The computer web version streams music but does not offer downloads or offline playback. Downloads are for listening inside the app; Nintendo does not document exporting tracks as ordinary audio files.
What you need before downloading
- The Nintendo Music app on a compatible smartphone or tablet. Google Play lists Android 9.0 or later; Nintendo’s reviewed materials do not establish a current minimum iOS version.
- A Nintendo Account and a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. The app is free to download, but the membership is required to use it.
- An internet connection while preparing music for offline listening.
You do not need to own a Nintendo Switch console. Check Nintendo’s current availability information for your region, since supported locations can change: Nintendo Music.

How to prepare Nintendo Music for offline listening
- Connect your phone or tablet to the internet and open the Nintendo Music app.
- Find the music you want to listen to and use the app’s download option, if available for that music. Nintendo confirms that music must be downloaded in advance, but its support documentation does not specify the current button name or tap-by-tap route. Follow the controls shown in your version of the app.
- Allow the download to finish while the device is online. Then, with connectivity disabled or unavailable, open the app and try playing the downloaded music to confirm it is ready for offline listening.
These are in-app downloads, not files Nintendo documents as exportable to another music player. Nintendo’s support guidance covers offline playback in the app, not copying tracks elsewhere.

App downloads and the web version are different

A browser on a computer therefore cannot prepare music for offline playback. Nintendo of Canada’s product page lists a web catalog of over 250 hours across more than 130 titles; that catalog figure is volatile and may change. Nintendo Music on Nintendo of Canada.

If downloaded tracks stop working offline
Nintendo says app downloads can expire after you have been offline for an extended period; it does not specify a fixed number of days. Its support article, updated September 2, 2026, gives recovery steps for error 9009-2201 on Android and 9010-2101 on iOS:
- Reconnect to the internet and launch the Nintendo Music app.
- Leave the app running online for around 30 minutes. On Android, it may remain in the background. On iOS, keep it in the foreground; sleeping or backgrounding the app interrupts the process.
- Try the downloaded music offline again.
Nintendo also notes a possible offline playback issue for Android users who updated to app version 1.7. If an affected downloaded track will not play offline, play it online first, then try it offline again. See Nintendo’s offline listening troubleshooting guidance for the current support details.
