Accessories in Marvel Rivals are hero-specific cosmetic items. Earn Accessory Points by playing matches, redeem an accessory in the Store, and equip it to the hero it was made for. Accessories change presentation—not combat statistics—and their placement can vary with the costume you use.
What accessories are in Marvel Rivals
Accessories are cosmetic charms attached to a particular hero. They can appear on that hero’s costume and add a small animated flourish around the knockout prompt after you score a knockout or assist. They do not increase damage, health, movement speed, cooldowns, accuracy, survivability, or any other combat value.

The accessory system was introduced in the official Season 3 patch notes on July 11, 2025. Those notes describe Accessory Points as the in-game currency earned through matches and used to redeem accessories in the Shop. The development team’s December 5, 2024 monetization statement says paid cosmetics provide “only visual changes, with no stat bonuses or pay-to-win elements.” That policy is the relevant distinction when deciding whether an accessory is worth your points: you are buying presentation and effects, not a competitive advantage.
Accessories therefore sit closer to a hero customization option than to equipment. They do not occupy a gameplay loadout slot, change a hero’s abilities, or alter team composition. Their value is personal: a favorite design, a better-looking costume combination, or an animation you enjoy seeing during a match.

Hero compatibility is the first check
An accessory is not a roster-wide item. It belongs to the hero named in its listing, so an accessory acquired for one hero cannot simply be transferred to another. Check the hero designation before spending points, especially if you rotate between several characters.
The same accessory can look different from one costume to another. The charm may attach at a different body position, or its visibility may change, depending on the costume’s shape and attachment points. Treat screenshots and previews as a guide rather than a promise that every skin will display the item in exactly the same place.
This hero lock also affects how you should budget. If you mainly play one hero, an accessory for a different character has little practical value to your account unless you expect to use that character later. Open the item card, identify the associated hero, and preview the item on the costume you actually use before redeeming it.

Play matches to receive Accessory Points. The official Season 3 documentation establishes match play as the earning method, but it does not publish a permanent mode-by-mode schedule or a current earning formula.
An October 8, 2025 guide from Esports Insider listed Quick Match, Competitive, Arcade, and Practice Vs. AI as eligible modes at that time. Because that list is dated and later official patch notes do not restate it, verify the point progress shown by your current client before assuming every listed mode still qualifies in October 2026.
Do not confuse Accessory Points with a general premium currency or with an item’s availability in the Store. The points are the documented currency for redeeming accessories. A balance that is sufficient for one item does not make that item universal: you still have to meet its hero and availability requirements.
Check your current progress before planning a purchase
- Open the in-game Store or the Accessory Points entry point shown by your current version.
- Look for the points balance and any progress or weekly-limit indicator.
- Play an eligible match, then return to the same screen and confirm that the balance changed.
- Repeat until you have enough for the specific accessory you want, taking the item’s displayed cost—not an old guide’s figure—as the authority.
If a match does not change your balance, first confirm that the result has finished processing and that you played a mode currently marked as eligible. A missing increase can also mean you have reached a weekly limit; the client’s current counter is more reliable than a historical article.

For efficient planning, choose the accessory first and then track progress toward that item. Since accessories are hero-specific, farming points without deciding which hero you want to customize can lead to an impulse purchase that you rarely see in play. If the Store rotates items, also check whether the listing is currently redeemable before assuming you have unlimited time to save.
Historical prices and weekly limits
Two 2025 guides reported the following economy values. They are useful for understanding the original scale of the system, but they are not a guaranteed October 2026 price list.

If those historical numbers still applied unchanged, a 1,350-point accessory would require two weekly earning periods at a 700-point cap: one full week reaches 700, leaving 650 points for the next period. That is only a planning example, not a claim about the current cap, rollover rules, or point awards. Check the live counter instead of scheduling matches around the old arithmetic.
The official Season 9.5 patch notes, published August 5, 2026, confirm that the feature remained active by adding “The Hood Accessory – Madrecita Plush” to the Store from August 7, 2026 at 09:00 UTC. Those notes do not state the current accessory price, weekly cap, point bonuses, or complete catalog. Always read the item card and your progress indicator in-game before committing to a farming plan.
Step-by-step: buy and equip an accessory
The documented October 2025 route is Store, then the accessories area, followed by the item’s equip action. Menu names can move between seasons, so use the equivalent accessory or hero-customization entry if your client is arranged differently.

