If your home is damaged, protect people first, prevent additional damage only when it is safe, and report the loss to Slide promptly. You can submit a claim through Slide’s digital Claims Center, call (866) 230-3758, or email [email protected]. Slide says its digital form takes “just 5 minutes,” and it sends an email confirmation with a claim number after submission.
Keep that claim number, a dated record of every conversation, photographs, receipts, estimates, and adjuster communications. A Slide claims team member should assess your needs, followed in the coming days by contact from a claims examiner and field adjuster. Eligible policyholders can also check status and claim details in mySlide, although app access is being released gradually and currently supports policies beginning with H3, H6, or D3.

Start with safety, not paperwork
A claim can wait a few minutes while you deal with an immediate hazard. Leave the property if the structure is unsafe, and contact emergency services when necessary. Do not enter a damaged building until it is considered safe.
- Protect people and pets before attempting to inspect damage.
- If you can do so safely, take reasonable temporary steps to limit additional damage, such as stopping a water source or covering an opening.
- Do not make permanent repairs or discard damaged materials before Slide has had an opportunity to inspect, unless your policy or Slide specifically instructs you to do so.
- Photograph or record video only from safe locations. Wide room views and close-ups of individual items are both useful.
Slide’s Claims Center describes the approach as “With Slide, it’s Your Claim. Your Way.” Its practical advice is to avoid further damage and take photographs when it is safe. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) likewise advises contacting the insurer as soon as possible.

Choose the right way to report the loss
Use whichever channel lets you report promptly and describe the loss accurately. You do not need to wait for a complete repair estimate before opening a claim.
| Channel | Best use | What to expect | Record to keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| Digital Claims Center | A straightforward loss when you can enter details and upload information yourself | Slide says the submission takes “just 5 minutes.” It provides a confirmation email and claim number. | Save the confirmation email, submitted details, and any upload receipts. |
| Phone: (866) 230-3758 | Urgent questions, complicated damage, or a situation in which you need to explain the circumstances to a person | A claims representative can help you start the report and explain what information is needed. | Write down the representative’s name, the date and time, what was said, and your claim number. |
| Email: [email protected] | When you want a written description of the loss and a time-stamped message | Include your policy details and a concise description. Ask for confirmation and the claim number if they are not returned automatically. | Keep the sent message, attachments, delivery response, and every reply. |
Do not send sensitive information beyond what Slide requests. If you are unsure which channel fits the loss, calling the claims number can clarify the next step.
How to file a Slide homeowners claim, step by step
1. Gather the basic policy and loss facts
Have your policy number and declarations page available if you can access them safely. Before contacting Slide, note:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- The date and approximate time the damage occurred or was discovered.
- The suspected cause, such as wind, a burst pipe, fire, theft, or another event.
- Which rooms, structures, and personal property appear affected.
- Whether anyone was injured or the home is currently unlivable.
- Temporary steps already taken and any emergency service or contractor involved.
These notes do not have to be a final inventory. Report what you know and identify what still needs investigation.
2. Report promptly through Slide
Open Slide’s digital Claims Center, call (866) 230-3758, or email [email protected]. Tell the representative or form exactly when the loss happened, what you believe caused it, and whether there is an ongoing hazard. Prompt reporting matters because the condition of the property can change and your policy may contain notice requirements.
3. Describe the damage without guessing at coverage
Separate observed facts from assumptions. For example, say that water is visible beneath a ceiling and that a pipe appears broken, rather than declaring that a particular coverage applies. Ask Slide which forms, proof, receipts, photographs, and deadlines apply to your policy. Coverage, deductibles, depreciation, and claim deadlines depend on the policy and state.
4. Document the condition before cleanup when safe
Take a slow video of each affected area, then capture photographs from several distances. Include identifying details such as model numbers, labels, or serial numbers for damaged belongings when they are available. Do not put yourself in danger to retrieve an item or enter a compromised structure.

