Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Start by identifying the exact tool model, date code, purchase or delivery date, and seller, then check that product’s own DEWALT warranty terms before you open the tool or order parts. In the United States, the normal path is DEWALT’s warranty-request form, an eligible ToolServiceNet online repair, or a factory-owned or authorized service center. Parts should be selected from the exact model’s ServiceNet schematic, not from a brand-wide search.
Warranty periods and exclusions differ by product. A three-year term applies only to products that expressly include DEWALT’s three-year limited warranty package; it is not a blanket promise for every DEWALT tool.

What to collect before contacting DEWALT
A claim goes more smoothly when DEWALT can identify the product and establish when coverage began. Put these details together before starting an online request or visiting a service location:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Exact model number: Copy every letter, number, suffix, and revision marking from the rating label or manual. Similar-looking tools can use different parts and different warranty terms.
- Date code or manufacturing date: Record the code stamped on the tool. DEWALT service guidance says this can help determine eligibility when purchase information is unavailable.
- Proof of purchase: Keep the receipt, order confirmation, invoice, or other seller record. DEWALT says proof of purchase may be required.
- Purchase or delivery date: Note both if they differ. For products carrying the stated three-year package, DEWALT measures the limited warranty from the purchase date or delivery date, whichever is later.
- Seller and location: Record where the tool was bought and the state in which you want service. Some terms depend on buying from DEWALT or an authorized seller, subject to applicable law.
- Failure description: Write what the tool does, what it should do, when the problem began, and whether there was smoke, unusual noise, overheating, a drop, water exposure, or another event.
- Photos and accessories: Photograph the model label and visible damage. Do not send batteries, blades, chargers, or other accessories unless the instructions specifically request them.
Do not disassemble the tool merely to diagnose it. A claim evaluator or technician may need to see the tool in its original condition, and DEWALT warns that replacing electrical or mechanical parts during the warranty period could void coverage.

Check the warranty for the exact product
Use the warranty statement supplied for your model and the current DEWALT U.S. warranty information. The product page, manual, packaging, and warranty document may identify different packages, so verify the wording rather than assuming all tools share one term.
The three-year package is product-specific
For products that explicitly state they include a three-year limited warranty, one-year free service contract, and 90-day money-back guarantee, DEWALT’s official U.S. warranty language says:
“For all DEWALT® products stating they come with a 3-year limited warranty, 1 year free service contract, and 90 day money back guarantee, DEWALT will repair, without charge, any defects due to faulty materials or workmanship for three years from the date of purchase, or date of delivery of the product (whichever date is later).”

One-click scans. No signup required.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
That sentence applies to products carrying that stated package. It should not be rewritten as “every DEWALT tool has a three-year warranty.” Other products can have different periods, conditions, or no coverage for a particular failure.
What the warranty generally addresses
The quoted package concerns defects in materials or workmanship during the applicable warranty period. DEWALT’s terms also describe exclusions and limits, including normal wear and tool abuse. A worn brush, depleted battery, damaged housing from a fall, misuse, or another excluded condition may not qualify as a free warranty repair even if the tool is relatively new.

Seller and purchase conditions matter
Some coverage depends on purchasing from DEWALT or an authorized seller, subject to applicable law. If the tool came from a marketplace or an unknown reseller, save the transaction record and ask DEWALT whether that seller qualifies before assuming the claim is covered.
Choose the right DEWALT repair or parts route
Several official paths exist. Use the one that matches your tool, location, and goal instead of sending a part order when you actually need a warranty determination.

| ServiceNet parts lookup | Finding a confirmed replacement part after warranty status is clear | Requires the exact model; availability varies by product | Shows the model diagram, manuals, available parts, and purchase details |
A paid-repair price or a parts listing does not establish that a warranty claim is excluded. Check coverage first, then decide whether a self-directed part purchase makes sense.
How to file a DEWALT warranty claim online
- Open DEWALT’s U.S. support area and select the warranty request option. DEWALT identifies its online warranty request form as the direct way to route a warranty issue. Use the current labels shown on the support site rather than an old bookmarked form.
- Enter the exact product identity. Supply the model number and date code exactly as printed. If the form asks for a serial number, enter that as well; do not substitute a family name or marketing description.
- Enter purchase and seller details. Include the purchase or delivery date, seller, and location. Upload or retain proof of purchase in the format the form requests.
- Describe the failure factually. State the operating condition, symptom, and timing. Mention any event that could affect eligibility, such as a drop or water exposure, instead of omitting it.
- Submit and save the confirmation. Keep the request number, submitted information, photos, and any shipping instructions. Do not ship the tool until DEWALT provides the required routing information.
- Follow the assigned path. DEWALT may direct you to a service center, an online repair intake, or another product-specific process. A submitted form is not an approval; the tool and terms still determine the result.
When ToolServiceNet online repair applies
DEWALT’s support article dated April 29, 2026 describes ToolServiceNet as an online route for warranty and charged repairs on certain tools. It includes a guaranteed not-to-exceed Factory Overhaul repair price for eligible paid repairs. This is a service-intake rule, not a change to every tool’s warranty.
Geographic requirement
The ToolServiceNet route is for residents of the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. A U.S. online-repair eligibility statement should not be applied to a tool owner abroad. Customers outside the United States need the DEWALT support and warranty terms for their own country.

