The efficient order in Guardian Tales is: choose a hero your roster actually needs, farm that hero’s stones in the highest Evolution Dungeon tier you can clear, evolve the hero, complete Limit Break when the hero is eligible, and only then pursue Myth or Hero Ascent. Myth and Ascent are separate systems with different currencies and restrictions, so neither is an automatic next step for every hero.
The exact costs, eligible heroes and level values can change by update or region. Use the live hero screen and your server’s current patch notes for final material requirements; the 2025 and 2026 announcements below are dated references rather than a substitute for the client.

What the efficient upgrade order actually is
Most accounts get better results by finishing one useful hero at a time instead of spreading scarce currencies across the entire collection. The practical sequence is:

- Farm evolution stones. The Evolution Dungeon is the documented source for hero evolution stones. Farm the highest stage you can clear consistently, while checking whether a higher tier is unlocked on your account.
- Evolve the hero. Stop spending on unrelated heroes until the target reaches the evolution stage required for its next system.
- Complete Limit Break when available. Limit Break raises the hero’s level ceiling and is required before an eligible unique hero can undergo Myth. It is also required before Hero Ascent.
- Choose a later system. Farm Myth Stones and clear the Myth prerequisites for an eligible unique hero, or use Hero Ascent on one of the selected heroes that supports it.
This order keeps the prerequisite chain intact. Evolution Dungeon farming is a way to obtain materials; Myth and Ascent are different progression destinations, not competing dungeon modes.

Choose a target from your account, not a universal list
The official material does not establish one hero who should always be first. A target that is excellent for one account may be inefficient for another because the player may lack a compatible team, weapon, support role or the content needed to justify the investment.
Questions to answer before spending stones
- Which game mode or story stage is blocking you?
- Does the hero fill a role your current team is missing, or merely duplicate a role you already cover?
- Do you own the hero’s relevant equipment and teammates?
- Can you clear the Evolution Dungeon tier that drops the hero’s stones efficiently enough to finish the project?
- Is the hero actually eligible for Myth or Hero Ascent, or would Limit Break be the endpoint for now?
Write down one primary target and, if necessary, one reserve target that uses a different stone type. This prevents a common failure mode: spending a small amount on several heroes and leaving none strong enough to change your account’s performance.
Where to farm evolution stones
Use the Evolution Dungeon. It is the documented farming route for both rare and unique hero evolution stones. The World 21 (Normal) update on April 29, 2025 published revised stage rewards, and the developer separately announced that the Level 100 Evolution Stone Dungeon drop rate increased by more than 35%.

The source table includes additional levels between 20 and 100, but the figures above are the endpoints specifically documented here. Do not turn them into a universal stones-per-stamina number: stamina costs, account access and clear conditions determine that calculation.
A practical Evolution Dungeon routine
- Open the Evolution Dungeon and identify the highest level you can clear reliably, not merely the highest level you can complete once with a lucky run.
- Check that the stage rewards the stone type your target needs. A higher stage is not useful if it produces the wrong hero category for your immediate project.
- Run enough clears to measure your own repeatable result. Record stones gained and stamina spent in the client rather than assuming a guide’s old rate still applies.
- Recheck the available tiers after story progress or account-level unlocks. A newly unlocked tier can change the best use of future stamina.
- Stop farming when the target reaches the required evolution stage, unless you have a clearly identified second hero that uses the remaining resource.
Because the official figures are stage rewards, they do not prove that Level 100 is always the best choice for every account. If your clear is slow, unreliable or locked behind progression, a lower tier that you can repeat may be the efficient short-term route.

Reach the required evolution stage before Limit Break
Limit Break is a later progression step, so first complete the evolution requirements shown on the hero’s screen. The exact number of stones and other materials is not consolidated in the official sources used here, and costs can change with patches. Read the current in-game requirement instead of copying an old total.

