What Super Chat pays for—and what it does not
Super Chat lets a viewer pay to make a message stand out in live chat. Super Stickers are a separate paid feature that surfaces animated images in chat. Both are viewer-purchased interactions, not automatic payments for keeping a stream online. YouTube says Supers are not crowdfunding or donation tools; understand any laws that apply to your activity. YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers overview explains the features.

YouTube’s Super Chat management guidance states that creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google. This is a share of confirmed revenue, not an estimate of earnings per hour, viewer, or stream. Actual income depends on whether eligible viewers choose to buy a Super Chat or Sticker.

- Qualify for the YouTube Partner Program. You must be accepted into YPP and meet fan-funding requirements, including being at least 18 and living where the feature is available. Check YouTube’s current eligibility requirements; availability and rules can change.
- Accept the applicable terms. Accept the Commerce Product Module or, if applicable, the previously accepted Commerce Product Addendum, and comply with YouTube’s terms and policies.
- Enable Supers in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio and go to Earn, then the Supers section, and follow the prompts to turn on Super Chat and Super Stickers if offered. YouTube’s feature management instructions are the source for current labels and steps.
- Check settings on the actual livestream. Super Chat and Super Stickers are unavailable on age-restricted, unlisted, or private videos, Made for Kids content, and YouTube Giving fundraiser videos. They also require live chat or comments to be on. Creator location affects availability. YouTube’s Supers policies list the restrictions.
- Make chat worth attending. Keep chat enabled and useful, and acknowledge paid messages when practical. Treat Supers as optional audience interaction rather than asking for guaranteed payment.
Can you get Super Chats on a 24/7 gaming music livestream?
There is no blanket rule in YouTube’s cited guidance that makes a continuous livestream ineligible solely because it runs 24/7. The channel and stream still have to meet fan-funding, feature, chat, and policy requirements. Separately, YouTube reviews monetized channels for original, authentic content and may reject content that is repetitive or mass-produced. That makes an interchangeable static loop a monetization risk, not proof that every continuous stream is disallowed. Make the stream’s original value clear—for example, what is distinctive about the gameplay, curation, presentation, or ongoing audience experience. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

Clear music and gameplay rights before going live
A 24/7 format does not remove the need for permission to use the music and gameplay. YouTube’s livestream terms require the creator to have necessary rights for exploitation of the live content on Google services, including music licensing rights. YouTube warns that a third-party match can interrupt a livestream; even licensed music may trigger an interruption if the rightsholder has not allowlisted your channel. Archived livestreams can also receive Content ID claims after the broadcast. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and its copyright guidance before choosing tracks.
Gameplay monetization depends on the game publisher’s commercial-use permissions and the content itself. Check the specific publisher’s rules rather than assuming that owning or playing a game grants monetization rights. A livestream’s music and gameplay may raise separate rights questions.

YouTube describes ads, Supers, and memberships as possible revenue routes, but their eligibility and revenue triggers differ. The feature details are in YouTube’s monetization guidance for live streams. There is no basis to predict which route will earn more without channel-specific data.
Keep the stream running: DIY or cloud
If you run a 24/7 broadcast from your own computer or encoder, that setup has to stay online and connected for the stream to continue. Whatever method you choose, confirm that the live stream is public or otherwise eligible, live chat is on, and your music and gameplay rights cover continuous streaming.

Common reasons Supers may not appear
- The channel is not eligible or the feature is not available in your location: verify YPP acceptance, fan-funding requirements, age, and location availability in YouTube Studio and the current Help page.
- The feature is not enabled: check the Supers controls under Earn in YouTube Studio and confirm that you accepted the required Commerce Product terms.
- The individual stream is restricted: check whether it is age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, or a YouTube Giving fundraiser; check that live chat/comments are enabled.
- The stream is interrupted or claimed: review music and gameplay rights, including any channel allowlisting requirement from a music rightsholder. A claim or interruption can arise even when you believe a track is licensed.
- Monetization is denied or limited after channel review: assess whether the channel offers clear original value rather than relying on repetitive or mass-produced loops. Continuous streaming itself is not stated as an automatic disqualifier.
