To deploy a radio respawn point in Arma Reforger, take a radio backpack from an Ammunition Supply or Equipment Arsenal, carry it to a defensible forward position, drop it, look directly at it, and choose Deploy. Once deployed, squad members can select that radio in the deployment screen, provided the scenario, server and radio budget allow spawning.
Godlike.Host offers hosted Arma Reforger servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
Radio logistics matter as much as placement. Since the 1.2 update, a deployable radio costs 200 supplies, arrives with 100 supplies worth of spawns, and can be refilled with supplies in its immediate vicinity. Game Masters can instead configure unlimited spawning or a limited ticket budget, so there is no single universal respawn count.

What a deployed radio does
A portable radio is a forward squad spawn point. It lets your unit return close to an objective without relying on the Main Operating Base, a command truck or another established base. The radio does not become a spawn point merely because you are carrying it: it must be placed on the ground and deployed through its interaction menu.
After deployment, eligible squad members find the radio in the normal deploy or respawn interface. Selecting it moves them into the fight at that position, subject to any cooldown, supply, ticket and loadout rules configured for the current scenario or server.

Do not treat every radio as having a fixed number of uses. Bohemia Interactive’s 1.2 update, dated 26 June 2024, introduced refillable deployable radios and identifies three Game Master budget modes: unlimited spawning, supply usage and limited spawn tickets. A radio can therefore behave very differently in a public scenario, a custom Game Master session and a server using ticket restrictions.
What you need before leaving base
- Access to an Ammunition Supply or Equipment Arsenal in the scenario.
- A radio backpack selected from the arsenal’s equipment list.
- Enough carrying capacity for the rest of your combat loadout. The radio uses the backpack or equipment slot in the current interface, although exact inventory labels can vary between versions and scenarios.
- A plan for where supplies will come from after deployment.
- Squad agreement on the location and a route that teammates can use to reach the forward position.
Take the radio before you move out. If you forget it, you must return to an arsenal or obtain another one through whatever logistics the scenario provides. Because the item occupies valuable equipment space, decide whether the squad needs ammunition, medical equipment or other gear before committing to the radio.
How to deploy the radio: exact procedure
- Reach an arsenal. Open the Ammunition Supply or Equipment Arsenal available in your current scenario.
- Select the radio backpack. Equip the radio from the arsenal’s equipment choices. Check that it appears in your character’s carried gear before leaving the menu.
- Move to a useful forward position. Choose cover or concealment near the objective, but not so close that one grenade, vehicle or patrol can remove the squad’s only reinforcement point. Keep a route open for squad members and for bringing supplies.
- Put the radio on the ground. Use the drop command while carrying the radio. Verify that the backpack is visibly on the terrain rather than still attached to your character.
- Look directly at the dropped radio. Aim your crosshair at the radio until its interaction prompt appears.
- Choose the deploy interaction. Select Deploy (or the equivalent interaction label shown by your current build). Wait for the object to change into its deployed state.
- Confirm the spawn point. Open the deployment or respawn interface and check that the radio is listed. If it is not listed, troubleshoot the placement, budget and scenario restrictions before moving farther away.
- Tell the squad. Communicate the location over voice or map tools, including a landmark and a safe approach route. Teammates then select the deployed radio when they need to respawn.
- Plan resupply. Keep supplies in the radio’s immediate vicinity when the scenario uses supply-based spawning. A radio that runs out of its configured budget can disappear from the usable spawn list even though the object remains on the ground.
The interaction only works on the dropped radio itself. Looking at a nearby crate, vehicle or backpack will not deploy it. If several objects are close together, move or reposition until the radio’s own prompt is visible.

