To download a YouTube playlist for offline viewing in India, use the official YouTube mobile app: sign in, open a video from the playlist, and tap Download if the option is available. YouTube Premium supports downloading videos and playlists; without Premium, some videos may be downloadable in India, while others require a membership.

Download a playlist in the YouTube mobile app
- Open the YouTube app and sign in to the account you intend to use offline.
- Open the playlist and select one of its videos. Check for the Download control beneath the video.
- If the playlist has a download option and you have Premium, use it to download the playlist. If that option is not shown, download eligible videos individually from their watch pages.
- If YouTube asks you to join Premium, that video requires Premium for this download route. If there is no Download control, the video may not be eligible for offline viewing.
- To find saved items, open the You tab or Library and choose Downloads. The exact placement can vary with app layout.
YouTube Premium’s help covers video and playlist downloads. Its India-specific selected-country guidance describes downloading individual videos, so the availability of a playlist-level control may depend on what the app shows for your account and playlist. Keep downloads available offline
- Reconnect to the internet: Under the India selected-country mobile feature, downloaded videos can be watched offline for up to 48 hours before the app needs to reconnect and check availability. Keep the same account signed in. YouTube notes that non-music videos can have a longer period—up to 29 days—in some countries or regions, but that is not a universal India guarantee. YouTube Help
- Expect eligibility to change: If a video is no longer available for offline playback, it may be removed during a sync.
- Manage quality and storage: Higher download quality uses more data and device storage. Choose a lower quality or download over Wi-Fi if you need to limit either. YouTube Help
- Check new playlist additions: A newly added video may download automatically if you watched a video from that playlist or downloaded the playlist within the preceding 30 days. This is conditional, not a guarantee for every addition. YouTube offline FAQ
Premium device and membership limits
YouTube says Premium offline features can be used on up to 10 devices at a time, with up to four device swaps in a year. If your Premium membership ends, downloaded videos are no longer accessible. Can you download the playlist as an MP4?
No—not through YouTube’s offline-viewing feature. Downloads are stored for playback inside the YouTube app, not exported as MP4 files to your phone’s gallery or computer. YouTube’s creator-download help also says its file-download feature does not let users download other people’s videos. YouTube Help on downloading videos

Common problems and fixes
- No Download button: The video may not be eligible for offline playback, or the account may need Premium. Check another video in the playlist and follow any membership prompt shown.
- Only some playlist videos downloaded: Eligibility is determined per video. Download the remaining eligible items individually; do not assume every item in a playlist can be saved.
- A download disappeared or will not play: Reconnect to the internet while signed in to the same account so YouTube can verify availability. Content that is no longer eligible may be removed during sync.
- Automatic playlist updates did not happen: A new item may download automatically only under the stated 30-day condition. Otherwise, open the new video and use Download if available.
- Downloads stopped after membership ended: Premium downloads are no longer accessible once the membership ends.
- Desktop playlist download is missing: YouTube’s computer instructions document downloading from an individual video watch page, not an entire playlist. Use the app workflow for playlist-level downloads.
