For activities that support automatic matchmaking, press I to open Group Finder, choose Dungeon Finder, select an eligible activity and a combat role, then follow the queue prompts. For Mythic, Mythic+, and other player-assembled runs, use Premade Groups to apply to a listing or create your own group. That listing finds the players; it does not promise to transport anyone to the dungeon.
For a premade run, agree on the instance, difficulty, entrance and travel plan, then travel through the world to the dungeon portal together or separately. Blizzard Support puts the distinction plainly: “If you are unable to use the dungeon finder, you can still walk into the dungeon through the dungeon portal with a pre-made group.”

Choose the right way to find your group
There are three different ways to assemble a dungeon party in the live retail game. Picking the wrong one is the main reason players think they need a Summoning Stone or assume a group listing should teleport them.

The available activities, restrictions and interface labels change with character level, expansion campaign, season and region. Treat the current Group Finder window as the final authority for what your character can queue for.

How to queue with Dungeon Finder
1. Open the correct Group Finder panel
- Press I, the default Group Finder shortcut, or open the Group Finder button from the game’s main menu.
- Choose the Dungeon Finder option rather than Premade Groups.
- Review the activities displayed for your character. A dungeon that is not listed is not necessarily removed from the game; it may simply be outside your current eligibility.
Dungeon Finder is an automated queue. You are not advertising a custom party and you are not promising to meet other players at the entrance. The activity shown in the live tool determines what the queue can currently match.
2. Select a combat role
Choose at least one valid role that your character can perform: tank, healer or damage. The role selection controls how the matching system builds the party.
Do not confuse the group-leader indicator with a combat role. Blizzard’s support guidance specifically clarifies that a leader designation is not a tank, healer or damage selection. If you have checked only a leader-style option, the queue may still consider you to have no valid role.

3. Select a specific dungeon or a random activity
Use a specific-dungeon selection when you need one instance, and use a random option when you want the wider eligible pool. The random option can reduce the effect of a small or seasonal dungeon list, but it does not bypass level, gear, role or campaign restrictions.
Read the activity name and difficulty before confirming. A dungeon may appear for one difficulty and not another, or be present in the current seasonal pool while an older version is unavailable to your character.
4. Join the queue and follow the prompt
Confirm the queue and keep the game open for the acceptance or entry notification. When the group forms, use the prompt presented by the current interface. Queue behavior is activity-specific, so do not infer that every dungeon, difficulty or seasonal mode uses exactly the same entry flow.
Why a dungeon is missing from the queue
A missing entry usually reflects an eligibility rule rather than a broken game client. Where the interface provides an explanation, hover over the dungeon or its lock icon and read that message before changing settings.

Character level
Dungeon lists are filtered by level. A character below the required level may not see an instance at all, or may see it with an explanation of the level needed. At the other end of the scale, an older leveling activity can disappear when your character moves beyond the bracket used by that queue.
Item level
Some activities require a minimum item level. If the displayed reason cites gear, equip your strongest appropriate items and check again. Do not assume that owning a high-level item in your bags is enough; the eligibility check can depend on what your character has equipped or otherwise qualifies with in the live interface.
Role selection
A dungeon can remain unavailable if you have not selected tank, healer or damage, or if your current specialization cannot use the role you selected. Reopen the role controls, select a role you can actually perform, and then inspect the dungeon again.
Timewalking campaign while leveling below 60
For characters leveling below 60, the selected Timewalking campaign affects which older dungeons the Dungeon Finder presents. If a desired instance is absent, inspect the campaign selection and the explanation shown by the dungeon entry. Changing the campaign can change the eligible list; it does not make every dungeon available at once.
Introductory campaign quests
Some legacy character states require an introductory campaign quest before an activity becomes available. Complete the required introduction, return to Group Finder and check the lock explanation again. The exact quest and restriction can depend on how the character entered that content.
Character-boost restrictions
A recently boosted character can have temporary queue restrictions. If the lock message identifies a boost-related limitation, use the activities currently allowed to that character and check again after the restriction has ended. Creating a premade group and walking to a portal is still a possible route when the dungeon’s rules allow entry, but it does not override an instance’s level or difficulty requirements.
How to find a Mythic or other premade group
1. Open Premade Groups
- Press I to open Group Finder.
- Select Premade Groups.
- Choose the dungeon category that matches the activity you want. Category names and available filters can change with the current season and interface version.
Premade Groups is a player-created listing system. It is the normal route when you want a chosen Mythic difficulty, a Mythic+ key, or a party with requirements that automated matchmaking does not support.

2. Read the listing before applying
Check the dungeon, difficulty, stated objective and any requirements in the listing. A title can describe a particular key level, a completion run, learning, a specific achievement or another goal. Apply only when your character and your expectations match the description.

Mythic+ rating information has been used in Premade Groups, but detailed field names and filters documented for older expansions should not be assumed to be identical in the current interface. Use the fields that the live listing actually provides.
3. Apply or create your own listing
Select a suitable listing and apply, then wait for the leader to invite you. If the available groups do not fit, create your own listing. State the dungeon and difficulty clearly, describe whether the run is for completion, learning or a particular objective, and select the category that most closely matches the activity.
Creating the listing gives you control over applications; it does not create a summon or move applicants to the entrance. Once players join, you still need a travel plan.
4. Confirm the meeting point after acceptance
Before anyone enters, confirm the exact dungeon, difficulty and entrance in group chat. Ask whether players are already nearby and whether the leader expects everyone to travel together. This short check prevents a common failure: five players assembled in a listing but standing at different instances or difficulties.

