To equip a Fortnite skin, open Locker from the lobby, select Character, choose an outfit, then select Back. Fortnite’s menus call skins “outfits”; the outfit you choose appears on your lobby avatar.

-

-
Open the Locker tab.

Epic’s instructions describe the same flow in its guide to changing a Fortnite outfit. Your lobby avatar reflects the cosmetics you selected there.
How to equip another item from your Locker
For a cosmetic other than an outfit, open Locker from the lobby, select the item you want, then go back. Epic’s Locker item instructions cover this general selection flow.

How to change an outfit’s style
Not every outfit has alternate styles. To check the options for an item you own, open it in Locker and select Edit. The available styles may be ready to select or may need to be unlocked; styles included in a pack appear in that item’s style list. Epic explains this in its support article about styles in Locker.
How to change the Default Outfit’s appearance
-
Open Locker, select Character, then open Outfits.
-
Find and select the hanger-and-shirt icon at the top left of the outfits list.

If the menus or styles look different
Epic’s English support instructions describe the path through Locker and Character, but Fortnite’s layout can change with updates and may look different across platforms. Look for the corresponding Locker and Character sections if the labels or arrangement on your screen differ. If you cannot find expected styles, check the item’s Edit menu: style availability is specific to the item and account. Epic also notes that in-game content features, pricing, availability, and functionality may change, and compatibility can depend on the experience or platform.

- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

Changing an outfit you already have is a menu operation; you do not need a physical product to equip it.
