Sign in to the account that paid for the game, confirm the transaction, then open the library for your console and select Download. On PS5, use Games home > Game Library > Your Collection; on PS4, use Library > Purchased. If the title is missing or shows a padlock, work through account, entitlement, sharing, and license checks before contacting PlayStation Support.
What “delisted” changes—and what it does not
Delisting removes a game from normal Store sale or search. It does not by itself tell you whether your account can still download an associated license. The decisive details are the account used for the purchase, the transaction record, the game’s licensing status in your region, and whether your access came from an outright purchase, a PlayStation Plus benefit, or another account’s sharing settings.

Start with the library tied to the original account. Treat the Store listing as optional: a delisted title may not appear in search even when the account still has an entitlement. If the game is not present in the library, or it appears with a lock icon, follow the checks below rather than buying another edition or assuming that a physical copy will restore a digital license.
Identify which kind of access you had
Before changing console settings, establish what you actually obtained. The recovery path differs for a standalone digital purchase, a PlayStation Plus entitlement, and a game shared from another account.

A game that another person bought and shared with your console is not the same as a game purchased on your own account. The distinction matters when you change consoles, deactivate a system, or try to restore licenses.
Download the game from your library
On a PS5
- Sign in to the PlayStation account that completed the purchase, or the account that receives the applicable entitlement.
- From the Games home screen, open Game Library.
- Choose Your Collection.
- Find the delisted game. The library is the relevant destination even if a Store search no longer returns the title.
- Select the game and choose Download.
Remain signed in to the correct account while the download starts. If the game is visible but the download button is unavailable or a padlock appears, stop retrying the download and move to the entitlement and license checks below.
On a PS4
- Sign in to the purchasing account.
- Open Library.
- Select Purchased.
- Select the game and choose Download.
The Purchased section is account-specific. A different user profile can have a different library even when both profiles use the same console.

- Sign in to the PlayStation account used for the transaction.
- Select your avatar.
- Open Game Library, then Purchased.
- Select the title and choose the download option shown for your linked console.
The web library can help confirm that the entitlement is associated with the account, but it cannot turn an expired or absent license into a new one.
From the PlayStation App
- Open the app and sign in to the purchasing account.
- Go to Game Library, then Purchased.
- Select the game.
- Use Download to Console for the linked PS5 or PS4.
The console must be linked to the account for the remote download action to work. If the app does not show the title, use the console library and transaction-history checks as the authoritative next steps.

Why a game you bought may be missing or locked
1. You are signed in to a different account
Account mix-ups are the first thing to eliminate. Sign out if necessary and sign in to each plausible PlayStation account only long enough to check its library and transaction history. In the account’s transaction history, look for a completed purchase for the exact game or edition. An email address, console user name, or family relationship is not proof that the account owns the license.
If no completed transaction appears, the game may have been obtained through PlayStation Plus, a promotional entitlement, or another account’s sharing. Do not label it an outright purchase until the account record supports that conclusion.
2. The game is hidden
PlayStation allows games to be hidden. A hidden game is hidden in the libraries of all consoles associated with that account, so checking a second console will not reveal it. Use the account’s library controls to unhide the title, then return to the Purchased or Collection view and try the download again.
3. Access came from PlayStation Plus
A Plus catalog or monthly benefit is a conditional entitlement, not automatically a permanent purchase. Confirm that the subscription is active and that the title remains available in the relevant Plus collection or catalog for your account and region. If the game left that collection, an active subscription alone does not establish that you can download it.
Keep this check separate from the transaction-history check: a Plus entitlement may not appear as a normal purchase, while a game bought outright should be associated with the purchasing account’s completed transaction.

4. The game belongs to another account on the console
When another user owns the game, the owner account’s console-sharing configuration determines whether other users can launch or download it.
- PS5: On the owner account, confirm that Console Sharing and Offline Play is enabled for the console being used.
- PS4: On the owner account, confirm that the console is activated as that account’s primary PS4.
Changing these settings can affect which console receives shared access. If you are no longer using the owner account, cannot sign in to it, or the entitlement was removed from that account, sharing settings cannot substitute for ownership.
Restore licenses on PS5 or PS4
Restoring licenses is Sony’s official step for a padlock, a missing game or add-on, or some crashes caused by the console failing to match installed content with the account license. Sony says this process does not affect your data.
PS5 menu path
- Open Settings.
- Select Users and Accounts.
- Select Other.
- Choose Restore Licenses and follow the confirmation prompts.
PS4 menu path
- Open Settings.
- Select Account Management.
- Choose Restore Licenses.
- Select Restore.
After the operation completes, return to the correct account’s library and check the title again. License restoration is a synchronization and troubleshooting action; it does not recreate an entitlement that never belonged to the account, has expired, or is no longer available under the applicable license.
If the game appears but the download fails
Once the title is visible in the correct library and the entitlement checks out, treat a failed download as a console or service problem rather than a delisting problem.

