The Guttering Hollows are reached through the Goblin Breach in Chapter I: Out of the Breach. Begin at the Forgotten Temple, work through the Goblin Lab, and enter the temporary portal that appears once the chapter opens. Inside, the fragment regenerates on every entry, while the Void eventually forces you out. Your best run therefore combines fast navigation, deliberate target selection, and equipment that helps you cross terrain before the Void closes in.
Hytale’s official release information identifies hunt sites, trackable predators, ambush-filled treasure chests, puzzles, Void assassins and valuable loot, but it does not publish a Hollows resource table, fixed coordinates, guaranteed drops, timer length or universal route. This guide separates confirmed mechanics from practical decision-making so you can search efficiently without relying on invented loot maps.

What the Guttering Hollows are
The Guttering Hollows are an unstable fragment of Orbis claimed by goblins and accessed through the Goblin Breach. They are part of Chapter I: Out of the Breach, whose opening sequence begins at the Forgotten Temple and continues into a newly available Goblin Lab.
The most important rule is that the Hollows are not a permanent, static dungeon. The official October 12, 2026 Chapter I release says the space regenerates each time you enter. The same release says the Void will eventually push you out. In practical terms, each visit is a fresh expedition with a limited window for searching, fighting and collecting what you can find.
#1 Best Overall
The July 16, 2026 preview describes the intended objective as exploring for valuable loot while fighting back the pressure to remain as long as possible. That preview predates the release, so use it to understand the design goal rather than as a source for current coordinates, timers or rewards.
How to unlock and enter the Goblin Breach
- Start at the Forgotten Temple. Explore the temple and follow the Chapter I progression into the Goblin Lab. The lab is the starting point for unlocking the chapter’s new systems.
- Open Chapter I. Continue the lab objectives until the chapter is opened. The released content describes a temporary portal appearing in the world after this point.
- Search for the temporary portal. The July preview says the portal event can occur from time to time after the chapter’s opening call is answered. Look around the world or open the world map to locate it. No official source gives fixed coordinates or a guaranteed spawn interval, so do not plan around a published location or exact countdown.
- Enter the portal. Crossing it takes you to the Goblin Breach fragment containing the Guttering Hollows. Treat the entry as the start of a self-contained run: the fragment regenerates on a later visit, so landmarks and cleared paths from an earlier attempt should not be assumed to persist.
- Set a first objective immediately. Choose whether you are going toward a hunt site, a chest, a puzzle or general exploration before moving deep into the fragment. A clear first target prevents the Void’s pressure from turning the run into aimless wandering.
What the entry information does not establish
- There is no released coordinate list for the portal or for individual Hollows locations.
- The official material does not state how often the portal appears.
- It does not say that every breach entry requires a Voidheart.
- It does not publish a required item list, crafting recipe or minimum equipment threshold for entering.
Manage the Void before chasing loot
The Void is the expedition’s time-pressure system. It eventually pushes the player out, so staying longer is not simply a matter of walking farther. The Chapter I release says you can fight back the Void and upgrade the Goblin Breach Console in the Goblin Lab to earn more time.

