helps you choose between decks with different play patterns and deck-building possibilities. The four identities are:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Avengers Assemble: Red-White-Blue.
- Wakanda Forever: Green-White.
- The Fantastic Four: Red-Green-White-Blue.
- Doom Prevails: Blue-Black-Red.
Do not treat these colors as a ranking. They describe the cards that can legally be included under the deck’s commander and matter if you later modify the preconstructed list. A favorite character should remain the primary filter; color preference is most useful when two decks both appeal to you or when you want to build around a particular style of cards.
Why color identity matters after you buy
Color identity becomes especially relevant when you add or remove cards. A replacement card must fit the commander’s permitted colors, so a deck with four colors offers a different range of legal additions from a deck with two or three. The identity also helps you compare two decks that share a broad theme but are not interchangeable. It does not tell you whether a named character is included, whether that character is the commander or how powerful a deck will feel at a particular table. Use it as a rules and customization check, not as a substitute for the decklist.
What comes in each standard deck
Wizards describes all four standard products as ready-to-play 100-card Commander decks. The standard versions of Avengers Assemble, Wakanda Forever and Doom Prevails contain one traditional-foil face commander and 99 nonfoil cards. The Fantastic Four contains four traditional-foil face commanders and 96 nonfoil cards.
Each standard deck also includes:
- Ten double-sided tokens.
- A reference card.
- A deck box.
“Ready-to-play” means you can use the sealed deck in a Commander game without assembling a separate 100-card list first. You may still want sleeves or upgrades for long-term use, but Wizards’ cited product information does not make a particular accessory necessary.
Recommended Free Tools
The included deck box is part of the listed contents, so a listing that shows only loose cards may not represent the sealed product you intend to buy. Ten double-sided tokens cover the token cards supplied with the deck; they are not a promise that every possible token a later upgrade might need is included.
Standard versus Collector’s Edition
Choose the edition for its finish and collecting appeal, not because it represents a different Marvel storyline. Collector’s Edition products keep the 100-card structure but use surge-foil cards. The Fantastic Four Collector’s Edition has four surge-foil face commanders and 96 other cards; the other three have one surge-foil face commander and 99 other cards. Collector’s Edition tokens are foil on one side and nonfoil on the other.
| Product treatment | Face commanders | Other cards | Token treatment | Official listed MSRP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Avengers Assemble, Wakanda Forever or Doom Prevails | One traditional-foil | 99 nonfoil | Double-sided tokens | $74.99 for a Commander Deck — Wizards of the Coast, 2026 |
| Standard The Fantastic Four | Four traditional-foil | 96 nonfoil | Double-sided tokens | $74.99 for a Commander Deck — Wizards of the Coast, 2026 |
| Collector’s Edition Avengers Assemble, Wakanda Forever or Doom Prevails | One surge-foil | 99 other cards in the Collector’s Edition treatment | Foil on one side, nonfoil on the other | $159.99 for a Collector’s Edition Commander Deck — Wizards of the Coast, 2026 |
| Collector’s Edition The Fantastic Four | Four surge-foil | 96 other cards in the Collector’s Edition treatment | Foil on one side, nonfoil on the other | $159.99 for a Collector’s Edition Commander Deck — Wizards of the Coast, 2026 |
Those are Wizards’ listed MSRPs, not guaranteed current store prices. Retail listings can be higher or lower after release, and availability can vary. Compare the edition name, sealed status and card count in the listing before ordering.

The premium treatment does not turn one deck into another or add a separate character theme. If you are buying to play, the standard version supplies the same basic ready-to-play structure. If you are collecting, compare the foil presentation, the condition of the sealed box and the seller’s return policy before paying the premium.

