To dispute a Cash App charge, first identify what kind of transaction it was. A Cash App Card purchase, a transfer you did not authorize, a payment you sent to a scammer, and a charge on a linked bank or card do not necessarily use the same process. The steps below reflect Cash App’s U.S. terms and guidance reviewed October 7, 2026; check the current agreement and Support options in your app because labels and product rules can change.
How do I dispute a charge on Cash App?
Match the transaction to the route that handles it. Cash App says some products, including Cash App Card and peer-to-peer payments, support in-app disputes; for other products, you may need to contact Support through the app. If an external bank account or card funded the transaction, contact the institution that issued or holds it as well.

How do I dispute a Cash App Card purchase?
- Open Cash App and tap your profile icon.
- Tap Support, then Cash Card.
- Scroll to and tap Dispute a Purchase.
- Follow the prompts. Cash App’s prepaid card agreement says it will send a form to initiate an investigation.
- Describe what is wrong and provide the requested details. Cash App identifies your name and account information, why you believe an error occurred, the amount, and the approximate date as useful information. Keep related transaction details and merchant communications.
Use the deadline in the agreement that applies to your account and product, and report the issue promptly. Cash App’s prepaid card agreement says it must hear about a card-account error no later than 60 days after the earlier of electronic access to the history where the error could be viewed or the first written history showing it. The U.S. Terms of Service separately describe a 60-day period for covered Regulation E errors, measured from the first statement on which the customer believes the error appeared. These are not interchangeable deadlines for every kind of dispute.
How do I report an unauthorized Cash App transaction?
If you did not initiate or permit the transfer, contact Cash App as soon as possible. Its U.S. Terms of Service say to report suspected unauthorized transactions promptly. You can use in-app Support, call 1-800-969-1940, or write to Block, Inc., Attn: Cash Disputes, 1955 Broadway, Suite 600, MSC 211, Oakland, CA 94612. Confirm contact details in Cash App’s current official information before using them.

The terms describe potential liability limits tied to reporting within two business days after learning of an unauthorized transaction. They also describe a statement-based 60-day period: if you wait longer, and Cash App can show timely notice could have stopped later transfers, you may not recover losses from those later transfers. The terms contain exclusions, including situations where you gave another person access to your account or simply sent a payment instruction to the wrong recipient. These provisions are conditional, not a guarantee of a particular outcome.
Cash App says its only support phone number is 1-800-969-1940. A representative will not ask for your password, PIN, or full debit card number. Do not call numbers from unsolicited messages or search-result ads claiming to be Cash App Support.

Can I get my money back if I got scammed on Cash App?
A payment you personally approved and sent is not automatically an unauthorized transaction. Cash App says authorized peer-to-peer payments are generally difficult to reverse once completed, and recovery depends on the circumstances. Report the scam promptly through Cash App, and check the payment in the app for a pending status and any available cancel option. Do not assume a dispute will guarantee a refund.

No. Cash App’s terms say a dispute with the bank, card issuer, or merchant is not itself notice of an error to Cash App. Contact the bank or issuer about a transaction involving its account or card, and separately notify Cash App if you believe Cash App’s records or transfer contain an error. The rights and process for the external funding-source dispute are determined by that institution.

What happens after I report an error?
For covered account errors, Cash App’s terms say it will determine whether an error occurred within 10 business days. If more time is needed, the terms allow up to 45 days. In qualifying cases, they describe provisional credit within 10 business days while an investigation continues. Those are conditional terms for covered errors, not a universal timeline or promise of provisional credit for every card purchase, scam report, or product. Remittance transfers and other products may have separate rules.
