What you can do before release
Wishlist the Steam listing
- Sign in to the Steam account you intend to use for the game.
- Open the official When Sirens Fall Silent store page.
- Select Add to your wishlist.
- Keep Steam notifications enabled for that account so a release announcement can reach you.
A wishlist is not a pre-download. It records your interest and can provide a notification when the store page changes, but it does not install the game or reserve an update.
Decide where you intend to play
The announcement identifies Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG on PC, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S also planned. Steam on PC
- Claim or purchase When Sirens Fall Silent after its Steam page becomes available.
- Open your Steam Library, select the game, and choose Install. Complete the installation once so Steam registers the title in your library.
- For general download scheduling, open Steam > Settings > Downloads. Set any download schedule, bandwidth limit, or background-download preference that suits your connection.
- For the game’s update behavior, open the title’s library entry, choose Properties, and open the Updates page. Select the available automatic-update preference rather than a manual-only option if you want Steam to patch the game without asking each time.
- Leave Steam signed in and allow it to run during the schedule you selected. A scheduled download cannot begin if the computer is shut down or Steam is not available to perform it.
Steam lists Steam Cloud and single-player support for the title. Cloud-save synchronization is separate from downloading the game or applying patches; do not treat a cloud-save indicator as proof that an update has installed.
Epic Games Store and GOG on PC
Both stores are named as planned PC storefronts, but their final product pages and settings may not be visible until launch. After the page is active:
- Sign in to the account that owns the game and add or purchase it through that store.
- Install it from the store’s library using the install button shown for your edition and region.
- Open the launcher’s settings and look for its automatic-update, background-download, or download-scheduling controls.
- Enable the automatic behavior you want, then keep the launcher signed in and running when downloads are scheduled.
Do not assume that a setting enabled in Steam controls an Epic Games Store or GOG copy. Each launcher maintains its own library, schedule, bandwidth rules, and update process.

PlayStation 5
PlayStation 5 is included in the announced platform plan. Once a PS5 product page is available and you own the game, use the console’s current automatic-download and automatic-update options in its system settings. Automatic installation still depends on the console being connected to the internet, having enough free storage, and meeting the power or rest-mode conditions required by your selected settings.
Xbox Series X|S
Xbox Series X|S is also named in the plan. After release, claim or purchase the Xbox edition, install it from your library, and review the console’s current settings for automatic game updates, network access, and overnight or standby downloads. The console must be online and able to reach the service during the chosen period.

The announcement does not establish launch-day parity, regional availability, final pricing, installation size, or whether every platform will expose identical scheduling options. Check the live store page for your country before making a platform-specific assumption.

A release-day setup checklist
- Confirm the live listing. Make sure the page is for the correct platform and region, and that the release status has changed from unavailable.
- Acquire the game. Claim a free entitlement if one is offered, or complete the purchase required by your store.
- Install once. Automatic patching applies to an installed title; it does not replace the initial installation step.
- Enable the platform’s update option. On Steam, use the Downloads settings and the game’s Properties > Updates page. On other platforms, use the corresponding launcher or console controls shown at that time.
- Set a practical schedule. Choose hours when the computer or console is normally online and, for consoles, allowed to remain in the required standby or rest mode.

- Start the first update manually. After installation, check the library once. This confirms that the account, storage, and network connection are working before you rely on background updates.
Troubleshooting automatic downloads and updates
The game still cannot be installed
Recheck the store page’s release status and region. A wishlist entry, announcement, or planned-platform statement does not create an installable product. If the page remains unavailable, there is no title-specific download setting to repair.
The game is installed but a patch did not start
- Open the platform’s downloads or queue view and look for a paused, queued, or failed job.
- Confirm that automatic updates are enabled for this title rather than restricted to manual updates.
- Check that the launcher or console is signed in and online during the permitted schedule.
- Verify free storage. A patch may need temporary space in addition to the final installed size; the title’s required amount should be taken from the live store page when published.
A scheduled download never runs
Check the conditions around the schedule instead of changing the game itself. On PC, the launcher may need to remain open. On a console, the device may need to stay connected in its supported rest or standby state. A system-wide bandwidth limit, metered connection, or power-saving rule can also defer a large download.
The update consumes too much bandwidth
Use the platform’s download scheduling or bandwidth controls to move the transfer to a quieter period or cap its rate. These controls affect the launcher or console, not the game’s content. If you select a cap that is too low, the update may remain queued until the schedule changes.
You changed platforms
Automatic settings do not follow you from one storefront to another. A Steam installation is managed by Steam; a copy acquired through another PC store or a console is managed by that platform. Configure the device on which you own the game and verify that the correct edition is installed.
You are concerned about save data
Steam’s listing identifies Steam Cloud support, but cloud synchronization is not the same as an update and should not be used as a substitute for a backup. Before a major patch, allow any pending synchronization to finish and avoid interrupting the platform while it is writing save data.
What kind of game is When Sirens Fall Silent?
Wired Productions describes the title as a dark, investigative psychological thriller. You play Mila, a policewoman in early-1990s Italy, investigating kidnappings and murders. The official Steam notice says: “The story of When Sirens Falls Silent and its featured characters are a work of fiction, the game contains potentially uncomfortable scenes and covers topics that may distress some players.” Consider that warning when deciding whether to enable unattended downloads on a shared device or account.

There is no automatic-download switch to enable for When Sirens Fall Silent today because the game has not been released on Steam and has no announced release date. Wishlist the official listing for a notification.
