For games that use AMD Software enablement, close the game, then open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition > Gaming > Graphics and switch on AMD FSR Upscaling. Some game menus still label the feature “FSR 4.” If the game integrates it natively, enable it in the game’s own graphics or video settings instead.
Check support before changing settings
AMD’s current name for the feature is AMD FSR Upscaling; some game menus may still call it FSR 4. Support is not guaranteed just because a laptop uses AMD graphics. Check the exact GPU in your laptop, your game, and the driver you have installed against AMD’s supported-games list and current technology information.

AMD lists Radeon RX 7000 and RX 9000 graphics cards for ML-based FSR Upscaling, but that general listing does not confirm compatibility with every laptop GPU, OEM configuration, or driver. AMD’s FSR Technical Preview release notes described compatibility with RX 9000 graphics products at the time of that preview; this historical preview scope should not be treated as a complete statement of current laptop support. Choose the right enablement route
| Route | Where to enable it | When it applies |

Enable FSR through AMD Software
- Install a supported game, then close it before changing the driver setting.
- Open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition and select Gaming.
- Open the Graphics subtab.
- Turn on AMD FSR Upscaling. Where supported, Frame Generation is a separate optional toggle, not the upscaling switch.
- Launch the game. In its graphics or video options, enable FSR 3.1 if it is not already enabled, then choose an upscaling quality preset if the game offers one.
If the game has native ML-based FSR integration, use its in-game control rather than assuming the AMD Software route applies.

If FSR is missing, greyed out, or inactive
- Recheck the specific game and GPU. A supported game feature still depends on the game’s integration, laptop GPU, and driver. Confirm them against AMD’s current supported-games list.
- Use the laptop maker’s driver when needed. AMD says laptops and all-in-one systems may need OEM-provided drivers customized for their features. If AMD Software downloaded from AMD.com causes compatibility problems, AMD recommends installing the driver from the laptop manufacturer. See AMD’s Adrenalin 26.6.1 release notes for its guidance.
- Check the game menu after enabling the driver toggle. The game may require FSR 3.1 to be enabled in its own graphics or video options before the feature can be selected.
- Check current release notes for title-specific problems. AMD’s Adrenalin 26.6.1 notes, last updated June 2, 2026, listed a case where FSR Upscaling and FSR Frame Generation might appear inactive while playing Battlefield 6 on RX 9000 graphics products. This report is specific to that game and graphics-product family; newer drivers may change its status.
AMD’s Adrenalin 25.6.3 release notes provide additional dated context for FSR 4 and laptop support. Driver and game support can change, so use current documentation when a setting is unavailable.

FSR requires game integration. Radeon Super Resolution (RSR) is a separate driver-based option for compatible games and may be relevant when a game lacks native FSR, but it does not enable FSR 4 in a supported game. AMD explains the distinction on its Radeon Super Resolution page.
