To deploy Samsung Galaxy Enterprise Edition phones with Android zero-touch enrollment, have an eligible reseller register the exact devices to your organization’s zero-touch account, link that account to your Samsung Knox Manage tenant, create an Android Enterprise configuration for Samsung Knox Manage, assign the configuration to the registered devices, and only then ship the phones. During first setup, each phone must reach the internet so Android can retrieve the assigned organization configuration.
Zero-touch is not a setting that can be inferred from the Galaxy name or Enterprise Edition label. Eligibility varies by precise model, carrier variant, country and reseller registration. Confirm those details before purchasing, then validate the complete workflow on a representative phone before a fleet rollout.

What Android zero-touch enrollment does
Android zero-touch is a provisioning method for company-owned devices. The organization’s configuration is associated with a device before the user begins setup. After the phone starts and connects to the internet, Android retrieves that configuration and starts enrollment with the organization’s enterprise mobility management (EMM) system. The user does not have to type an enrollment token or manually install the management agent in the normal hand-off flow.
Google describes the intended experience on its Android Enterprise enrollment page as: “With Android Enterprise, deploying a device is as simple as turning it on.” That is a description of the target experience, not a promise that every model, region, reseller or policy will work without preparation. See the Android Enterprise enrollment overview for the general process.

The procedure below uses Samsung Knox Manage because Samsung documents the account-linking and console path for it. Other EMMs have their own portals, DPC (device policy controller) names, extras, account-linking steps and supported management modes. Use the EMM’s current instructions whenever a label or field differs.
Confirm device and regional eligibility before purchase
Make eligibility a procurement requirement, not a post-delivery discovery. Android’s device information states that availability can vary by country and OEM, and the public pages do not provide a universal eligibility table for every Galaxy Enterprise Edition SKU. A Galaxy phone can therefore be suitable for business use yet still require a different enrollment route in a particular market.
Record the exact deployment scope
- Model and SKU: record the full model identifier, storage or radio variant where relevant, and whether it is an Enterprise Edition unit.
- Country and carrier variant: note where the phones will be activated and any carrier-specific firmware or distribution channel.
- Ownership: confirm that the phones are company-owned. Decide whether they will be fully managed for work-only use, company-owned with a separate personal area, or another mode supported by your EMM.
- EMM: name the system that will enforce policies. The steps in this article are specific to Samsung Knox Manage.
- Shipment date and staging location: allow time for reseller registration, account linking, assignment and a pilot device before the hand-off.
Ask the supplying reseller in writing to confirm that the exact units are eligible for Android zero-touch in the destination country and will be associated with the correct organization account. Do not treat a retail listing or the words “Enterprise Edition” as proof of registration.

Use the Android availability caveat correctly
The Android Enterprise devices page is useful for general device and feature context, but it is not a substitute for a SKU-level confirmation. Samsung’s Knox Manage instructions likewise require a device obtained from a zero-touch reseller partner. If the reseller cannot confirm eligibility and account association, pause procurement and choose a registration-capable channel or a different enrollment method.

Accounts and prerequisites for Knox Manage
Use an enterprise Google account
Samsung’s Knox Manage procedure requires an enterprise Google account for zero-touch. A personal Gmail account cannot be used for this prerequisite. Use an account controlled by the organization, with an administrator who can authorize the link to the EMM tenant and access the organization’s zero-touch records.
Prepare the Knox Manage tenant
Have the target Knox Manage tenant created and identify the administrator who will perform the account link. Confirm the intended management mode and baseline policies before creating the zero-touch configuration. The configuration should point to the tenant that will actually receive the devices; linking the wrong organization account can make the wrong EMM or setup experience appear during staging.
Coordinate with the reseller
The reseller’s job is more than shipping hardware. It must supply units through a zero-touch partner channel and register the device identifiers to your organization’s zero-touch account. Agree on when registration will be completed, how you will verify it, and what happens if a unit is replaced. Do not ship phones to users until registration and assignment are visible in the organization’s device list.

- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
1. Define the management outcome
- List the exact Galaxy model, SKU, region, carrier variant and expected shipment date.
- Choose the EMM and the management mode that the business requires. Fully managed devices are appropriate for company-only use; a company-owned work-profile arrangement may be appropriate when users need a personal area. Confirm that Knox Manage and the target Android release support the selected mode.
- Write down the policies that must be present at first sign-in, such as passcode, application, update, network and compliance rules. This prevents a device from being considered “enrolled” when it is merely visible in the console.
2. Obtain and verify the enterprise account
- Create or identify the organization’s enterprise Google account used for zero-touch.
- Give the administering person access to that organization account and to the Knox Manage tenant.
- Ask the reseller to confirm that the ordered device identifiers will be registered to this same organization account.
3. Link zero-touch to Knox Manage
- Sign in to the Knox Manage console.
- Open Device Enrollment > Zero-Touch.
- Choose the action to link the zero-touch account to the EMM provider.
- Select the account or accounts associated with the enterprise Google account.
- Link the account and confirm the operation.
If the expected account is not offered, stop here. Check that you are signed in with the enterprise identity, that the account belongs to the intended organization, and that the administrator has the required access. Creating a configuration before correcting the account link can send the deployment down the wrong path.
4. Create the zero-touch configuration
- Open the Android zero-touch enrollment portal used by your organization.
- Create a new configuration.
- For the Knox Manage Android Enterprise path, select Android Enterprise as the management option.
- Select Samsung Knox Manage as the EMM DPC.
- Complete the DPC extras and support or contact fields requested by the portal. Samsung’s guide provides the required fields and examples; copy the current values from that guide or the current Knox Manage instructions rather than relying on an old template.
- Save the configuration with a name that identifies the tenant, region and intended management mode.
DPC extras are configuration data passed to the management agent. They are not interchangeable between EMM products, and a field name can change as a portal is updated. Do not substitute another vendor’s DPC, invent values, or omit a required support contact simply because the phone model is Samsung.
5. Assign the configuration to registered devices
- Open the zero-touch portal’s registered-device list.
- Find the exact units supplied by the reseller.
- Assign the saved Knox Manage configuration to those devices.
- Verify the assignment status and check for units that are unregistered, duplicated or associated with another organization.
A saved configuration by itself does not enroll a phone. The device must be registered to the organization and assigned to the intended configuration.

- Confirm registration and assignment before releasing the shipment.
- Give the staging team the expected setup network and the contact for enrollment failures.
- Start a representative phone and connect it to Wi-Fi or another available internet connection.
- Allow Android to retrieve the organization configuration and begin Knox Manage enrollment.
- Complete any organization-specific setup screens and verify that the phone appears in the correct Knox Manage tenant with the expected policies.
A device that cannot reach the internet during setup cannot retrieve its zero-touch configuration. Connectivity is therefore part of staging, not an optional convenience.

7. Pilot before fleet deployment
Use at least one device from the actual shipment and the actual region. Confirm the complete path from reseller registration through policy application, application deployment and compliance reporting. The documented workflow establishes the configuration steps; it does not establish a universal enrollment time or success rate for every fleet. Treat your pilot as the acceptance test for your model, carrier variant, network and policies.
What the user and technician should expect
The user should receive a phone that has not been manually enrolled but is already associated with the company’s zero-touch configuration. On first start, the phone needs internet access. Android then contacts the zero-touch service, retrieves the assigned configuration and starts the Knox Manage enrollment flow. Depending on the management mode and policies, the user may see organization branding, consent or account screens defined by the EMM.
If the phone instead follows an ordinary consumer setup, do not ask the user to improvise with a personal Gmail account. Stop and verify registration, assignment, account linking and connectivity. A manual enrollment may produce a different management state from the one approved for the fleet.

| The phone does not enter managed setup | Check that the exact unit identifier appears in the organization’s zero-touch device list, is assigned to the intended configuration, came through an eligible reseller, and has internet access during setup. | Correct registration or assignment, connect the phone to a working network, then restart the approved setup process. If the reseller cannot confirm the unit, hold the device out of the rollout. |
| The wrong EMM or setup configuration appears | Verify the zero-touch account linked in Knox Manage, the selected DPC, and the device’s assigned configuration. | Relink the correct organization account if necessary, select the Samsung Knox Manage configuration, and reassign the device. Recheck the device list before handing it to a user. |
| The enterprise Google account is missing or rejected | Confirm that the administrator is using the organization’s enterprise account and has access to the correct organization record. | Sign out of unrelated identities, use the enterprise account, and obtain the required administrator access. Do not replace the prerequisite with a personal Gmail account. |
| The DPC configuration is rejected or enrollment stops after configuration retrieval | Compare the DPC selection, extras and support fields with the current Knox Manage instructions. Check for copied values from another EMM or an obsolete portal example. | Recreate or edit the configuration with the current Samsung-documented values, save it, and assign the corrected configuration to the device. |
| Only some units enroll | Compare the successful and failed units by SKU, carrier variant, country, reseller batch and registration status. | Ask the reseller to verify each failed identifier and regional eligibility. Do not generalize from one working Galaxy model to another. |
| Enrollment works in a lab but not at the hand-off location | Check Wi-Fi reachability, captive portals, firewall rules and whether the phone can obtain internet access before setup times out. | Use a staging network that permits the required setup traffic, or stage in a location with reliable connectivity before delivery. |
Android zero-touch versus Knox Mobile Enrollment
Samsung documents both Android zero-touch and Knox Mobile Enrollment (KME) for Samsung devices. The choice is a deployment decision, not evidence that zero-touch is unsupported. Samsung’s Knox Framework guidance recommends KME when an organization needs a more controlled out-of-box setup, has a diverse device ecosystem, or must accommodate lower-connectivity environments. Review the current Samsung Knox Framework guidance with the deployment team.

