After looting Ruined Homestead, heal, check the live Blue Gate map for an active exit that fits your position, and plan for the exposed countdown: starting an extraction sends a visible signal that can attract nearby Raiders and ARC. There is no well-supported single “safest” or closest exit from the homestead, so choose using the conditions in your current raid rather than a fixed route.
Find Ruined Homestead on Blue Gate
Ruined Homestead is in southern Blue Gate beside Olive Grove. It is a small landmark; zoom in around Olive Grove if you cannot see its label. PC Gamer’s location guide also connects the landmark to the Sheltered Retreat photo objective.

Prepare before starting extraction
Extraction is not a quiet interaction. Starting it triggers a countdown and a visible signal that can alert nearby Raiders and ARC, leaving you vulnerable on the approach and while you wait. Embark’s explanation of risk and reward frames the choice as weighing further rewards against fewer, riskier ways out.
- Heal first. Avoid beginning the countdown while injured if you can recover beforehand.
- Check the live map. Confirm which exits are available under the current raid conditions and compare them with your position.
- Assess the approach. Favor a route that avoids unnecessary open ground and account for nearby ARC or player activity.
- Secure the area where practical. Clear nearby ARC if doing so is sensible before committing to the exposed sequence.
- Leave optional loot behind when the bag is already valuable. Extra time spent returning for loot may add risk without improving your chance of getting out.
A Firecracker may help cover a likely approach, and a Smoke Grenade can provide emergency concealment, but neither guarantees protection from other players. These are tactical suggestions in the extraction guide, not a substitute for choosing an exit based on the live situation.

Choose an exit from the current raid map
A current Blue Gate map guide lists these eight extraction markers: Lucky Hatch, Cliffside Airshaft, Warehouse Airshaft, Prefab Hatch, Reinforced Hatch, Forest Airshaft, Overlook Airshaft, and Fragrant Hatch. Arc Raiders AI’s Blue Gate map provides that list, while its extraction-point guide and other guides use some different marker names. Treat these as map references, not a promise that every marker will be active or named the same way in your raid.
Use the exit shown on your live map and weigh these factors yourself; the available guides do not provide comparative distances, sightlines, traffic, or ARC-threat ratings from Ruined Homestead:

- How far the route is from your current position.
- Whether the exit is active under the current map condition.
- Whether a hatch is usable with the key you have.
- How exposed the approach is and what cover is available.
- Whether nearby ARC or player activity makes the approach or countdown especially risky.
Map conditions rotate. Check Embark’s map-conditions schedule for the published rotation, then verify the actual raid map before planning around an exit. The schedule is not a substitute for checking what is active in the match you are playing.
Consider a Raider Hatch only if you can use it
Raider Hatches can provide an alternative to standard extraction routes, but current guides say they generally require a Raider Hatch Key. Special map conditions may affect availability, so check the raid rules and live map rather than assuming a hatch will be usable. The Blue Gate guides list hatch markers alongside airshafts, but their availability can vary.

Keep the photo objective separate from extraction
Ruined Homestead is also used for the Sheltered Retreat objective, which asks you to photograph a farmland house. PC Gamer’s current guide says photo objectives require an uncommon in-game camera; it describes buying one from Shani for 1.9k in-game currency, crafting it at a basic workbench with 8 Plastic Parts and 1 Wire, or obtaining one through a quest. That camera is for the photo objective; it is not needed to extract.

A Blue Gate Cellar Key guide places a key door southwest of Ruined Homestead and suggests planning an extraction on the same side of the map after that cellar run. That is useful loot-route context, not evidence that any particular exit is safer. The reviewed guides do not rank exits from the homestead or establish one universally safest route. Conditions, position, and nearby threats in the live raid should drive the choice.
