OBS can play a sequence of local videos from a VLC Video playlist, but its documented scene Fade transition is not a setting for crossfading audio between items in that playlist. Keep Shuffle Playlist off for a fixed order; for an audio fade at each video boundary, verify a method in your installed OBS version and test the actual program output before going live.
What OBS can—and cannot—fade here
There are two different boundaries that can be mistaken for one another:

- A scene change: OBS documents Fade and Cut as scene transitions, with an adjustable transition duration. This applies when switching scenes.
- The next item in one playlist: The OBS VLC Video guide describes playlist, loop, and shuffle controls, but does not document a configurable audio crossfade between successive playlist items.
So, setting the scene transition to Fade does not establish that audio will fade between videos as a single VLC playlist advances. OBS audio filters such as Gain, Compressor, Expander, Limiter, Noise Gate, Noise Suppression, and VST 2.x are processing tools; the reviewed filter documentation does not identify a built-in per-playlist-item crossfade control. Set up an ordered VLC playlist
- Install VLC and add a source. OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC. The official guide specifies that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. In OBS, add a VLC Video source and populate its playlist with the media files you want to play. See the OBS Media Sources guide.
- Choose the playback order. Leave Shuffle Playlist off to play files in the listed order. Enable Loop Playlist only if the sequence should start again after its last item.
- Review source behavior. The VLC source settings include visibility behavior, network caching, and audio-track selection. The guide lists stopping playback when the source is not visible and restarting it when visible as the visibility default. Account for this if your scenes hide the source.
- Set scene transitions separately. Choose Fade or another transition in OBS’s scene-transition controls if you want a visual transition when switching scenes. OBS lets you change transition duration, but this is not a documented control for fading between items inside one playlist. See the OBS overview guide.
Check audio in the output your viewers will hear
Use the OBS Audio Mixer and the configured monitoring device to listen to source audio and check levels. Monitoring is useful for checking the signal path, but hearing audio locally does not by itself prove that the live program output contains the same sound.

- [XLR Mic Input] One XLR microphone input interface is set on the gaming audio mixer, which is great to up your audio quality with your XLR setup. The XLR mixer is a stepping stone to upgrade your live streaming. Audio mixer offered built-in 48V phantom power which opens up more choices for mics. Directly use it with your condenser microphone but do not solve added peripherals. (NOT available for USB mic)
- [Individual Channel Control] Gaming audio mixer for one mic recording with smooth volume slider fader take your streaming recording to a whole new level with full pleasure. Four independent channels set on the DJ mixer give audio volume of the MICROPHONE, LINE IN, HEADPHONE, and LINE OUT channels individual control. Configurable on the PC audio mixer instead of just operating on your game or streaming software.
- [Mute and Monitor] The front mute and monitor buttons but not at the back, make it easier to get the audio interface use. Ability to mute audio, the audio mixer for streaming prevents background noise from damaging your live broadcast. Real-time feedback between speaking and hearing will not distract your attention, which encourage you to speak more confidently. The sturdy-built control button allow you to operate freely and easily during live streaming.
- [Sound Effects] The computer sound mixer supports four pre-recorded customized button that can be recorded and activated at the press of button to post production. 6 kinds of voice changing modes change your output style. 12 auto tune changes the tone of your voice. The podcast mixer being able to add different and fun effects is a huge bonus for your streaming or game voice.
- [Controllable Vibrant RGB] RGB button on the audio mixer DJ meets different live streaming themes. Lights on the video mixer is vibrant but not harsh on your eyes. Flowing or frozen RGB color rotation in a decent pace presents a greatly strong impression as a "light show" to your audience. Even a streaming equipment accessory will not be dull looking when video production.
- Confirm the VLC source is audible in the mixer and that its audio track is the intended one.
- Listen through the configured monitoring device at more than one point in the signal path, following the OBS Audio Mixer Guide.
- Make an OBS recording or run a private test stream, then play it back and listen across the boundary between two playlist items. Confirm both that the next video advances and that the audience-facing audio behaves as intended.
If you need an audio crossfade at every item boundary
Do not assume that a scene Fade or a Stinger transition provides the requested effect inside a single VLC playlist. A community forum discussion describes audio fade-style choices for Stinger transitions, including fading out to the transition point and fading in, or crossfading. That is community guidance about a transition, not proof of a playlist-item crossfade; check the transition properties in your installed OBS version and test the complete output path. OBS forum discussion about Stinger transition audio
The exact controls available can depend on your installed build and how you arrange playback. The reviewed official playlist documentation does not state that a per-item audio-crossfade control exists. If a fade between playlist items is essential, verify the behavior in your version with a recording or private stream rather than relying on the scene transition label.

Troubleshoot playlist and fade problems
| Symptom | What to check | Fix or verification |
|---|---|---|
| The videos play in an unexpected order. | Shuffle Playlist may be enabled. | Turn shuffle off and check the file order in the VLC Video playlist. |
| The playlist stops after its final item. | Loop Playlist may be off. | Enable looping if the sequence should restart; leave it off if it should end. |
| Playback stops or restarts when changing scenes. | The source may be hidden, and VLC Video’s listed visibility default is to stop when not visible and restart when visible. | Review the source’s visibility behavior and test the scene changes you plan to use. |
| The source is silent or uses the wrong audio. | Check the VLC source’s audio-track selection and the OBS mixer. | Select the intended track, monitor the signal, and verify with a recording or private stream. |
| A scene switch fades, but playlist items do not crossfade. | Scene Fade and playlist advancement are different events. | Do not treat scene-transition duration as an item-boundary audio control. Verify any alternate transition workflow in the installed build. |
| The local monitor sounds right, but the stream recording does not. | Monitoring may not match the final program output. | Check an OBS recording or private test stream and listen to the captured output. |
