Use the official BOE Open Data API to retrieve BORME’s daily summary, then inspect the linked notice documents for insolvency and other corporate events. The documented route is date-based—not a company search or a real-time solvency rating—so a reliable monitor needs to collect publication days, retain the original wording and links, and interpret each notice in its procedural context.
What BORME can tell you
The Boletín Oficial del Registro Mercantil (BORME) is Spain’s official publication channel for legal and economic information about companies and other persons registered in the Commercial Register when publication is required. Its notices include insolvency declarations, dissolutions, mergers and acquisitions, splits, transfers, transformations, capital changes, and other legal events. The Agencia Estatal Boletín Oficial del Estado says BORME is published every day except Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays in Madrid; summaries are available from January 2009. BOE BORME FAQ

The BOE describes its REST API as a way to download and reuse published BORME acts, announcements, and notices through the summary for a selected date: “La Agencia Estatal BOE ha puesto a disposición de los reutilizadores una API REST que permite la descarga, uso y reutilización de los actos, anuncios y avisos publicados en el BORME, mediante el acceso al sumario correspondiente a la fecha seleccionada.” Agencia Estatal Boletín Oficial del Estado, FAQ BORME
Retrieve the daily summary
The documented endpoint is GET /datosabiertos/api/borme/sumario/{fecha}. Replace {fecha} with a date in yyyymmdd format. Each request covers one day’s summary. BOE Open Data API documentation
#1 Best Overall
- Select a publication date. For a monitor, iterate over dates and account for Saturdays, Sundays, and Madrid public holidays, when BORME is not published.
- Request the summary. For example, a request path for 4 October 2026 would end in
/20261004. Use the BOE API host and path documented in the official API reference. - Parse the summary’s document links. The BOE FAQ says each day’s summary lists URLs for the notices in PDF, HTML, and XML. Choose a format suitable for your parser and retain the document identifier and source URL. BOE BORME FAQ
- Store the source before classifying it. Save the publication date, identifier, printed company name, full notice text or source document, and link alongside any extracted event fields.
The API documentation lists HTTP 200 for success, 400 for an invalid identifier or parameter, 404 when the requested information does not exist, and 500 for a server error. Treat a 404 separately from a failed request: it may mean that no summary exists for the requested date, whereas a 500 indicates a server-side error. BOE Open Data API documentation
The BOE says Open Data reuse is subject to its reuse conditions. The cited API material does not establish a current API-key requirement, rate limit, uptime commitment, or service-level guarantee; check the live technical documentation for those details rather than assuming them. BOE Open Data
Find candidate events without losing their meaning
Search extracted notice text for terms such as situación concursal, declaración de concurso, conclusión del concurso, insolvencia, disolución, extinción, and liquidación. Treat matches as leads for review, not final company-status labels. A keyword alone may not tell you whether the notice announces a proceeding, records a judicial resolution, describes a provisional condition, or reports a conclusion or extinction.

For example, a 2022 BORME entry records an insolvency proceeding, a declaration of concurso, its conclusion for insufficient assets, judicial dissolution, and extinction. These are distinct steps and outcomes within the notice, not one interchangeable label. 2022 BORME notice A 2026 notice uses insolvencia total with the qualifier provisional; the same issue also contains a conclusion of concurso. Keep qualifiers attached to the phrase they describe. 2026 BORME notice

A practical extraction record
- Publication date and BORME document identifier
- Company name exactly as printed
- Original notice text, or a durable reference to it
- Matched event phrase in Spanish, including qualifiers and nearby context
- Your normalized event category, kept separate from the source wording
- Document URL and the format retrieved
Normalize only after preserving the notice itself. That lets downstream users audit why a classification was assigned and revise it if their rules change.

The documented summary endpoint retrieves notices by date. The reviewed API description does not establish direct company-name or tax-ID search through this route, so build collection around daily summaries unless fuller technical documentation confirms another endpoint. Nor should the BORME summary API be represented as a complete, real-time solvency database. A 2026 BOE-published agreement describes detailed insolvency and pre-insolvency data supplied by the Colegio de Registradores to the Directorate-General for Economic Policy for government analysis, and states that the microdata may not be published. 2026 BOE agreement A separate 2024 agreement describes registry API access for a specific Banco de España arrangement, including corporate-status checks against NIF lists; that arrangement does not establish unrestricted public access to the service. 2024 BOE agreement
