To get an alert when an official VCT broadcast starts, configure the channel setting and the device that delivers it. On YouTube, subscribe to the official VALORANT/VCT channel, open its bell menu, and choose All notifications. On Twitch, follow the official VALORANT/VCT channel and set its channel notifications to Always (or Go Live Only if you only want start alerts). Then allow YouTube or Twitch notifications in your browser or phone, and enable the delivery methods you actually use.
What has to be enabled for a VCT alert to arrive
A subscription or follow is only the first layer. Both services use a channel-level preference, an account-level delivery preference, and an operating-system or browser permission. If any one of those layers blocks notifications, a match can start without an alert appearing.

- Channel preference: YouTube uses the bell choices All, Personalized, and None. Twitch uses Always, Go Live Only, Personalized, and Off.
- Delivery preference: YouTube can use mobile, desktop/web, and email categories. Twitch can use onsite notifications, mobile push, and email.
- Device permission: Your phone must allow the app to notify, and a desktop browser must be allowed to show notifications. Twitch also requires a verified account email for email alerts.
The names and locations of controls can change with an app, browser, or operating-system update. If a label is slightly different on your device, look for the same channel-notification, delivery, or permission setting rather than assuming the feature has been removed.
How to turn on VCT notifications on YouTube
1. Subscribe to the official channel
- Open YouTube and go to the official VALORANT/VCT channel.
- Select Subscribe.
- After subscribing, select the notification bell beside the subscription control.
A subscription by itself does not promise an alert for every broadcast. YouTube says a new subscription automatically starts with personalized notifications, which are selected from the channel’s activity and your account signals.

2. Choose All notifications
In the channel bell menu, choose All notifications. YouTube describes this broad option as covering mobile, web, or inbox notifications for long-form uploads and live streams. That makes it the appropriate choice when missing a VCT match start is unacceptable.
Personalized is more selective. YouTube may notify you about only some uploads, Shorts, or live streams, so it is not the dependable setting for every match. None disables channel notifications while leaving the subscription in place.
3. Enable the account-level delivery categories
- Open your YouTube profile menu.
- Choose Settings.
- Open Notifications.
- Enable the mobile, desktop, and email categories you want to use.
These settings decide where YouTube is permitted to send messages. For example, selecting All at the channel does not create a desktop pop-up if desktop notifications are disabled in YouTube or blocked by the browser. Turn on only the routes you can monitor; enabling every route can create duplicate alerts.
4. Permit desktop notifications in your browser
On a computer, enable YouTube’s desktop-notification option in YouTube’s notification settings, then allow notification permission when your browser asks. In Chrome, this means allowing desktop notifications for YouTube in the browser’s site-permission controls. If Chrome’s operating-system notification permission is disabled, browser approval alone will not produce a pop-up.

After changing the permission, reload YouTube and confirm that the desktop category remains enabled. A browser profile, private window, work-device policy, or notification focus mode can independently suppress the banner even when the channel bell shows All.
5. Check YouTube notifications on Android
- Open Android Settings.
- Go to Apps & notifications (the wording may be Apps or Notifications on newer Android versions).
- Select YouTube.
- Open Notifications and enable the relevant notification categories.
- Return to YouTube and verify that the channel bell is set to All notifications.
Android can permit some YouTube categories while blocking others. If live-stream alerts are missing but other YouTube messages arrive, inspect the individual categories instead of toggling only the global app switch.
6. Check YouTube notifications on iPhone or iPad
- Open the device’s Settings app.
- Find YouTube in the app list and open its notification controls.
- Allow notifications and choose the alert surfaces you want, such as banners, Lock Screen, or Notification Centre.
- Open YouTube, go to its in-app Settings and Notifications area, and make sure the relevant categories are enabled.
- Recheck the channel bell and leave it on All.
Apple changes the exact wording and location of notification controls between iOS versions. The essential checks are that iOS allows YouTube to notify, YouTube’s own categories are enabled, and the VCT channel is using All rather than Personalized.

7. Confirm the setup before an important match
- Open the channel page and verify that the subscription is still active.
- Open the bell menu and confirm All notifications.
- Review YouTube’s account-level mobile, desktop, or email categories.
- Check the phone’s YouTube permission or the browser’s site permission.
- If you use multiple YouTube accounts, confirm that the account receiving the alert is the one subscribed to the channel.
This five-point check catches the common situation in which the channel is subscribed but a device-level permission was later revoked.
How to get VCT alerts on Twitch
1. Follow the official channel
- Open Twitch and go to the official VALORANT/VCT channel.
- Select Follow.
- Open the channel’s bell or notification control.
Following creates the relationship needed for channel alerts, but Twitch still lets you choose how broad those alerts should be and where they should be delivered.

