To use any of them, your channel and stream must meet that feature’s requirements, and you must accept its separate terms in YouTube Studio. YouTube publishes payout calculations, but it does not promise any creator a particular amount of earnings.

The payout figures describe YouTube’s published calculations, not what a viewer spends in every situation or what a creator will earn. Viewer demand, feature access, and applicable terms affect actual revenue.

Check eligibility before enabling anything
Super Chat and Super Stickers
YouTube’s fan-funding requirements include being in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), being at least 18, living in a location where the feature is available, and complying with the applicable terms and policies. You must also accept the Commerce Product Module (CPM), unless you are covered by the previously available Commerce Product Addendum. The Supers option appears in Studio for channels with access. YouTube’s current eligibility and location details are on its Super Chat and Super Stickers eligibility, availability, and policies page and its fan-funding minimum requirements page.
Supers are unavailable on age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, or YouTube Giving fundraiser videos, and on streams where live chat or comments are turned off. The feature may be available for eligible livestreams and Premieres, but the planned stream must meet the rules. Do not assume early-access YPP subscriber or viewing thresholds alone establish Supers access; check your Studio Earn area.

Gifts
Gifts have separate requirements. You must be in YPP, be 18 or older, live in a supported country or region, accept the Virtual Items Module (VI Module), and have a verified AdSense account or another age-verification method accepted by Google. YouTube may prompt you to complete AdSense identity verification when you try to turn Gifts on. Check the current Gifts eligibility page and Virtual Items country availability list; the lists for Gifts and Supers differ and can change.
Gifts are unavailable on age-restricted, Made for Kids, unlisted, or private livestreams, on YouTube Giving fundraisers, and when live chat or comments are turned off. YouTube describes Gifts as available to eligible creators on both vertical and horizontal livestreams, subject to its current eligibility rules.
Turn on Super Chat and Super Stickers
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Earn.
- Open the Supers tab or card. It appears when the channel has access.
- Select Get started and complete the prompts, including accepting the Commerce Product Module if requested.
- Switch on Super Chat, Super Stickers, or both.
- Before a stream or Premiere, confirm that it is eligible and live chat is enabled. Once Supers are on for the channel, YouTube says they can appear automatically on eligible live streams and Premieres.
YouTube’s Supers setup instructions also cover mobile. If a third party administers your channel rights, YouTube advises checking with that party before proceeding.

Turn on Gifts
- In YouTube Studio, open Earn.
- On desktop, go to Supers & gifts; on mobile, open Gifts.
- Select Turn on gifts or Get Started, then follow the prompts to accept the Virtual Items Module.
- Check that Gifts are enabled and that your planned stream meets the format, location, chat, and content requirements.
You can turn Gifts off in the Earn area. YouTube says this removes the feature from eligible streams; past earnings remain reviewable in Analytics. For the current steps, see YouTube’s Gifts setup and reporting instructions.
What YouTube pays—and what the figures mean
Super Chat and Super Stickers
YouTube says creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google. It calculates that share after deducting local sales tax and iOS App Store fees; YouTube currently covers transaction costs, including credit-card fees. This is not 70% of every viewer’s gross payment. The broader Commerce Product Module overview describes a 70% share of net revenue from channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks. Check your own agreement in YouTube Studio > Settings > Agreements for the terms that apply to your channel. See YouTube’s Supers revenue and reporting guidance and partner earnings overview.

Gifts
YouTube’s Virtual Items policy says two Jewels redeemed for Gifts earn one Ruby, and that it pays $0.01 per Ruby. This is a platform-published conversion and payment calculation. It is not a prediction of how many Jewels viewers will buy or how many Gifts they will send. Read the current Virtual Items Program Policies for Creators.
Where revenue appears
For Supers, open YouTube Analytics and check Revenue or How you make money. Gifts have a separate Gifts breakdown in Analytics. YouTube says Analytics revenue may be estimated and adjusted, so use finalized account statements and current Studio reporting for accounting rather than treating an estimate as final. The partner earnings overview also says the partner agreement does not guarantee how much, or whether, an individual creator will be paid.

Encourage participation without promising earnings
YouTube recommends acknowledging contributions in real time, thanking viewers, reading and responding to chat, encouraging conversation, and telling fans that Supers are enabled and how to use them. It also suggests setting a community goal or trying Q&A and audience-submitted challenges. These are engagement ideas, not guarantees of increased revenue.

YouTube says Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Virtual Items are not crowdfunding or donation tools; Virtual Items are not tipping tools either. Creators are responsible for following applicable laws. Tax and legal treatment depends on where you live and your circumstances, so consult local authorities or a qualified professional for personal advice. If YouTube removes a Super Chat or Super Sticker for a policy violation, it says its portion of the revenue is donated to charity. Purchases and messages remain subject to YouTube policies and Community Guidelines.