How to reach a dungeon entrance without a Summoning Stone
Understand what the listing does—and does not do
A Premade Groups listing is a recruitment tool. It does not itself provide transport. Unless the game explicitly shows another method for that activity, plan to travel through the world to the dungeon entrance.
Use the world map and the instance portal
- Ask the leader to name the dungeon and confirm its difficulty.
- Locate the dungeon entrance on your world map or use the instance’s in-game location information.
- Travel to the zone by your normal movement methods, then move to the dungeon portal.
- Meet the group at the entrance, or tell the group that you are already there.
- Enter only after confirming that the portal and selected difficulty match the run.
Travel can involve different routes for characters in different expansions, so a leader’s clear zone and entrance callout is more reliable than assuming that every dungeon is in the same hub or uses the same portal.

If one player cannot queue
When Dungeon Finder is unavailable, a premade group can still enter through the dungeon portal if the character is otherwise permitted to enter. Blizzard Support explicitly describes walking into the dungeon with a premade group as the alternative to using Dungeon Finder. This is the practical replacement for waiting for a summon: assemble the party first, then travel.
Verify the difficulty at the door
Mythic, Mythic+ and other versions can use different entry rules. Check the instance difficulty before entering and resolve any mismatch in group chat. If the portal is unavailable or the game rejects entry, read the on-screen reason rather than repeatedly clicking the portal; the message may identify a level, gear, campaign or activity restriction.

Blizzard’s Midnight guidance establishes an important current rule: associated storyline quests can allow earlier dungeon access, while all dungeons become available at level 90 even without completing those quests. That is an access rule, not a promise that every dungeon appears in every queue or season.
If you are below level 90, follow the storyline requirements shown for your character or inspect the specific dungeon’s eligibility explanation. At level 90, check Group Finder again. The live tool still controls which difficulty and activity are available to your character.
Why the dungeon pool changes by season
Do not expect a permanent list of every dungeon in every mode. Blizzard’s Season 2 announcement describes a pool combining Midnight, Battle for Azeroth and Dragonflight dungeons. A future season can change that mix, and a dungeon included in one mode may not be included in another.
When planning a run, use the current season’s Group Finder list instead of relying on an old guide or a remembered location. The seasonal pool affects what can be queued, what appears in premade categories and which activities are worth listing.

Follower Dungeons place NPC companions in the party and let the player choose a role. They are intended for Normal-difficulty practice and lower-pressure learning where the feature is offered.
The Blizzard guide describing Follower Dungeons uses older Dragonflight and The War Within examples. It should not be treated as a complete Midnight dungeon list. Open Group Finder and verify which Follower Dungeons are currently displayed for your character.
When Follower Dungeons are useful
- Learning an unfamiliar dungeon layout before joining other players.
- Practicing a tank, healer or damage role without waiting for a human group.
- Checking basic mechanics and movement at Normal difficulty.
What they do not replace
Follower Dungeons do not replace a Mythic or Mythic+ premade group. If your goal is a higher difficulty or a player-selected objective, use Premade Groups and plan to travel to the entrance.
A practical decision checklist
- Want automatic matching? Press I, choose Dungeon Finder, select an eligible activity and select tank, healer or damage.
- Want Mythic, Mythic+ or a specific player-built run? Open Premade Groups, apply to a listing or create one.
- Need to reach a premade dungeon? Confirm the entrance and travel there; do not treat the listing as a teleport.
- Cannot see the dungeon? Read the hover explanation and check level, item level, role, Timewalking campaign, introductory quests and boost restrictions.
- Want to practice? Look for Follower Dungeon and verify current Midnight availability.
- Unsure whether an old guide is still accurate? Compare it with the live seasonal list and your character’s current Group Finder entries.
Common mistakes and fixes
Mistake: selecting the leader indicator instead of a role
Fix: Return to the role panel and select tank, healer or damage. Leadership and combat roles are separate settings.
Mistake: assuming every dungeon has a queue
Fix: Check whether the activity is listed under Dungeon Finder. If it is not, use Premade Groups and arrange portal travel.
Mistake: waiting for a summon after joining a premade
Fix: Ask for the dungeon entrance and travel plan immediately. Recruitment and transport are separate parts of a premade run.
Mistake: using an old dungeon list
Fix: Check the current season and live Group Finder. Midnight Season 2 includes a mixture of expansion eras, and the pool can change.
Mistake: assuming level 90 guarantees every queue
Fix: Level 90 removes the Midnight storyline requirement for dungeon access described by Blizzard, but it does not make every difficulty or seasonal activity available. Inspect the specific entry and its requirements.
What to do when the queue still fails
- Hover over the missing or locked dungeon and record the displayed reason.
- Confirm your character’s level and equipped item level meet the stated requirement.
- Check that tank, healer or damage is selected and usable by your character.
- If you are below 60, verify the selected Timewalking campaign.
- Check for an unfinished introductory campaign quest or a temporary character-boost restriction.
- If Dungeon Finder remains unavailable, form a premade group and walk through the dungeon portal, provided your character meets the instance’s entry rules.
This sequence separates an eligibility problem from a transport problem. A Summoning Stone would not fix a missing role, an incorrect campaign or a level restriction; correcting the displayed requirement will.