2. Pick Always or Go Live Only on desktop
On Twitch’s desktop site, open Notifications Settings, then Manage Channel Notifications, or use the bell on the channel page. Select one of these modes:
- Always: Twitch’s broad per-channel option. Twitch Help says this setting receives all notifications for a channel. A Twitch Blog explanation published December 11, 2025, says Always includes every Go Live message, VOD update, and clip notification, for example.
- Go Live Only: The focused choice if you want an alert when the broadcast begins but do not want VOD or clip notifications.
- Personalized: Twitch selects which channel events to surface using signals such as your viewing history. It can omit a match alert.
- Off: Disables channel notifications.
Use Always when the priority is maximum coverage. Use Go Live Only when you want a clean alert stream limited to live starts and can accept that other channel events will not appear.

- Open the Twitch app and select your profile icon.
- Choose Account Settings.
- Open Notifications, then Manage Channel Notifications.
- Find the official VALORANT/VCT channel and choose Always or Go Live Only.
Twitch also documents a channel-page route: open the channel while it is live and use the bell or gear control to adjust notifications. The exact control can vary with the app version, so the account-settings route is useful when the channel is offline.
4. Choose Twitch delivery routes
Twitch separates the channel mode from the destinations that carry the alert. In notification settings, enable any combination of:

- Onsite: The notification appears inside Twitch.
- Push: The Twitch app sends an alert to a permitted mobile device.
- Email: Twitch sends messages to the account email address.
Email notifications require a verified email address on the Twitch account. Mobile push requires permission from the phone’s operating system; enabling push inside Twitch cannot override a system-level block.
5. Decide whether to use Smart Delivery
Twitch’s Smart Delivery option selects what it considers the most relevant destination instead of sending the same notification through every enabled route. This can reduce duplicate alerts when onsite, push, and email are all active. If you need redundancy—for example, a phone alert plus an email—review Smart Delivery so it does not select only one destination.

Twitch says it may turn a channel notification off after 90 days without watching or interacting with that channel. Twitch also documents different treatment for channels that had fewer than 15 notifications in the preceding 90 days. If VCT alerts stop after a long break, open Manage Channel Notifications and inspect the channel’s setting instead of assuming the follow was removed.

The practical choice is straightforward: use YouTube’s All and Twitch’s Always when you want the widest alert coverage, or Twitch’s Go Live Only when you want only broadcast-start messages.
Troubleshooting missing VCT notifications
YouTube sends some alerts but not match-start alerts
- Open the VCT channel and change the bell from Personalized to All notifications.
- In YouTube Settings → Notifications, enable the mobile, desktop, or email category you expect to use.
- On Android or iOS, check the operating system’s YouTube permission and the individual categories.
- On a computer, allow browser notifications for YouTube and check that the browser itself is not in a blocked or restricted notification state.
- If you use more than one Google account, switch to the account that holds the subscription and repeat the check.
A subscription alone defaults to personalized alerts, so it is the first setting to inspect when live notifications are inconsistent.
Twitch alerts are too selective
- Open Manage Channel Notifications and replace Personalized with Always.
- If you only need the start of a match, choose Go Live Only rather than Personalized.
- Confirm that the VCT channel is still followed and that the correct account is open.
- Review whether Twitch changed the channel setting after a long period without viewing or interaction.
The channel setting is correct, but no device alert appears
- Phone: Allow notifications for YouTube or Twitch in the operating-system settings, including the category used for live or push alerts.
- Browser: Allow site notifications and check browser-level or operating-system focus, quiet-hours, or notification-suppression controls.
- Email: Verify the Twitch account email; also check the address’s spam or filtering rules.
- Multiple destinations: Review Twitch Smart Delivery if you expected an alert on every enabled route.
- Account mismatch: Confirm that the subscribed or followed channel belongs to the account currently signed in on the receiving device.
The app or website labels do not match these steps
Notification interfaces are revised independently by YouTube, Twitch, Android, iOS, Chrome, and other browsers. Follow the same hierarchy: channel mode first, account delivery category second, device or browser permission third. If a menu has moved, search the service’s settings for notifications, manage channel notifications, or push, then verify the resulting channel state.

- Subscribe to the official VALORANT/VCT YouTube channel and set its bell to All notifications.
- Follow the official VALORANT/VCT Twitch channel and set it to Always. Choose Go Live Only if VOD and clip alerts would be unwanted.
- Enable at least one phone or desktop delivery route on each service.
- Allow notifications for the relevant app and browser at the operating-system level.
- Verify a Twitch email address if email is part of your backup plan.
- Review Twitch’s channel setting again if you have not watched or interacted with the channel for about 90 days.
Using both platforms can provide an alternative route if one app, browser, or device suppresses a notification. It also lets you choose the less noisy Twitch Go Live Only mode while retaining YouTube’s broader live-stream coverage.
Where to watch official VCT broadcasts
Official VALORANT resources direct viewers to YouTube and Twitch for official channels and viewing information. Use the verified VALORANT/VCT channel on either platform rather than relying on an unrelated restream, because channel-specific notification controls apply only to the channel you subscribed to or followed.