Retain damaged materials when practical and safe. Keep invoices and receipts for reasonable emergency work. Slide says photographs can be submitted later to claims examiners, so losing the ability to upload everything during the initial report does not prevent you from documenting the loss.
5. Take only temporary mitigation measures
Reasonable emergency steps can limit additional damage, but permanent repairs can make it harder to determine what happened. Ask Slide whether it wants to inspect before removal or replacement. Keep every receipt and photograph what the temporary work looked like before it was performed.
6. Explain whether the home is unlivable
Tell Slide if damage means you cannot safely live in the home. The claims team says it can assess needs and help when the home is unlivable. Ask what documentation is required for temporary living arrangements and what additional-living-expense limits and conditions apply to your policy; those limits are not the same for every policy or state.
7. Save the confirmation and claim number
Slide says an email confirmation and claim number follow submission. Store them in more than one place and use the same number in later messages, uploads, and calls. If you submitted by phone or email and do not receive confirmation, contact the claims team and ask for written confirmation.

What happens after you submit
Slide says a dedicated claims team member will assess your needs, help if the home is unlivable, and complete the submission. A claims examiner and field adjuster should contact you in the following days. The adjuster may inspect the property and request additional documentation before evaluating the loss.
Prepare a single folder—paper, digital, or both—with your claim number, policy documents, photographs, videos, estimates, receipts, temporary-housing records, and correspondence. Cooperate with reasonable requests and keep your own chronology. NAIC’s consumer guide (2022) advises: “Jot down notes and keep track of the dates of any conversations you have with your insurance agent or adjuster.”
A simple communication log
| Date and time | Contact | Purpose | What was requested or promised | Your next action |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Example: 17 October 2026, 10:15 a.m. | Claims examiner, name and department | Inspection scheduling | Send roof photographs and receipts | Upload documents and retain confirmation |
Record missed calls and unanswered messages as well as completed conversations. A dated chronology makes it easier to identify what is still outstanding without relying on memory.

Track a Slide claim online with mySlide
mySlide can show claim status and details, policy documents, billing information, and agent information when your policy is eligible. Slide says online access is available the day after policy issuance. Creating an account requires the primary policyholder’s exact first and last name, the property ZIP code, and the policy number.
The policyholder app listing updated September 1, 2026, says access is being released gradually and that policies beginning with H3, H6, or D3 can currently create an online account. A policy outside those prefixes may not yet be eligible, even when the policy is active.
mySlide versus calling the claims team
| Question | mySlide | Claims team by phone |
|---|---|---|
| Self-service status check | Useful when your policy is eligible and the account is active | Available when the portal cannot be used or the status needs explanation |
| Eligibility | Requires the primary policyholder’s exact name, property ZIP, policy number, and a supported policy prefix | Does not depend on creating a mySlide account |
| Clarifying a decision or request | Shows available details but may not explain why information is missing | Lets you ask what a status, estimate, document request, or deadline means |
| When access fails | Do not repeatedly guess your identity details; confirm them against the policy | Call Slide support and explain that the policy cannot be registered |
If registration fails, verify the exact spelling of the primary policyholder’s name and the property ZIP code. If the policy begins with a different prefix or access has not reached your policy, call Slide rather than assuming the claim itself is inactive.
Emergency services and contractor decisions
For eligible claims, Slide offers self-service options that can include virtual inspections and expedited payments through Venmo, PayPal, ACH, or a virtual debit card. Eligibility and availability depend on the claim and policy; ask the claims team what applies to your loss.
When emergency work is needed, Slide can connect policyholders with pre-vetted providers for water mitigation, roof tarping, roof repair or replacement, and tree removal. Slide says it will not send a vendor without your knowledge and permission.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsBefore signing with an outside contractor
Slide warns homeowners to contact it before signing another contractor’s contract. An emergency vendor’s estimate, scope, and licensing are separate from a coverage decision. Get the proposed work in writing and ask Slide how the work fits the claim before you commit.
| Issue | Slide-connected provider | Outside contractor |
|---|---|---|
| Slide approval or coordination | Can be coordinated through Slide for eligible emergency services | You must confirm with Slide what is authorized and covered |
| Scope of work | Still review the written scope and ask questions | Obtain a detailed written estimate before signing |
| Coverage | Provider involvement does not by itself guarantee coverage | Do not assume a contractor’s opinion establishes coverage |
| Licensing and responsibility | Ask who will perform the work and what warranty applies | Verify licensing, insurance, references, and the party responsible for corrections |
| Out-of-pocket exposure | Confirm deductibles, excluded work, and payment arrangements | Clarify deposits, cancellation terms, assignments of benefits, and any balance you could owe |
Do not let a contractor pressure you to sign immediately. If a roof, tree, or water condition is dangerous, take safe temporary action first and then communicate the situation to Slide.