Check service status and system software
- Check PlayStation’s service-status information for an outage affecting downloads, account services, or the Store.
- Install any available system-software update for the console.
- Retry only after the service and software checks are complete.
Verify storage and retry the transfer
- Confirm that the console has enough free storage for the game and its required installation data.
- If the download is paused, resume it.
- If it remains stuck or fails, cancel the transfer and start it again from the library.
These steps address an interrupted or incomplete transfer. They do not resolve a title that is absent from the account’s library because the account has no recognized entitlement.
Use Safe Mode only for appropriate indexing or cache problems
If ordinary retry steps do not work, Sony’s download troubleshooting guidance includes Safe Mode cache and database procedures for suitable console indexing or cache failures. Follow the on-screen Safe Mode instructions exactly and use the least disruptive option that addresses the reported problem. Safe Mode can help the console rebuild or re-index local information; it cannot restore a purchase record or bypass a license check.

A library listing is not a universal guarantee that every delisted game will remain downloadable forever. Sony Interactive Entertainment’s U.S. March 2026 Terms of Service, section 8.16, says the user is responsible for accessing a purchased product before it is removed or the license expires. The same section states: “We are not obligated to provide you with replacement copies for any reason.”
That language is specific to the U.S. March 2026 agreement and should not be treated as a universal rule for every country, agreement version, or title. It also does not establish whether one particular game remains available to your account. The game’s license, region, transaction record, and entitlement type determine the individual case.

For that reason, do not assume that a delisting guarantees permanent re-download access, and do not assume that the absence of a Store page proves the license is gone. Use the account and license checks first, then ask Support to determine the title-specific status.
When to contact PlayStation Support
Escalate after you have verified the purchasing account, checked its transaction history, looked in the correct library, ruled out a hidden title, confirmed the Plus or sharing conditions that apply, and restored licenses. Support is the appropriate route when the purchase is verified but the game remains absent, locked, or unavailable for download.
Prepare the following information before opening the case:
- The account identifier or sign-in email for the account that made the purchase.
- The game title and edition, if more than one edition exists.
- The transaction-history result and purchase date, if shown.
- The console model and whether you tried PS5, PS4, the website, or the app.
- The exact error message or padlock behavior.
- The date and time of the failed attempt.
- The steps you already tried, including the relevant library path and license restoration.
- A screenshot or video of the library entry or error, if available.
Describe the problem as an entitlement-recovery request, not as a request to buy a delisted game. Support can examine account-specific licensing and regional availability that a general troubleshooting page cannot establish.
A practical decision path
- Identify the owner: Was it bought on your account, obtained through Plus, or shared by another account?
- Verify the record: For an outright purchase, confirm a completed transaction in the purchasing account’s history.
- Open the right library: PS5: Games home > Game Library > Your Collection; PS4: Library > Purchased; online or in the app: Game Library > Purchased.
- Unhide it: Check the account’s hidden-game settings if the title does not appear.
- Validate conditional access: For Plus, check subscription and catalog status. For sharing, check PS5 Console Sharing and Offline Play or PS4 primary-console activation on the owner account.
- Restore licenses: Use the PS5 or PS4 menu path for the console you are using.
- Fix the transfer: Check service status, system software, storage, and retry the download; use appropriate Safe Mode cache or database steps only when ordinary retries fail.
- Escalate: Contact PlayStation Support with the transaction, error, timing, and troubleshooting details if the verified entitlement still cannot be accessed.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Searching only the Store: Delisting can remove the sales page without answering the separate question of whether your account still has an entitlement.
- Using the wrong profile: A console can contain several users, but each user’s library and transaction history are account-specific.
- Confusing Plus with ownership: Subscription access depends on an active subscription and continued catalog availability.
- Restoring licenses on the wrong account: The operation must be performed while signed in to the account that owns or receives the relevant entitlement.
- Deleting data to solve a license issue: License restoration does not affect data, while unnecessary deletion can remove local installations without fixing an absent entitlement.
- Assuming a new console changes ownership: Moving hardware does not move a purchase to a different account; sharing and primary-console settings still apply.
- Treating a failed download as proof of delisting: Service outages, system software, storage, and local indexing can interrupt a valid download.
The answer in one sentence
Sign in to the account that owns the game, verify the entitlement, download it from the console or online Purchased/Collection library, restore licenses if it is missing or locked, and contact PlayStation Support when those checks do not recover a title-specific license.