| Decision axis | Android zero-touch | Knox Mobile Enrollment |
|---|---|---|
| Device eligibility | Depends on the exact device, country, OEM support and zero-touch reseller registration. | Depends on Samsung model, region, KME support and Samsung/reseller enrollment arrangements. |
| Registration owner | The zero-touch reseller associates device identifiers with the organization’s Google zero-touch account. | The Samsung KME enrollment process and participating reseller or carrier associate devices with the organization’s KME account. |
| Setup control | Uses the assigned Android Enterprise configuration and the selected EMM DPC. | Samsung describes KME as the option for additional control over the out-of-box enrollment experience. |
| Connectivity considerations | The phone must reach the internet during setup to retrieve its configuration. | Samsung recommends considering KME for lower-connectivity environments; verify the exact operational behavior with Samsung and the EMM. |
| Mixed ecosystems | Can be appropriate when the organization’s EMM and reseller support the required Android devices and modes. | May be preferable when Samsung-specific controls or a more varied ecosystem make a single controlled Samsung workflow valuable. |
| Best next step | Confirm SKU, region, reseller registration, EMM support and pilot connectivity. | Confirm KME eligibility, Samsung account ownership, reseller process and the controls required by the deployment. |
Compare the two paths on all six axes—exact SKU and region, reseller registration, EMM and management mode, setup controls and branding, connectivity, and account or portal ownership. A cheaper or more familiar path is not automatically the safer one if the reseller cannot complete registration or the deployment site cannot provide connectivity.
Choose the management mode before writing policies
Enrollment is only the transport mechanism; the management mode determines what the organization controls. For company-only phones, a fully managed mode generally matches the ownership outcome. If employees need a personal area on a company-owned phone, a work-profile arrangement may be appropriate. Samsung’s Knox Manage documentation lists multiple enrollment modes and methods, but support depends on the target Android version, EMM configuration and device. Verify the exact mode in the current Knox Manage documentation before publishing a runbook.
Document the intended outcome in procurement and staging records. Otherwise, a phone can be successfully enrolled yet still receive the wrong restrictions, application set or privacy boundary.
Reseller hand-off checklist
- Full Galaxy model and SKU recorded.
- Destination country and carrier variant recorded.
- Enterprise Edition status confirmed for the exact units.
- Android zero-touch eligibility confirmed by the reseller.
- Device identifiers registered to the organization’s enterprise zero-touch account.
- Enterprise Google account owner and Knox Manage administrator identified.
- Knox Manage tenant linked to the correct zero-touch account.
- Android Enterprise and Samsung Knox Manage selected in the configuration.
- DPC extras and support fields completed from current instructions.
- Every registered unit assigned to the intended configuration.
- Internet access available at staging and first user setup.
- Representative device tested with production-like policies.
Lifecycle, reset and replacement considerations
Keep the zero-touch assignment as part of the device record, not only in a ticket or spreadsheet. When a phone is replaced, confirm that the replacement identifier is registered and assigned before shipping it. When ownership changes, remove or change the organization’s assignment according to your asset-disposal process and the EMM’s requirements.
Samsung notes that resetting a device registered through zero-touch can cause the Knox Manage agent to reinstall and the device to re-enroll. A reset is therefore not proof that management has been removed. Before wiping, retiring or transferring a phone, follow the organization’s approved unenrollment and reassignment procedure and verify the resulting state in both the zero-touch portal and Knox Manage.
When to stop and change the plan
Stop procurement or staging when the reseller cannot verify exact-model eligibility, the country support is unclear, the account link points to the wrong organization, or the deployment site cannot provide setup connectivity. Reassess Android zero-touch against KME or another supported enrollment path rather than improvising a manual process that produces inconsistent management.
The reliable sequence is simple but unforgiving: verify the precise device and region, use an enterprise account, link the correct Knox Manage tenant, create the current Samsung Knox Manage configuration, assign every registered device, and test the real hand-off. Completing those checks before shipment is what turns a Galaxy Enterprise Edition purchase into a repeatable managed deployment.