Products excluded from this online intake
ToolServiceNet does not accept every DEWALT product. The support article specifically excludes:

- Chargers
- Accessories
- Large tools such as mowers, large compressors, table saws, and miter saws
If your product is in one of those categories, use the warranty-request instructions or the service-center locator instead of forcing it through the online-repair form.
How to use it without losing your warranty position
- Confirm that the tool itself, not just an accessory attached to it, is an eligible category.
- Confirm that you are in one of the covered U.S. jurisdictions.
- Check the tool’s warranty package and gather proof of purchase before selecting a paid repair option.
- Enter the model and symptom accurately.
- Read whether the intake is being treated as a warranty submission or a charged repair before accepting a price.
- Keep all shipping and authorization records until the repair is complete.
A not-to-exceed Factory Overhaul price limits the quoted repair charge for an eligible paid repair; it does not promise that every failure is free under warranty.
Using a DEWALT service center
DEWALT’s service-center guidance says a technician evaluates the product for defects under the warranty applicable to that tool. Use the current DEWALT locator to find a factory-owned or authorized repair location.
- Search the locator by your address or ZIP code and confirm that the location handles your tool category.
- Call or review the center’s intake instructions before traveling. Ask what documents and accessories, if any, must accompany the tool.
- Bring the model information, date code, and proof of purchase. Proof may be required even when the date code is visible.
- Describe the symptom and usage conditions clearly. Do not authorize a paid repair until you understand whether the center is first evaluating warranty coverage.
- Request a written diagnosis or estimate if the technician finds an excluded condition or a chargeable repair.
The technician’s evaluation is the step that determines whether the observed defect falls under the applicable warranty. A service-center visit by itself does not guarantee acceptance.

How to find the correct replacement part
DEWALT directs customers to ServiceNet for model-specific diagrams, manuals, available parts, and purchase details. The support portal can also provide schematics and manuals and enable parts orders.
Use the exact model, not a broad search
- Read the complete model number from the tool label. Include suffixes and regional or kit designations.
- Enter that model in ServiceNet.
- Open the matching exploded diagram or schematic and locate the numbered component.
- Compare the diagram, description, and part number with the part physically installed in your tool.
- Check whether the part is listed as available and follow the purchase instructions shown for that model.
- Save the part number and model pairing with your receipt in case a later service visit is needed.
Two tools can share a name while using different switches, housings, gear assemblies, or electronic boards. A marketplace listing that says “fits DEWALT” is not enough evidence of compatibility; confirm the exact part number against the model schematic.
Check warranty status before ordering
DEWALT’s parts FAQ, updated September 2, 2025, states: “It is not recommended to change or replace electrical or mechanical parts if the tool is within the warranty period, as this could be voided.” In practice, pause before installing a switch, motor, controller, gear case, trigger, or other internal component. Submit the warranty request or ask a service center first. A correct part can still create a coverage problem if self-installation violates the applicable terms.
Parts that may be normal wear
Items designed to wear during ordinary use can be treated differently from a manufacturing defect. Do not assume that a worn consumable is covered simply because the tool remains within a stated time period. Let the product-specific terms and technician determine whether the condition is a warrantable defect.
What to do if the claim is not accepted
Ask DEWALT or the service center to identify the reason: expired term, missing purchase evidence, unauthorized seller, normal wear, abuse, an excluded product category, or another condition in the applicable warranty. Keep the written explanation and compare it with the warranty document for your exact model.

If the issue is missing information, supply the date code, receipt, or seller record and request that the claim be reconsidered. If the tool is outside coverage, ask for a repair estimate before authorizing work. If you decide to repair it yourself, first confirm that doing so will not affect any remaining coverage and use the model schematic to verify every part.
Do not discard the failed component, shipping receipt, or service estimate until the dispute or repair is finished. Those records establish what was submitted and what the technician observed.
Common mistakes and their fixes
| Mistake | Why it causes trouble | Better approach |
|---|---|---|
| Assuming every tool has three years of coverage | The three-year package is limited to products that expressly state it | Read the exact model’s warranty package |
| Starting with a replacement part | An internal replacement can affect warranty coverage and may be the wrong revision | Check warranty status, then confirm the part in ServiceNet |
| Using only a product family name | Near-identical models can have different schematics | Enter the complete model and suffix |
| Submitting a battery or charger through ToolServiceNet | Those categories are excluded from that online intake | Use DEWALT’s warranty or service-center instructions for the product |
| Ignoring the seller | Some terms depend on DEWALT or authorized-seller purchase | Keep the seller record and verify eligibility |
| Leaving out damage history | Abuse or accidental damage can affect coverage | Describe the condition accurately and let DEWALT apply the terms |
| Shipping before receiving instructions | The tool can be delayed or routed incorrectly | Wait for a case number, label, or destination from DEWALT |
| Applying U.S. rules outside the U.S. | Warranty and online-service eligibility vary by geography | Use the local DEWALT support channel for your country |
Which path fits your situation?
The tool stopped working during normal use and you have a receipt
Check the model-specific warranty, submit the DEWALT warranty request, and wait for routing instructions. Do not order internal parts first.
Recommended Free Tools
You have no receipt but the tool has a date code
Record the manufacturing date code and submit the request. DEWALT service guidance says the stamped manufacturing date can help determine eligibility when purchase information is unavailable, but the final determination remains product-specific.
You are in the United States and have an eligible hand-held tool
Check whether ToolServiceNet accepts the tool category and whether you prefer its online intake. Batteries, chargers, accessories, and the listed large tools require another route.
You know the tool is outside warranty and need a component
Search the exact model in ServiceNet, open its schematic, verify the numbered component and part number, and then follow the listed purchase process. If the failure involves electrical or mechanical internals and coverage might still exist, ask DEWALT first.
The tool is a mower, large compressor, table saw, or miter saw
Do not use the ToolServiceNet online intake described for eligible smaller tools. Start with DEWALT’s warranty instructions or the service-center locator for that product.
