For the current game, the official method is to extract the ZIP and put the mod folder in the game’s mods folder. Older mods and mods built for a different engine may need a different setup.
Choose a mod that fits your game
Browse the Friday Night Funkin’ community listing on GameBanana, then open the individual mod page and check its files and requirements before downloading. Confirm that the mod supports your operating system and game version, and look for any named engine, such as V-Slice or Psych Engine. A listing may offer a ZIP folder, a standalone executable, or another format; the installation method depends on what the creator provides.

The Funkin’ Crew’s official mod installation instructions say to extract the downloaded ZIP and place the resulting mod folder in the game’s mods folder. The guide gives different folder paths for Android and iOS.

Desktop
- Download the mod ZIP from its listing.
- Extract the ZIP. Keep the mod’s folder structure intact.
- Move the extracted mod folder into the game’s
modsfolder. - Restart the game so it can detect the mod.
Android
- Start the game once.
- Extract the mod ZIP into
/sdcard/Android/obb/me.funkin.fnf/mods. - Restart the game.
iOS
- In the Files app, open On My iPhone, then Friday Night Funkin, then mods.
- Extract or move the mod folder into that
modsfolder. - Restart the game.
Folder names and instructions can change as the game is updated, so check the official guide for the current steps for your platform.
When the official folder method does not apply
Some older mods use a legacy desktop arrangement, and engine-specific mods may require a separate engine or launcher. A GameBanana tutorial for an older desktop installation approach describes a separate vanilla game copy; treat it as an example for that setup, not a universal instruction. Follow the specific mod’s requirements rather than applying the current game’s mods-folder steps automatically.

If a mod requires a standalone executable, check its source and instructions before running it. The available listings do not establish that every mod is safe, compatible, or maintained.

If the mod does not appear
- Confirm that you extracted the ZIP and placed the mod folder—not just the ZIP—in the correct
modslocation. - Restart the game after moving the files.
- Recheck the mod page for its supported game version, platform, engine, and any special launcher or install steps.
- If the mod targets an older desktop setup or another engine, use that mod’s instructions instead of assuming the current official folder method applies.
