Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Alexa’s Remote Finder is documented for the Alexa Voice Remote Pro, not every Fire TV remote. If you have a Remote Pro, say “Find my remote” to Alexa or use the Fire TV app; if it does not ring, check the connection, power, batteries and pairing. You can also use the Fire TV app or certain linked Alexa devices to control your Fire TV while you search.
First, check whether your remote can ring
Amazon’s Remote Finder instructions apply specifically to the Alexa Voice Remote Pro. Do not expect a standard Fire TV remote to make a locating sound. If you are unsure which model you have, check the remote or your device records, then confirm compatibility for your exact Fire TV or Echo Show. Amazon’s compatibility information covers Fire TV streaming devices, Fire TV Smart TVs, smart TVs with Fire TV built in, and certain Echo Show models; it excludes Element and Westinghouse Amazon Fire TV Smart TVs.

Make an Alexa Voice Remote Pro ring
Before trying the finder, make sure the Remote Pro is paired with a compatible Fire TV or Echo Show, both are registered to the same Amazon account, the remote is within 30 ft (10 m), and the paired Fire TV or Echo Show is on. For a Fire TV Stick, use a dedicated power source with a compatible 5V, 1A adapter and cable. An Echo Show should use its supplied adapter.
- Use Alexa: Say “Find my remote” to an Amazon device with Alexa, or use the Alexa app.
- Or use the Fire TV app: Connect the app to the same Fire TV or Echo Show that is paired with the remote. In the app’s Remote tab, tap the Remote Finder icon if it is available.
- Wait and listen nearby: The chime can take up to 30 seconds to start. It can ring for up to five minutes, or stop sooner when a button on the remote is pressed.
On a Fire TV Smart TV, you may need to enable “Voice Commands When TV Screen is Off” to use the finder while the screen is off. The Fire TV app can send the finder voice command when Remote Pro is paired with an Echo Show, but its Remote Finder icon is unavailable for that setup.

If Remote Finder does not work
Try these checks in order, changing one issue at a time so it is easier to identify what fixed the problem.
- Restart the paired device: Unplug the Fire TV or Echo Show for one minute, then reconnect it.
- Check power: If the remote is paired with a Fire TV Stick, confirm the Stick is connected to a dedicated power source. Amazon specifies a compatible 5V, 1A adapter and cable, or equivalent, for the finder prerequisites.
- Check the remote batteries: Amazon recommends alkaline batteries. If one battery is bad, replace both.
- Repeat the exact command: Say “Find my remote.”
- Check the app connection: If you are using the Fire TV app, confirm it is connected to the same device the Remote Pro is paired with.
- Choose the right remote: If you have multiple Remote Pro remotes, use the correct remote name. Amazon says names can be managed in the Alexa app under All Devices.
- Pair the Remote Pro again: Unpair it, then pair it again with the Fire TV or Echo Show.
If the remote is generally unresponsive—not just failing to ring—use Amazon’s instructions for your specific remote generation. Reset steps differ by model. The procedure for most remotes includes unplugging the Fire TV for 60 seconds, holding Left, Menu and Back for 12 seconds, removing and restoring the batteries, and pressing Home; do not assume that sequence applies to every remote.

Control Fire TV while you look for the remote
Use the Fire TV app
The Fire TV app provides another way to control the device and can also help pair a replacement remote. For pairing without the original remote, restart the Fire TV, wait for its on-screen remote-detection message, and insert batteries into the replacement. If pairing does not begin, hold Home on the replacement for 10 seconds. The replacement still needs to be compatible with the Fire TV.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Try a linked Alexa device
A compatible Alexa device linked to the Fire TV can perform some Fire TV actions without the remote. The devices must be registered to the same Amazon account. Some controls also require current Fire TV software and the latest Alexa app, and voice control does not necessarily provide every remote function.

- Backlit for your convenience - Navigate movie night with a motion-activated backlight that illuminates buttons in dimly-lit rooms.

- Dedicated headphone button - A new shortcut to the on-screen Bluetooth menu that lets you pair your wireless headphones fast.
- Integrated TV controls - Control power, volume, plus surf live TV with dedicated channel buttons all from one remote.
If the remote is gone for good
A replacement is not required just to search for a missing standard remote. If you do replace it, check compatibility with your exact Fire TV or Echo Show before choosing a model. Remote Finder is the feature Amazon documents for the Alexa Voice Remote Pro; its compatibility varies by device, and the finder requirements still apply when using that model.