1. Open the Store
From the main menu, open Store. In the October 2025 interface, accessories were grouped under an accessories area. If you do not see that exact tab, inspect the Store’s cosmetic categories and the individual hero customization screen for an Accessory Points or accessories entry.
Do not assume that a missing tab means the feature has been removed. The August 2026 patch record confirms that new accessories were still being released. The likely issue is a seasonal navigation change, a different category label, or an item being surfaced through the hero page instead of the main Store.
2. Select the accessory for your hero
Open an item card and confirm the associated hero before selecting a purchase option. Review the displayed point cost, ownership state, preview, and any costume-specific placement shown by the client. Do not assume that an accessory visible in a general catalog is usable by the hero you currently have selected.
Use the preview to answer four questions before spending points: Is this the hero you play? Does the charm look good on your regular costume? Is the animation easy for you to notice? Is the displayed cost acceptable under the current point rules? These checks prevent the most common avoidable mistake—redeeming an item that is technically owned but rarely used.
3. Redeem it with Accessory Points
Choose the purchase or redeem control and confirm the transaction. Owned items were marked as such in the October 2025 guide. If the control is unavailable, check your balance, the item’s hero requirement, and whether the item is still available in the current Store rotation.
Pause at the confirmation screen if the game shows one. Verify the item name and hero, because the system is built around hero-specific ownership. A successful redemption should change the item to an owned state; if the balance changes but ownership does not appear, reopen the Store after the transaction has synchronized.
4. Use the equip action
After redemption, select the item again and choose Equip. The accessory is assigned to its corresponding hero rather than added to a universal inventory slot. If the purchase succeeds but the hero does not display it, return to that hero’s customization page and look for the accessory slot or owned-item list.
Buying and equipping are separate actions in the documented route. Owning the charm does not necessarily mean it is active immediately, so look for an equipped marker or a visible change in the preview. If you own several accessories for the same hero, select the one you want and confirm that the previous selection is replaced rather than displayed simultaneously.
5. Enter a match with that hero
Select the matching hero and inspect the costume in the pre-match or customization view. During play, the accessory can provide its visual flourish around the knockout prompt after a knockout or assist. The effect is cosmetic; it does not alter the event’s score, damage, or other gameplay result.
The charm may be easiest to judge in motion rather than in a static menu. Look at the hero during ordinary movement, ability use, and the knockout-or-assist prompt. If the item is difficult to see, test another costume before deciding that the equip action failed.
How accessories look and behave with costumes
Accessory placement is not necessarily fixed across every costume. Armor, coats, capes, silhouettes, and other costume geometry can make the same charm sit in a different location. Some designs may be easier to see in motion than others, while a visually busy costume can partially obscure a small item.

Use the preview for the exact hero and costume combination you intend to play. If the game offers a costume selector while previewing the accessory, cycle through the skins you own before redeeming it. This avoids spending points on a charm whose placement you dislike on your main costume.

Placement differences are not evidence of a gameplay problem. The accessory can remain equipped while appearing higher, lower, or less prominently on another skin. Compare the same hero with the intended costume in the customization view, then test in a match if the effect includes the knockout-or-assist flourish.
Choosing between two accessories
There is no documented “best” accessory because the differences are aesthetic. Make the decision with the following practical checks:
- Hero compatibility: buy only for a hero you actually intend to use.
- Design: choose the theme, shape, and color treatment you prefer.
- Placement: preview it on the costume you normally equip; location can change by skin.
- Animation: compare the knockout-or-assist flourish if the preview shows it.
- Current cost: use the live point price in the item card rather than a 2025 figure.
- Availability: confirm that the item is currently redeemable and not merely shown in a historical guide or announcement.
Since accessories do not provide combat benefits, preference and visibility are the only meaningful tie-breakers. If two items cost the same, select the one that remains readable on your chosen costume and hero.

Waiting for a preferred item is reasonable when the current listing is for a hero you seldom play.
Troubleshooting common problems
The accessories tab is missing
Seasonal interface changes can move the category. Search the Store’s cosmetic sections, then open the hero’s customization page and look for an accessory slot or Accessory Points entry. The August 2026 patch confirms that accessories were still being released, but it does not guarantee the October 2026 menu labels.
Check both the Store and the selected hero rather than repeatedly restarting. The documented route uses the Store, while recent interface layouts may expose a shortcut through customization. The exact label can differ without changing the underlying hero-specific system.
The item is visible but cannot be purchased
Check three conditions: your Accessory Points balance, the hero listed on the item card, and the item’s current availability. A catalog entry can remain visible while an item is unavailable, rotated out, or reserved for a different hero. The displayed control and balance are the authoritative checks.

You bought it but cannot find Equip
Reopen the item from the owned-items view and select it again. The October 2025 route exposed the equip action after purchase. If it is still absent, switch to the associated hero’s customization screen; the item may now be managed there rather than from the Store listing.
Make sure you are viewing the same hero named by the accessory. A universal cosmetic inventory is not the expected model for this feature, so searching from another hero’s page may hide the item even though the transaction completed.
The accessory is equipped but hard to see
Change to the costume used in the preview, then test another costume for the same hero. Placement can shift with costume geometry, and a small charm may be hidden by armor or clothing. Also look for the knockout-or-assist animation during a real match; the visible flourish is separate from the charm’s resting position.
Do not judge visibility only from a loading screen or a distant camera angle. Inspect the hero at normal gameplay distance and after the relevant knockout or assist event. If the animation appears but the charm is subtle, the item is functioning as a cosmetic effect.

Your points did not increase after a match
Wait until the match result has fully processed, then check the balance again. Confirm that the mode is currently eligible and that you have not reached the live weekly limit. The 2025 guides’ mode list and cap are historical, so do not treat them as proof of the current rules.
Use a before-and-after balance check rather than estimating from memory. If several completed matches produce no change, read any current eligibility or cap message in the Store and use that information to decide whether to continue, change modes, or wait for the limit to reset.
You expected a gameplay advantage
Accessories are not equipment in the statistical sense. They are visual customization, and the development team’s monetization statement explicitly rules out stat bonuses and pay-to-win effects for cosmetics. Equip one for its appearance or animation, not for stronger attacks, defenses, or abilities.