No official duration is provided for a standard run, and the release does not give the materials, inputs or upgrade values for the console. Because of that, use the console as a progression lever rather than planning around an assumed number of minutes. Check the current in-game objective and the console’s own interface for the requirements shown in your build.
A practical Void-management loop
- Enter with a priority. Decide which confirmed activity you want to reach first. A hunt, chest or puzzle can each require a different approach, and the time cost of detouring is unknown.
- Push back the Void when the game presents the opportunity. Fighting it back is part of the released loop, not an optional postscript. Deal with threats that block your route instead of repeatedly retreating and losing exploration time.
- Return to the Goblin Lab between expeditions. Use the Goblin Breach Console to pursue available upgrades. Since recipes and extra-time values are not published, rely on the requirements shown by your current version rather than a third-party list.
- Leave with a recovery margin. The Void’s eventual push-out is a known rule. Do not spend your final moments opening a distant chest or crossing an unfamiliar gap unless the reward is worth risking an involuntary exit.
This loop also explains why the Hollows should be treated as repeated expeditions rather than a single clear. A regenerated fragment gives you another attempt, while console upgrades can improve the amount of time available in later runs.
Choose what to search for
The release names several encounter types but does not connect any one of them to a guaranteed material. Use the map, visible landmarks and your current objective to choose targets, then record what your own version actually produces.
| Target | Confirmed behavior | How to approach it | What is not published |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hunt sites | They have a distinct hunt-site icon on the world map. Hunts beyond a breach require a Voidheart. | Use the icon to plan a route before entering or while exploring. Treat the Voidheart requirement as applying to hunts on the far side of a breach. | The release does not say that every breach entry needs a Voidheart, nor does it list hunt rewards or predator species. |
| Predators | Players can track and trap them. | Follow the hunt objective and prepare for a capture rather than assuming a simple defeat is sufficient. | Individual predators, drop tables and guaranteed resources are not identified. |
| Treasure chests | The relevant chests trigger enemy waves when opened. | Clear space and identify an escape route before interacting. Opening a chest is an encounter commitment, not a risk-free pickup. | Contents, probabilities and guaranteed materials are not stated. |
| Puzzles | Puzzles can lock off areas that cannot simply be reached by digging through them. | Look for the intended exploration obstacle and keep your route flexible. Do not waste the run trying to mine through every sealed section. | The preview does not publish solutions, puzzle types or rewards. |
| Void assassins | They hunt players in the Hollows. | Keep checking your surroundings while navigating and avoid becoming trapped in a narrow route during a fight. | The official release does not provide their statistics, spawn rules or loot. |
| Goblins | Goblins are present; some flee Void creatures unless enough allies are nearby. | Expect behavior to change with the number of nearby goblins. Do not assume every goblin group will hold its ground. | No complete faction encounter list or reward schedule is given. |
Hunt sites and the Voidheart distinction
The hunt-site icon is the clearest released signpost for a specific activity. Use it to identify a destination instead of searching randomly. The wording about Voidhearts is narrower: hunts on the far side of a breach need a Voidheart. It does not establish that every portal crossing, every hunt or every Hollows run consumes one. Keep that distinction when planning supplies.

Predator tracking and trapping
Predator encounters are described as track-and-trap activities. That means a successful run should include time to follow the objective and complete the trap, not merely locate and attack a creature. Because no predator roster or drop list has been released, the reliable goal is completion of the hunt objective and observation of the resulting reward in your own game.
Treasure chests with enemy waves
A chest that summons enemy waves changes the order in which you should act. Before opening it, identify nearby cover, a wider area for combat and a direction toward your next objective. The announcement confirms the waves, but it does not confirm a particular weapon, resource or quantity inside. Open chests because they are worthwhile objectives in your run, not because an unverified guide promises a named drop.
Puzzles and blocked routes
The preview specifically warns that some areas are locked behind puzzles and cannot simply be dug into. If a sealed route appears, treat it as an exploration problem. Search the surrounding space for the interaction or path the puzzle expects, and preserve enough Void time to leave if the solution is not immediately apparent. No official solution sequence is available, so avoid presenting one as universal.

Use the Chapter I gadgets to cover ground
The release names several in-game tools that directly support Hollows exploration. Their functions are confirmed; their crafting recipes and availability requirements are not provided in the announcement.
| Item | Released function | Best use in a Hollows run | Constraint to remember |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scrap Drill | Breaks a 2×2 patch of blocks at once. | Clear a compact obstruction or open a short route when ordinary digging would cost too much time. | The release does not state its recipe, durability or whether it is required for any particular area. |
| Scrap Glider | Allows flight, diving and climbing while deployed. | Cross vertical gaps, inspect terrain from above and reach routes that would otherwise require a long climb. | It uses stamina, so a flight route must include enough recovery capacity to avoid arriving at a gap with no mobility left. |
| Rocket Boots | Provide a double jump. | Gain extra height, clear smaller breaks and recover from awkward ledges without committing to a long detour. | The announcement does not specify fuel, cooldown or upgrade rules. |
| Hookshot and Hook Anchors | Let the player zip between points. | Cross distance quickly when suitable anchor points are available and create a retreat option near dangerous encounters. | The release does not define range, anchor placement limits or resource costs. |
| Spyglass | Zooms in on distant activity. | Inspect a far-off structure, movement or possible objective before spending time reaching it. | It is an observation tool; the announcement does not say that it identifies loot or marks resources automatically. |
| Goblin Repair Kit | Repairs items without reducing maximum durability. | Restore worn exploration or combat equipment between encounters and preserve its long-term condition. | The release does not state its recipe, repair limits or whether it works on every item. |
Pack the mobility tools around the route you actually need
You do not need to carry every named gadget merely because it exists. A glider is most valuable when the route is vertical and stamina can be managed; a Hookshot is useful when anchor points are present; Rocket Boots help with shorter elevation changes; and a Spyglass reduces unnecessary approaches. The Scrap Drill is a compact obstruction tool rather than proof that every wall should be mined. Use the Goblin Repair Kit when equipment wear threatens to end the expedition before the Void does.