The 2025 level-cap announcement described the model as Level 100 by default, plus three levels for each Hero Limit Break and five levels for each Blessing. Director Robin stated: “Each Hero Limit Break increases the level cap by 3, and each Blessing increases it by 5.” The statement appears in the Director Robin’s 9th Letter, published April 14, 2025.
Those numbers describe the announced system and should be checked against your current hero screen before you treat them as live values. Do not confuse the three-level Limit Break increase or five-level Blessing increase with Myth’s separate level increase.
Limit Break checklist
- Confirm that the hero has reached the evolution grade shown as required by the client.
- Gather the currently displayed currency and materials; do not assume every hero has identical later costs.
- Complete each available Limit Break from the hero progression screen.
- Verify the new level ceiling before spending experience or other leveling resources.
- Keep a record of whether the hero is now eligible for Myth or Ascent; eligibility is system-specific.
The reviewed official sources do not provide a single current total of Hero Crystals or every material needed to max every hero. If a guide gives a universal total without identifying its patch and hero, treat it as potentially obsolete.
Should you limit break before Myth?
Yes, for a unique hero who is eligible for Myth. The official Myth update makes completed Limit Break a prerequisite. You cannot bypass that requirement by farming Myth Stones first.
Myth prerequisites
- Use a unique hero that the current client marks as eligible.
- Finish the hero’s required evolution and all Limit Break stages.
- Clear the side story corresponding to that Myth Dungeon.
- Clear the corresponding Level 100 Challenge Stage. This challenge is part of the dungeon-unlock requirement.
- Enter Rift → Myth Dungeon and farm Myth Stones when that dungeon is available.
Myth Dungeons are part of the Rift dungeon rotation. Dungeon types rotate across weekdays, while all dungeon types are available on Sunday. Plan your stamina and challenge attempts around that schedule rather than assuming Myth is permanently open every day. The official update also states that the usual x3 boost does not apply in Myth Dungeons.

What Myth provides
Myth takes an eligible hero to Grade 6, improves stats and the maximum level, opens Myth Awakening Nodes, and changes the hero’s appearance and some voice lines. The 2025 developer letter described Myth as adding 20 levels, allowing a hero to reach up to Level 150 under the announced 100-base-level model.
Some special Myth nodes require Latent Awakening Stones. The letter identifies higher-level Awakening Dungeon stages and synthesis from Legendary Awakening Stones as acquisition routes; use the current client for the exact present-day quantity and node costs.
Restrictions to understand before confirming Myth
- A hero that undergoes Myth cannot use a Training Room slot.
- A Myth hero cannot be reset with an Awakening Reset Stone.
- Myth is therefore not a harmless temporary experiment. Confirm the hero, node plan and long-term role before committing.
How to get Myth Stones efficiently
Myth Stones come from the Rift Myth Dungeon. The efficient approach is to prepare all unlock conditions first, then concentrate your available dungeon attempts during the rotation.
- Open the Rift menu and identify the Myth Dungeon tied to your target’s side story.
- Finish that side story if it is incomplete.
- Clear the matching Level 100 Challenge Stage. Completing only the side story does not satisfy the full unlock condition.
- Check the weekly rotation. Use weekdays for other dungeon types when needed, and reserve Sunday for Myth attempts if that is the day your schedule allows.
- Spend stamina only after confirming the Myth Dungeon is unlocked and producing the required stone type.
- Review the Myth progression screen after each batch of stones so you do not overfarm beyond the nodes and grade you intend to purchase.
There is no supported universal time-to-max figure. Your result depends on the rotation, stamina, account unlocks, clear level and the current live reward table. The absence of the x3 boost in Myth Dungeons is especially important when comparing a remembered event-era rate with normal farming.
Myth versus Hero Ascent
Myth and Hero Ascent are separate systems. Both come after Limit Break for the heroes that qualify, but they do not use the same currency or produce the same progression result.

Do not treat Ascent as a replacement for Myth. A selected hero may qualify for Ascent but not Myth, while Myth is described for eligible unique heroes. Check the progression tabs on the specific hero before reserving currency.

