In draw.io, open the AWS architecture diagram and choose File > Export as, then select PNG or SVG. To create a PDF, choose File > Export As > PDF. Set the format options and export. Keep the editable .drawio or XML source separately if someone may need to change the diagram.
Choose the right export format
Pick a format based on how the diagram will be viewed, shared, or edited. draw.io’s export documentation describes the formats and their trade-offs.

For diagrams with fine text and lines, avoid JPEG: its lossy compression can smear detail. As a quick guide, use SVG for sharp browser viewing, PDF for printing, and PNG for straightforward image sharing.

- Open the diagram. In draw.io, choose File > Export as. In the simple editor theme, the command may be labeled Export As.
- Choose a format. Select PNG or SVG for an image. For PDF, choose File > Export As > PDF.
- Set the output options. Review the options for the selected format. The advanced export dialog can set zoom, width and height, DPI, transparent background, border width, and whether to include the grid.
- Export the file. Save it where the recipient or report workflow can access it.
Keep the diagram editable
An exported image or PDF is not a substitute for the editable source. Save a separate .drawio file or XML copy when future edits matter. PNG and SVG exports can also include diagram data when the relevant option is available. If you rely on embedded data in SVG, check that the recipient’s software preserves its metadata; some tools remove it, and pasting into Office strips it.

If PDF export fails
Use draw.io’s print route as a fallback: choose File > Print, select all pages, then choose Print to PDF or Save as PDF in the system print dialog. This is particularly useful for self-hosted installations without the PDF export service.
Use current AWS architecture icons
For recognizable AWS service symbols, use the resources on AWS Architecture Icons. AWS says customers and partners may use its toolkits and assets in architecture diagrams and other materials. It also warns that third-party libraries may contain legacy icons, so check that an installed library is current.
AWS says architecture icon packages are released in Q1, Q2, and Q3—at the end of January, April, and July, respectively—with no Q4 release. That is the stated release cadence, not a guarantee that every package arrives on schedule; consult the AWS page for the latest package.

What about Cloudcraft?
AWS lists both draw.io and Cloudcraft among its diagramming tools. Cloudcraft’s pricing page does not establish which export formats are available on each plan. Check Cloudcraft’s current product documentation or your account before depending on a specific SVG, PNG, or PDF export.