| Mechanic | Documented value or behavior | What it means in play |
|---|---|---|
| Deployment cost | 200 supplies | The radio consumes 200 supplies when the deployable radio is created under the 1.2 rules. |
| Initial spawn value | 100 supplies worth of spawns | It starts with a finite supply-backed allowance in supply-usage mode; this is not a promise of a fixed player count because each use and server rule can differ. |
| Refilling | Supported | Supplies can refill the radio and are used in its immediate vicinity when the scenario permits it. |
| Budget modes | Unlimited, supply usage or limited spawn tickets | The Game Master or scenario determines whether supplies, tickets or no finite budget controls availability. |
The phrase “100 supplies worth of spawns” is deliberately not the same as “100 respawns.” The game converts the configured supply value into spawn uses according to its rules, and a server may use ticket or unlimited mode instead. Do not promise squadmates a precise number without checking the active scenario’s budget.
Expect a delay or cooldown between uses when the server applies one. A radio can be fully supplied and still temporarily unavailable to a player who has just respawned. The cooldown is separate from the radio’s remaining supply or ticket budget.
How to keep a supply-based radio alive
- Stage a supply source before the first deployment wave if the objective is far from a base.
- Bring supplies into the radio’s immediate vicinity rather than leaving them at a distant vehicle or depot.
- Tell the squad that every respawn may consume the active budget; avoid unnecessary redeployments while the position is secure.
- Watch for the point to become unavailable after the budget is exhausted. Refilling cannot restore a ticket-limited radio unless the scenario explicitly allows it.
Where to place a radio
The strongest location balances four competing needs: distance to the objective, concealment from the enemy, a safe approach for your squad and access to logistics. A radio hidden so well that teammates cannot reach it is not useful; one placed in an obvious building entrance is easy to destroy.
Use terrain, cover and concealment
Place the radio behind a wall, inside a concealed fold in the ground, or in vegetation that does not force every spawning player into the same lethal doorway. Avoid skylines, road junctions, rooftops and other locations an enemy naturally checks. Leave enough room for players to orient themselves and exit without colliding with the object or exposing the entire squad.

Stay close enough to reinforce
A forward radio should shorten the trip to the objective without becoming part of the objective’s first-contact area. If the enemy captures the point, patrols around it or calls indirect fire, the radio may be destroyed or camped. A short movement from the radio to the fight is usually safer than placing it directly on the contested flag.
Provide an approach and an escape route
Mark a route from friendly territory to the radio that avoids predictable roads and open fields. Include a fallback position in case the radio’s area is compromised. Squad members should be able to leave the spawn point without all using one doorway or crossing the same exposed lane.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsCoordinate the location
Announce a landmark, compass direction or map reference. If only one player knows the hiding place, the squad may waste the radio’s budget by spawning blindly or may be unable to reinforce it after the carrier is killed. Reconfirm the position after major movement of the frontline.
Radio versus other spawn infrastructure
A portable radio is only one part of Arma Reforger‘s spawn and communications network. The alternatives have different mobility and signal requirements.

| Spawn option | Mobility | Concealment and exposure | Supply or budget behavior | Network requirement |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Deployable radio | Carried by one player and placed forward | Can be hidden, but vulnerable if discovered | 200-supply deployment cost; 100 supplies worth of initial spawns under the 1.2 supply rules; refillable when allowed; may use unlimited or ticket budgets | Uses the radio’s scenario rules; it is not the same system as a base’s signal link |
| Command truck | Mobile vehicle spawn point | Larger and easier to detect, but relocatable | Controlled by the scenario’s vehicle and spawn rules | Extends radio range according to the official Boot Camp mechanics |
| Base or established spawn | Usually fixed until moved or captured | More obvious and often contested | Uses its own scenario rules rather than the portable radio’s budget | Must receive the radio signal from the Main Operating Base and transmit back |
| Radio Relay Station | Placed infrastructure rather than a player-carried spawn | Can be targeted as a strategic asset | Does not replace a deployable radio’s supply budget | Raises a base’s stated radio range from 1,000 meters to 2,000 meters |
The relay range figures apply to bases and the radio network, not to a portable radio’s personal “broadcast radius.” Do not assume that moving a deployable radio outside a base’s signal range automatically breaks it; use the spawn list and current scenario rules to determine availability.

