You must qualify for YouTube’s fan-funding features, enable memberships, offer policy-compliant perks, and pass a channel-level review. YouTube’s monetization rules apply to livestreams: repetitive or mass-produced content can put eligibility at risk, though its published policy does not categorically prohibit every loop.
What memberships pay for—and what they do not guarantee
Channel memberships let viewers make recurring payments in exchange for member-only benefits. Examples include badges, emojis, members-only posts, videos, and live chats. For a channel built around a continuous stream, memberships can make sense when you can offer worthwhile benefits beyond simply leaving the stream running.

Memberships are separate from qualifying for YouTube Partner Programme (YPP) features. Meeting the listed thresholds makes a channel eligible to apply for the relevant fan-funding features; YouTube still reviews the channel and does not promise acceptance or a particular income.
Membership eligibility in India
YouTube lists India among the locations where channel memberships are available. Its current early-YPP thresholds for fan-funding features, including memberships, are:

- At least three public uploads in the past 90 days.
- Either 3,000 qualified public watch hours on long-form videos in the past 365 days, or 3 million qualified public Shorts views in the past 90 days.
Those channel thresholds are not the only requirements. Memberships also require that you are at least 18, accept YouTube’s Commerce Product Module, and have a channel that meets feature and content eligibility rules. Your channel must not be set as Made for Kids and must not have a significant number of ineligible videos. Some music channels under SRAV are also ineligible. Apply and turn on memberships
- Check your status in YouTube Studio. Open the Earn section to see whether your channel meets the thresholds and can apply. YouTube reviews the channel as a whole for policy compliance; a threshold is not automatic acceptance.
- Complete YPP signup. Follow the steps shown in Earn, including linking an active AdSense for YouTube account if prompted.
- Accept the Commerce Product Module. Memberships require acceptance of the module and its terms. Review the applicable agreement in Studio.
- Enable memberships and create levels and perks. Use Studio’s memberships setup flow to configure what members receive. Benefits must follow YouTube’s membership policies. Among the prohibited perks are downloads of content already available on YouTube, in-person one-to-one meetings, and random contests, lotteries, or sweepstakes.
- Make the offer clear to viewers. Explain what each level provides and how members can access the benefits. Do not imply that paying guarantees a particular stream schedule or outcome unless you can reliably deliver it.

Can a looping livestream pass monetization review?
A loop is not automatically disallowed by the cited policy, but it can create a meaningful originality risk. YouTube’s channel monetization policy says the term “video” includes livestreams and expects monetized content to be original and authentic. It warns that mass-produced, generic, repetitive, or manipulative content may be ineligible. Reviewers can consider the channel’s main theme, most-viewed and newest videos, the share of watch time from particular videos, metadata, and the About section. The practical question is not simply whether a file repeats; it is whether the channel offers original, genuine value rather than interchangeable programming made primarily to accumulate views. - Use material you created or have the necessary rights to use. A stream being live does not make copyrighted music or video safe to rebroadcast.
- Make the programming meaningfully original and useful or enjoyable to viewers, rather than repeating generic material with little added value.
- Describe the format honestly. If viewers are watching a replay or loop, do not present it as a live camera or real-time performance.
- Review the whole channel, not just the 24/7 stream: its archives, titles, descriptions, thumbnails, About section, and the balance of original programming all contribute to how it appears.
- Offer membership perks you can consistently deliver and that comply with YouTube’s rules.
These steps reflect YouTube’s published originality and review criteria; they cannot guarantee that a channel or particular stream will pass review.
Do livestream watch hours count?
Some livestream viewing may contribute to the long-form watch-hour route, but not every streamed hour qualifies. YouTube says livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD do not count toward qualified public watch hours. Keeping an eligible public archive is therefore relevant, but the archive must still meet YouTube’s broader requirements and the channel remains subject to policy review. How much can memberships earn?
YouTube’s Commerce Product Module guidance states that partners who accept it receive 70% of net revenue from channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks. That is a share of net revenue under the applicable agreement—not 70% of the displayed member price and not a guaranteed rupee amount per member. Taxes, billing, refunds, and channel-specific agreement terms affect what a creator ultimately receives. YouTube says creators may also be responsible for taxes in their country of residence. Review the agreement in Studio and YouTube’s earnings guidance; it explicitly says there are no guarantees about how much or whether a partner will be paid.
YouTube does not provide a typical Indian creator’s membership earnings or a universal rupee-per-member payout in the cited guidance. Estimate revenue only from your actual membership pricing, net revenue and agreement terms, not from a generic payout figure.

Other revenue features to consider
Memberships are the most direct fit when the goal is recurring payments for ongoing benefits. Other features can complement them, but each has its own eligibility and setup rules.