Flood and storm-surge damage is handled separately
Slide’s Storm Center states that homeowners insurance does not cover flood. Flood or storm-surge damage should be reported to your separate flood insurer. If you do not have a flood policy, Slide directs readers to FEMA. File as soon as possible after you can safely assess the damage.
Describe the source of water carefully. Wind-driven rain, a plumbing leak, rising surface water, and storm surge can be treated differently under insurance policies. Ask both the relevant insurer and your policy documents which evidence and deadlines apply instead of assuming that every storm-related loss belongs in the same claim.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →If Slide denies or underpays the claim
A denial or estimate you believe is too low is not the end of the process, but the next step is documentation rather than an immediate repair contract.
Ask for the reasoning in writing
Request an explanation of the estimate or decision, including omitted damage, applied deductible, depreciation, exclusions, and the specific policy provisions relied upon. Compare that explanation with your declarations page and policy forms. Mark each disputed item and assemble the photograph, receipt, estimate, or expert information that supports it.
Request reconsideration with a focused package
Send a concise chronology and an itemized list of disputed points. Include competing estimates, invoices for emergency work, photographs, and any new information requested by the examiner. Ask what additional inspection or documentation would resolve each issue.
Check the appraisal clause
NAIC advises checking the policy’s appraisal provision when the disagreement concerns the amount of loss. Appraisal procedures, costs, deadlines, and what can be decided vary by policy and state; appraisal generally does not rewrite an exclusion or create coverage that the policy does not provide. Read the clause and ask Slide how it applies before starting.

Consider professional and regulatory help
A public adjuster is a private professional who represents the policyholder and charges a fee. Public-adjuster licensing and fee rules differ by state, so verify the rules before signing. An attorney may be appropriate for a complex coverage or dispute issue. Your state insurance department’s consumer-services staff may also explain complaint procedures or help you communicate with the insurer.
Best Value
Keep all estimates, receipts, photographs, correspondence, and the communication log even after a decision. Do not discard originals until the claim and any appeal or complaint process are complete.
Common problems and practical fixes
“I cannot safely inspect the property.”
Do not enter. Tell Slide that access is unsafe, follow emergency authorities’ instructions, and document only from a safe location. Ask how Slide wants the inspection arranged.
“I submitted a claim but have no claim number.”
Check the email address used for submission, including spam or filtered folders. If no confirmation appears, call (866) 230-3758 or email the claims address, state when and how you submitted, and request written confirmation.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
“The mySlide app will not let me register.”
Use the primary policyholder’s exact first and last name, the property ZIP code, and the policy number. Check whether the policy begins with H3, H6, or D3, the prefixes identified in the September 1, 2026 app listing. If access is still unavailable, call Slide support for the claim status.
“A contractor says I must sign now.”
Ask for a written scope and estimate, contact Slide before signing, and confirm licensing, insurance, payment terms, and what work is emergency mitigation versus permanent repair. Slide says it can connect eligible policyholders with pre-vetted providers and will not send one without your knowledge and permission.
“The home is unlivable.”
Tell the claims team immediately and ask what temporary-living documentation is required. Keep receipts and records, and confirm the additional-living-expense limits and conditions in your policy rather than assuming every cost will be reimbursed.
“The damage may be flood or storm surge.”
Do not assume a homeowners claim covers it. Contact the separate flood insurer, or FEMA if you have no flood policy, after making a safe assessment.

Deductibles, covered causes of loss, depreciation, claim-notice deadlines, additional-living-expense limits, appraisal rights, and public-adjuster requirements vary by policy and state. Read the declarations page and policy forms, then confirm uncertain requirements with Slide or your state insurance department. The safest process is to report promptly, preserve evidence, keep a complete written record, and ask for an explanation whenever a request or decision is unclear.