No verified official table lists Guttering Hollows resources, drop rates, coordinates or guaranteed chest contents. The safest resource-finding method is therefore an observation loop that turns each regenerated run into useful information.
- Mark the objective you are pursuing. Start with the hunt-site icon, a visible chest, a puzzle entrance or another clearly identifiable point. This gives the run a measurable purpose.
- Inspect distant activity before committing. Use the Spyglass where visibility allows it. Confirm whether a structure, movement or route is worth the travel cost before crossing open ground.
- Use vertical mobility to reveal alternatives. A Scrap Glider can fly, dive and climb, while Rocket Boots provide a double jump. These tools can expose a route around a blockage without assuming that a hidden resource is present.
- Record what actually happens. Note the location type, the encounter, whether enemies appeared, and the items received. Because the fragment regenerates, an informal record helps distinguish a repeatable pattern from a one-time observation without claiming a guarantee.
- Leave when the risk exceeds the objective. A resource is not useful if pursuing it causes an involuntary Void exit or prevents you from completing the run’s primary hunt or puzzle.
Do not transplant the plains-region tree clue into the Hollows
Hytale’s world-generation team has described curated procedural patterns in which environmental details can teach players where to look. One official example says that deeproot caves containing special resources can be found under dark ash trees on the map in the plains region. That example applies to deeproot caves beneath dark ash trees in the plains; it is not a released locator for Guttering Hollows resources.

A repeatable expedition workflow
- Before entry: Check the current Chapter I objective, repair equipment if needed, and decide whether the run is for a hunt, chest, puzzle or reconnaissance.
- On arrival: Orient yourself, identify the nearest safe-looking route and note the direction of the selected objective.
- During travel: Use the Spyglass to inspect distant activity. Choose the least wasteful combination of walking, gliding, hookshot travel, double jumps and compact drilling.
- At an encounter: Prepare the space before triggering it. Chests summon enemy waves, predators require tracking and trapping, and Void assassins can hunt you while you are distracted.
- When the Void advances: Fight it back where the game provides that interaction, then reassess whether a secondary detour still fits the run.
- At the exit decision: Secure completed objectives and useful observations before attempting a distant unknown. The fragment will regenerate on a later entry, giving you another opportunity.
- Between runs: Return to the Goblin Lab and check the Goblin Breach Console for available upgrades. Apply only the requirements and benefits shown by your current game version.
Common problems and what they mean
| Problem | Likely explanation | Response |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot find the portal. | The portal is temporary and its exact location and spawn interval are not published. | Confirm that Chapter I is open, search the world and consult the world map when the event is active. Do not rely on fixed coordinates. |
| A hunt appears to require an item. | Hunts beyond a breach require a Voidheart. | Read the hunt objective carefully. Do not generalize that requirement to every portal entry. |
| A chest becomes dangerous immediately. | The released chest encounters trigger enemy waves. | Clear space and establish a retreat path before opening another chest. |
| You are spending the run digging at a sealed area. | The area may be puzzle-locked rather than mineable. | Search for the intended puzzle interaction and move on if the Void pressure makes continued investigation unsafe. |
| Your glider stops being a reliable escape. | The Scrap Glider uses stamina. | Reserve stamina for the crossing or climb you actually need instead of treating flight as unlimited. |
| A guide promises a specific resource at a coordinate. | No official Hollows resource map or guaranteed drop list has been published in the cited release material. | Use the guide only as an unverified observation, and confirm the result in your own regenerated fragment. |
What is confirmed, and what remains unknown
The current official baseline is the October 12, 2026 Chapter I release. It confirms the Goblin Breach route through the Forgotten Temple and Goblin Lab, the temporary portal, regeneration on re-entry, the Void’s eventual push-out, console upgrades that can earn more time, hunt sites, Voidhearts for hunts beyond a breach, predators, chest ambushes, puzzles, Void assassins, goblin behavior and the named exploration gadgets.
It does not confirm a Hollows resource count, a drop-rate table, a guaranteed material for any encounter, a fixed portal coordinate, a spawn schedule, a standard run duration, a console recipe, a complete predator list or recipes for the gadgets. Those details may change as Hytale’s Early Access develops. The Early Access announcement characterizes Exploration Mode as a rough, unfinished build, so older world-generation guidance should not be treated as a guarantee for every current terrain feature.
Bottom line for finding useful loot
Enter the Guttering Hollows through the Goblin Breach after opening Chapter I, pick one objective, use the map and mobility gadgets to reach it efficiently, and treat every chest, hunt and puzzle as a deliberate risk under Void pressure. The official material supports that approach, but not a fixed resource route or guaranteed drop claim. Your most reliable resource map is the one you build from confirmed encounter types and observations across regenerated runs.