When Hero Ascent is the better next project
The official Ascent guide describes only selected heroes as eligible, using Craig as an example. The hero must have completed Limit Break, and Ascent consumes Hero Crystals to strengthen stats and open additional Awakening Nodes.

Ascent decision steps
- Open the hero’s Ascent or progression panel and confirm that the hero is currently eligible.
- Finish Limit Break if the panel shows it as incomplete.
- Read every node’s current cost in the client and reserve enough Hero Crystals for the nodes that matter to your build.
- Compare the immediate stat and node gains with the needs of your active team before committing.
- Check your region’s current patch notes if an older guide lists Stellar Essence or another material.
The Asia English patch notes dated January 20, 2026 state that Stellar Essence was removed from certain node requirements and from hero-reset returns. Because older Ascent guides may predate that change, do not copy a Stellar Essence shopping list; use the current node and reset screens on your server. Regional versions can differ.
How to allocate stamina without pretending there is one perfect rate
Stamina efficiency is account-dependent. The relevant variables are the highest Evolution Dungeon or Myth Dungeon tier you have unlocked, whether you can clear it consistently, the stone type required, and the timing of the Rift rotation.
Use this priority test
- Immediate progression: If a hero’s next evolution grade will unlock a story, raid or expedition improvement, prioritize the required Evolution Dungeon stones.
- Prerequisite completion: If your unique target is already fully evolved but not Limit Broken, spend the materials needed to finish Limit Break before collecting Myth Stones.
- Rotation planning: If Myth is unlocked but not currently available, use stamina on the next guaranteed requirement rather than spending blindly on an unrelated resource.
- Repeatability: Prefer the highest stage you can clear reliably. A theoretical top-stage reward is not useful if failed runs consume time or prevent consistent farming.
- Stopping point: Once a target reaches the grade, node or level ceiling you planned, redirect stamina to the next bottleneck.
Do not combine the published Level 100 reward values with the “over 35%” drop-rate statement to calculate an invented stones-per-stamina result. They describe different pieces of the 2025 update information.

Spreading stones across too many heroes
Symptom: Several heroes are partially evolved, but none reaches the level or grade needed for your current content. Fix: select one role-critical target, finish its evolution and Limit Break path, then reassess the roster.
Farming Myth Stones before checking unlocks
Symptom: The Myth Dungeon is missing from Rift even though the hero is ready. Fix: verify both the matching side story and its Level 100 Challenge Stage; both are required.

Assuming every unique hero can use Myth
Symptom: A unique hero has Limit Break but no Myth option. Fix: check current eligibility in the hero screen. Limit Break is necessary for eligible unique heroes, not proof that every unique hero has the option.
Using an old x3 or weekday assumption
Symptom: Your expected Myth Stone total does not match the current run. Fix: check the live rotation and remember that the official update says the x3 boost does not apply in Myth Dungeons.
Committing to Myth without reading the restrictions
Symptom: You later need a Training Room slot or an Awakening Reset Stone reset. Fix: treat Myth as a permanent strategic commitment because both options are unavailable after the hero undergoes Myth.
Copying an old Ascent material list
Symptom: A guide requests Stellar Essence that the current screen does not show. Fix: use the current regional client and account for the January 20, 2026 Asia English change removing Stellar Essence from certain node requirements and reset returns.
A compact planning worksheet
Before each upgrade session, record the following:
- Target hero and role: what team or mode the hero supports.
- Current evolution grade: the next grade shown in the hero panel.
- Evolution Dungeon tier: highest reliably repeatable level and the stone type it awards.
- Limit Break status: number of completed breaks and the current level ceiling.
- Myth status: unique-hero eligibility, side story, Level 100 Challenge Stage and Myth Dungeon unlock.
- Ascent status: selected-hero eligibility and current Hero Crystal cost shown by the client.
- Irreversible decisions: whether Myth’s Training Room and reset restrictions fit your long-term plan.
Update the worksheet after a patch, especially when the client changes a node cost, dungeon reward or eligible-hero list.