The wrong object is equipped
Confirm that you selected the radio backpack rather than a similarly shaped pack, a supply container or another equipment item. Return to an arsenal if necessary and check the equipment slot before attempting the drop again.
The radio is not actually on the ground
Use the drop command, then look for the physical backpack. If it remains attached to your character, the interaction cannot appear. Move a few steps away and aim at the object from different angles.
You are not looking at the radio
The prompt is context-sensitive. Aim at the body of the dropped radio, not at adjacent terrain, a weapon or a supply box. Separating nearby objects often makes the correct interaction visible.
Best Value
The scenario or server changed the interaction
Custom sessions can restrict equipment, disable spawning or alter interaction permissions. There is no universal error message that identifies every restriction, so compare the behavior with the server’s stated rules or ask the Game Master.

- Budget empty: In supply or ticket mode, the radio may have consumed its allowance. Bring supplies to its immediate vicinity if refill is enabled; a ticket budget may require a new radio or a scenario reset instead.
- Cooldown active: Wait for the respawn delay to expire. Other squad members may still see the point while your own cooldown is running, depending on the server’s rules.
- Spawn type disabled: The scenario can prohibit portable-radio spawning or permit only selected spawn systems.
- Loadout spawning disabled: The 1.2 update allows Game Masters to disable spawning with loadouts. If a custom loadout is missing or the radio is unavailable when that option is selected, use the permitted default configuration or ask the administrator.
- Radio destroyed or moved: Confirm that the object still exists at the communicated landmark. Enemy action, physics or a later relocation can invalidate the original callout.
How to resupply and recover from a failed position
- Identify whether the radio is using supply, ticket or unlimited mode. The deployment screen, scenario briefing or Game Master can provide the answer.
- For supply mode, move a compatible supply source to the radio’s immediate vicinity and perform the scenario’s normal resupply interaction.
- Verify that the budget increases before sending the squad through repeated respawns.
- If the radio is exposed, establish a replacement position before abandoning the old one. Tell everyone which point is current so players do not spawn into a compromised area.
- If the radio cannot be refilled because the server uses tickets or has disabled refills, conserve the remaining uses and request a new deployment through the squad’s logistics plan.
Do not rely on a radio’s visual presence as proof that it is still functional. The deployment interface is the practical authority: it shows whether the point is currently selectable for your character.
Game Master and server settings that change the experience
In a controlled session, the Game Master can choose the radio budget model and whether players may spawn with loadouts. Those settings can make a radio effectively permanent, consume physical supplies, or run out after a limited number of tickets. A guide that gives one fixed respawn count is therefore incomplete.
Server configuration can also affect who is eligible to use the point, when a cooldown starts, which equipment is available at arsenals and whether a portable radio can be deployed at all. If your steps work in one scenario but not another, compare the rules before assuming the item is broken.
Practical squad workflow
Before the assault
- Assign one player to carry the radio and another to manage supplies or navigation.
- Choose two candidate positions: a primary concealed site and a fallback site.
- Tell the squad what budget mode is active and whether loadout spawning is permitted.
During deployment
- Secure the immediate area before dropping the backpack.
- Deploy from cover, then confirm the radio appears in the respawn list.
- Send a short location callout with a landmark and a direction of travel.
After the frontline moves
- Check whether the original radio still shortens the route enough to justify its risk.
- Move supplies forward only when the route is covered and the scenario supports refilling.
- Prepare a replacement before the enemy can observe, flank or shell the current site.
Quick checklist
- Radio backpack equipped from an Ammunition Supply or Equipment Arsenal.
- Backpack slot and combat loadout planned.
- Covered, concealed position selected near—but not directly on—the objective.
- Radio dropped and the Deploy interaction completed.
- Radio visible in the deployment interface.
- Squad informed of the exact location and approach route.
- Supply, ticket or unlimited budget identified.
- Cooldown and loadout restrictions understood.
- Resupply or fallback plan ready.
Bottom line for reliable radio spawns
The reliable sequence is simple: arsenal, radio backpack, concealed forward position, drop, look at it, deploy, confirm, communicate and resupply. The tactical decision is harder: place the radio where it saves travel time without making the entire squad’s reinforcement pipeline easy to discover. Treat the 200-supply cost, 100-supply initial spawn value and Game Master budget mode as operating constraints, not as a guaranteed number of respawns. If the point fails, check the object, interaction, cooldown, budget, loadout permission and scenario rules in that order.
