To enable live streaming on a YouTube Brand Account, switch to the correct channel in YouTube Studio, complete phone verification in the channel’s feature-eligibility settings, and confirm the channel is verified and has no live-streaming restrictions from the past 90 days. Brand Account owners and managers can verify a channel’s phone number. Mobile streaming has an additional 50-subscriber requirement; that threshold does not apply to webcam, encoder, or console streaming.
Enable live streaming on the correct Brand Account channel
- Switch to the channel you want to enable. Open YouTube Studio and confirm the selected channel is the Brand Account channel—not your personal channel or another channel you manage.
- Open channel feature eligibility. In Studio, go to Settings → Channel and find the feature eligibility area. YouTube’s phone-verification guidance directs channel owners and managers to this feature area. If labels have changed, use the current feature eligibility page in YouTube Studio.
- Complete phone verification. Follow the on-screen verification prompt for that channel. YouTube lists live streaming among the features unlocked by phone verification. A Brand Account owner or manager can verify a phone number for the channel.
- Check live-stream eligibility. The channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube’s current guidance also sets a minimum age of 16 to live stream.
- Choose a streaming method. Once eligible, start from the method that fits your equipment: mobile, webcam, encoder, or console. The mobile option has additional requirements described below.

Brand Account roles: who can verify and manage a live stream?
Phone-verification authority and live-stream management are related but separate permissions. YouTube specifically says Brand Account owners and managers can verify a phone number for a channel. Its channel-permissions table separately lists Owners and Managers as able to manage live streams. Managers can also manage channel permissions in YouTube Studio.
Give collaborators access through YouTube channel permissions rather than sharing Google Account sign-in details. Do not assume that every delegated role can verify the channel or manage live streams; check the role’s listed capabilities before granting access.

Does your channel need 50 subscribers?
Only mobile live streaming has the additional 50-subscriber threshold. YouTube’s mobile guidance requires at least 50 subscribers, a verified channel, no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and mobile live streaming enabled. The first mobile stream can take up to 24 hours to become available after you turn it on.
Do not apply the mobile threshold to webcam, encoder, or console streaming: YouTube presents these as separate streaming methods with the general eligibility requirements. A computer webcam is required for the webcam method, but not to enable live streaming itself.

Choose how to go live
- Mobile: Use a phone or tablet when you meet the mobile-specific requirements. Allow up to 24 hours for your first mobile stream to become available.
- Webcam: Stream from a computer with a webcam. This is the straightforward option when you do not need an encoder-based production setup.
- Encoder: Use streaming software or production hardware when you want a more elaborate production. YouTube’s encoder guidance covers equipment-based setups.
- Console: Choose direct console streaming when you are broadcasting gameplay from a supported console workflow.

If live streaming still is not available
- The wrong channel is selected: Switch to the Brand Account channel in YouTube Studio and check that channel’s feature eligibility.
- Phone verification is incomplete: Return to the channel feature area and finish the verification prompt for the intended channel.
- The channel is not verified or has a restriction: Confirm the general eligibility conditions. A live-streaming restriction within the previous 90 days prevents streaming under YouTube’s stated requirements.
- You are trying to stream from mobile with fewer than 50 subscribers: Mobile has this additional threshold. Consider webcam, encoder, or console streaming instead if you meet the general requirements.
- You enabled mobile streaming recently: The first mobile stream may take up to 24 hours to become available. This possible delay applies to first-time mobile activation, not necessarily every streaming method.
- A collaborator cannot complete the task: Confirm that the person is an Owner or Manager where required, and use channel permissions rather than shared Google credentials.