How to buy without choosing the wrong product
- Copy the exact product name. Useful searches include “Avengers Assemble Commander Deck,” “Wakanda Forever Commander Deck,” “The Fantastic Four Commander Deck” and “Doom Prevails Commander Deck.” A broader search is “Magic The Gathering Marvel Super Heroes Commander Deck.”
- Check the seller’s edition label. Make sure the listing says standard or Collector’s Edition and does not mix a single deck with a bundle or a used opened product.
- Compare the listed contents. The product should be a 100-card Commander deck and should identify the appropriate face commander count for that deck.
- Compare the live price with MSRP. Use $74.99 and $159.99 as official reference points, while recognizing that they are not live street-price guarantees.
- Inspect availability and condition. Wizards names local game stores, TCGplayer, Amazon and other Magic retailers as purchase paths. These references do not guarantee current inventory, seller reliability or a particular price.
- Verify the character one final time. Before checkout, return to the official Wizards decklist and search for the character’s card name.
Wizards’ product page also links to store-finding and in-store-play resources. Those links can help you locate a retailer or a place to play, but they should not be read as a promise that a specific store has stock.
Read marketplace listings critically
Marketplace titles often shorten names, combine several products or use “collector” loosely. Look for a clear indication that the item is a sealed Commander deck, not a single card, a decklist printout, an opened lot or a bundle containing a different edition. Compare photographs and the written contents, but treat the official Wizards list as the authority when the listing is vague. Shipping, tax and seller-specific fees can also make a listing’s final cost differ from its headline price.
Are beginner products a substitute?
Not if your goal is a Marvel Commander deck. Wizards positions its other introductory products for different jobs:
- Beginner Box: guided learning for someone starting Magic.
- Jumpstart Boosters: mix-and-match play using themed packs.
- Welcome Decks: ready-to-play introductory decks.
These can make sense for a new player who needs to learn the rules before joining a multiplayer Commander game. They do not replace the four Marvel Commander preconstructed decks when the priority is owning a deck built around a Marvel character.
Be careful with dates when comparing products. Wizards lists July 17, 2026 for the Beginner Box Gift Bundle, which is a different product from the Marvel Commander decks released June 26, 2026. A later or earlier beginner-product date does not change the release status of the four Marvel decks.
Commander format and legality
Wizards’ release notes state that Marvel Super Heroes cards are permitted in Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Commander and other formats, while new MSC and MAR cards are permitted in Commander, Legacy and Vintage. Format rules and banned lists can change, so check the current Wizards format information before entering an event or making a legality-sensitive deck change.
For casual Commander play, the practical first step is still to use the sealed deck as supplied and discuss any house rules with the group. A card being printed for a Commander product does not automatically answer every question about a specific tournament’s current rules.
If you are buying for organized play, check the event’s current format announcement rather than relying on the product’s release notes alone. Wizards’ release-notes page was modified May 14, 2026, and a rules page or banned list can change after that date. This is a separate check from confirming that the character you want appears in the deck.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Assuming the title contains every related character
“Avengers,” “Wakanda” or “Doom” describes the central theme, not a guarantee that every comic-book or film character appears. Search the official list for the exact card name.
Confusing a supporting card with the face commander
A character can be in the 99 without leading the deck. If playing that character from the command zone matters to you, confirm the face commander or the legal commander options.
Buying Collector’s Edition for a different deck
Collector’s Edition is primarily a premium foil treatment. It is not a separate character lineup. Compare the deck name and list first, then decide whether surge-foil cards justify the additional cost for your collection.
Treating MSRP as today’s price
The official $74.99 and $159.99 figures are listed MSRPs for 2026. They do not establish a retailer’s current price, stock level or shipping cost.

Forgetting the four-commander difference
The Fantastic Four’s four face commanders change how you evaluate the box. Do not compare it with the other three as though every product contains only one face commander; verify the card breakdown shown for the edition you are buying.
A quick decision checklist
- Have I identified the exact Marvel character I want?
- Does that character appear in the official decklist?
- Is the character the face commander, one of several face commanders, or part of the 99?
- Does the deck’s color identity suit how I want to play or modify it?
- Am I buying the standard or Collector’s Edition treatment?
- Does the listing describe a sealed 100-card deck with the expected contents?
- Is the current price reasonable compared with Wizards’ listed MSRP?
- Have I checked current format rules if I plan to play in an event?
Frequently asked questions

Does Collector’s Edition add different Marvel characters?
It is a premium foil version of the corresponding deck, not a separate character theme. Verify the deck name and list if a particular character is your priority.
Where can I buy these decks?
Wizards names local game stores, TCGplayer, Amazon and other Magic retailers. Check live inventory, seller details, edition and price at the time you purchase.
Is Avengers Assemble the only deck with Avengers characters?
It is the natural first check because Captain America, Team Leader leads it and the list names Avengers such as Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, Captain Marvel and Thor. If a specific Avenger is your priority, search every relevant official list rather than assuming the title guarantees inclusion.
Can I choose any Fantastic Four member as my commander?
Wizards describes The Fantastic Four as having four face commanders representing Marvel’s First Family. Confirm the specific commander names and their legal options in the official decklist before deciding which member you want to lead.
Do I need to buy sleeves or another accessory?
No particular accessory is identified as necessary in Wizards’ product information. Each deck includes a deck box, and sleeves are an optional generic purchase if you want additional protection. Verify compatibility yourself because Wizards does not endorse a specific sleeve brand in the cited product material.
Are the listed prices guaranteed?
No. Wizards lists $74.99 for a Commander Deck and $159.99 for a Collector’s Edition Commander Deck in 2026. Those are MSRP reference points, not guarantees of current retailer price, stock, shipping or tax.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which deck is best for a Black Panther fan?
Wakanda Forever is the direct match because T’Challa, the Black Panther is its face commander. Search the official list to confirm other Wakandan characters you want.
Can I use a Marvel Commander deck straight from the box?
Yes. Wizards describes all four as ready-to-play 100-card Commander decks and includes tokens, a reference card and a deck box.
What if my favorite character is not the face commander?
Check whether the character appears in the 99 and decide whether that is enough. If you specifically want the character in the command zone, choose a deck with that character as a listed commander option.
Which edition should a player buy?
Choose the standard deck for the regular ready-to-play version. Choose Collector’s Edition mainly for its surge-foil presentation and collecting appeal, then compare the higher MSRP with current prices.
How can I avoid buying the wrong Marvel product online?
Use the exact deck name, verify standard versus Collector’s Edition, confirm a sealed 100-card Commander deck, compare the expected commander count and search the official list for your character before checkout.

The Bottom Line
Start with the character, verify the official decklist, then use color identity, commander count, edition and current price to make the final choice. Wizards’ four Marvel Commander decks are ready to play, but the exact list and today’s retailer details should decide what you buy.
