Measure the PC’s average power draw at the wall, then multiply its kilowatt-hour use by the energy price on your electricity tariff. For a PC left on all month, the estimate is (average watts ÷ 1,000) × 720 hours × your price per kWh for a 30-day period. Use your billing period’s actual hours for a closer estimate; there is no single reliable “typical” wattage for every streaming PC.
Use this formula for a monthly estimate
Monthly energy cost = (average wall power in watts ÷ 1,000) × hours powered in the billing period × electricity price per kWh. The formula estimates the energy charges attributable to the setup, not necessarily every line on your electricity bill. Watts (W) measure power—the rate at which a device uses electricity. Kilowatt-hours (kWh) measure energy over time: a device using one kilowatt for one hour consumes one kWh.
Worked example: substitute your own figures
Suppose your measured average is 150 W and your energy rate is $0.20 per kWh. For a 30-day month:

In general, you need to set the overload power to 1800W before using. Just press the "function" button for more than 3 seconds to enter the setting
- Data Memory Function: The wattage meter will record your power consumption data when you remove it from socket, or remove appliances from the electricity monitor. You can directly see the last data when you use it next time. This function can also automatically save the data when there is a sudden power failure
- Convert watts to kilowatts: 150 ÷ 1,000 = 0.15 kW.
- Calculate energy: 0.15 kW × 720 hours = 108 kWh.
- Multiply by the rate: 108 kWh × $0.20 = $21.60 in estimated energy charges.
This is an arithmetic illustration, not a claim about the average draw of a streaming PC or a typical electricity rate. Replace both inputs with your measurement and tariff.
Use the hours in your billing period
A continuously powered setup runs for 24 × 30 = 720 hours in a 30-day period. If your bill covers a different number of days, multiply that number by 24 and use the result. For example, a 31-day period has 744 hours. If the PC is not powered continuously, use the actual hours it is on.

Measure the power your setup actually draws
Use average power measured at the wall while the PC is doing the work you intend to run. A streaming PC’s draw can change with its workload, so a power supply’s rated capacity or a component’s advertised maximum is not a substitute for average consumption.

Run the streaming software, scene or game, resolution, frame rate, and other applications you normally use. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends choosing settings that work reliably with the available internet connection; use your intended settings when measuring so the result reflects your actual workload. Get an average rather than a momentary reading
If power fluctuates, measure energy over a representative interval and divide by the interval’s hours to get average power. The U.S. Department of Energy’s Federal Energy Management Program describes this approach for fluctuating power. A plug-in electricity usage monitor may help if you do not already have a suitable meter, but the cited DOE material does not endorse a particular consumer model or establish the accuracy of any specific device. Choose what you are counting
A tower-only estimate excludes the display, lights, camera, capture device, audio equipment, and network gear. For an all-in streaming-station estimate, include whichever of those devices you want to count—measure them together where practical, or measure and add their consumption separately. Find the right electricity price on your bill
Use the energy price that applies to your account, expressed in currency per kWh. Check your bill or tariff rather than assuming a national or global average. The total bill may also include fixed monthly fees, demand charges based on peak power, or time-of-use and seasonal energy prices. Fixed fees ordinarily do not change just because the PC is running; demand charges depend on the account’s rate structure. Compare setups on an equal basis
To compare two PCs or operating schedules fairly, use the same workload and settings, measure the same system boundary (tower alone or full station), and apply the relevant hours and electricity rates to each. If rates vary by time, account for each setup’s schedule. No general official figure establishes a typical streaming-PC wattage or monthly electricity cost; YouTube’s encoder recommendations specify stream settings, not the electricity a particular computer will use.
