Xenolord is a Dark/Dragon raid boss in Palworld. To summon it, craft a Xenolord Slab from four Xenolord Slab Fragments, then defeat the raid within 10 minutes. Ice and Dragon attackers are the essential counters. Standard Xenolord is already an army-and-equipment check; Xenolord Ultra requires a deep replacement roster, strong player damage, immediate add control and careful spacing against arena-wide attacks. Xenolord cannot be captured with a Pal Sphere, but victory awards an egg that hatches into it.

What Xenolord is and what counts as a win
Xenolord is a summoned raid encounter rather than a field boss. Its typing is Dark/Dragon, so Ice and Dragon damage are the most important offensive tools. You must defeat it before the raid timer expires; running out of time is a failure even if the boss has only a small amount of health remaining.

The encounter has two practical rules that change how you should prepare:
- The time limit is 10 minutes. Every second spent recovering a knocked-out Pal, searching for adds or running back into position reduces the damage window.
- Xenolord cannot be captured with a sphere. Bring your team to kill it, not to weaken it for capture.
Palworld.tools summarizes the reward and restrictions this way: “You get 10 minutes, no sphere can catch the boss, and winning awards an egg that hatches into it.”

How to get the Xenolord Slab
The summoning item requires 4× Xenolord Slab Fragment. Palworld Database’s 2026 guide lists hard Volcano and hard Snow Pal Expeditions as guaranteed fragment sources. That makes those two expeditions the most dependable farming route when you are specifically trying to assemble a slab.
| Source | Recorded availability | How to use the information |
|---|---|---|
| Hard Volcano Pal Expedition | Guaranteed Xenolord Slab Fragment reward | Prioritize this expedition whenever it is available and your expedition team can clear it. |
| Hard Snow Pal Expedition | Guaranteed Xenolord Slab Fragment reward | Use alongside hard Volcano rather than relying on random chest drops. |
| Other expedition or chest sources | Approximately 33% according to Palworld Database’s 2026 listing | Useful as supplementary rolls, but not as predictable as the two hard expeditions. |
| Sakurajima-related sources | Listed by Palworld.tools among possible fragment locations | Check expedition chests and region-specific loot while pursuing other objectives. |
The approximately 33% figure applies to the alternate sources listed by the database, not to every chest in the game. Treat those drops as probability-based and continue running the guaranteed hard expeditions when you need a fourth fragment.

- Collect four Xenolord Slab Fragments.
- Open the crafting menu at the station that displays the Xenolord Slab recipe.
- Select the slab recipe and verify that all four fragments are assigned before crafting.
- Move the completed slab to the raid-summoning location or inventory slot required by your base setup, then begin the encounter only after your replacement roster and ammunition are ready.
Do not spend your first slab immediately after obtaining it if your roster has only one or two viable Ice or Dragon attackers. A failed summon consumes the preparation time and leaves you without the guaranteed kill opportunity that the slab represents.
Xenolord weaknesses, scaling and attack patterns
Ice and Dragon attacks exploit Xenolord’s Dark/Dragon classification. The recommended lineup therefore mixes both elements instead of stacking one attacker and hoping it survives the entire timer.
The following numbers come from Palworld Database’s 2026 encounter guide and are version-specific guide data. Another current database page reports different standard level and health values, so use these figures as a planning scale rather than an immutable in-game specification.
| Measure | Standard encounter | Xenolord Ultra | What it means in practice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reported level | Level 65 | Level 80 | Ultra demands higher-level Pals, stronger passive skills and better player equipment. |
| Reported health scaling | About 280× normal HP | About 420× normal HP | You need sustained damage from multiple waves, not one carry Pal. |
| Reported boss damage | About 5× normal damage | About 13× normal damage | Knockouts are expected; build a rotation instead of treating every faint as a disaster. |
| Damage mitigation | About two-thirds of incoming damage absorbed | Armor allows approximately 9% of damage through | Ultra turns weak attacks into wasted time, making type advantage and player weak-point hits critical. |
Attacks you must respect
The documented cycle includes Cosmic Meteor, Satellite Bit laser drones, Astral Ray, Omega Laser and Beam Slash. These attacks punish a stacked army:
Rank #2
- Build your own zoo with over 500 different animals at your disposal, then splice together over 300,000 different animal combinations
- Keep your animals and your itors happy, with hundreds of buildings, foliage, path and enclosure decorations
- Hire the perfect employees to deal with a variety of life events
- Control everything that happens in your park, from what your animals eat to what eats your animals…
- Decide whether you want to run your Zoo above board... or break the law and pocket the extra cash
- Cosmic Meteor and other area attacks: spread the active wave so a single impact does not remove the whole group.
- Satellite Bit laser drones: watch for secondary beams while you are focused on Xenolord; they can finish weakened Pals that appear safe beside the boss.
- Astral Ray and Omega Laser: keep moving and avoid standing directly behind a Pal that is already being targeted. Your character can be hit while aiming at the boss.
- Beam Slash: leave space around each Pal and avoid collapsing the group when you recall or redeploy a survivor.
Large Pals can overlap multiple hitboxes and occupy more of the attack area. Compact survivors are often easier to keep alive because they can separate from one another and from the boss’s beam paths.
Build the raid base before you summon
Use an empty raid base with a wide footprint. A clear arena gives your Pals room to spread, lets you see laser and meteor indicators, and reduces the chance that furniture, crafting stations or walls trap a Pal inside an area attack.
Player equipment checklist
- Top-tier armor and a strong shield: the player must survive incidental beams and keep attacking while Pals rotate.
- A strong automatic or energy weapon: player damage helps close the timer gap when a Pal wave is recovering.
- Attack food: use a food buff that increases your damage before entering the arena.
- Healing items: carry enough to recover between attacks without abandoning the fight.
- Deep ammunition reserves: especially for Ultra, where a short supply can end the attempt before the boss reaches its final phase.
Reload, heal and restock before placing the slab. A raid attempt is a poor time to discover that your weapon uses a different ammunition type than the one you brought.
Prepare replacement attackers, not just a starting party
Repeated knockouts are normal. Breed and level enough Ice and Dragon attackers to replace fainted Pals several times. The objective is a continuous damage stream: recall a critically injured Pal, deploy a fresh counter and keep the boss under pressure while the defeated member recovers.
Give at least part of the roster broad-area or meteor skills for summoned adds. A single-target build can look efficient against Xenolord but lose the timer when adds interrupt attacks, occupy your Pals or force repeated emergency recalls.
Recommended Xenolord team
PalMods’ encounter-specific Ultra recommendation uses the following five roles. It is a practical composition guide, not an independently measured damage test.
Rank #3
| Pal | Primary role | Why it belongs in the plan |
|---|---|---|
| Frostallion | Ice carry and primary pressure | Ice attacks directly exploit Xenolord’s Dragon half and provide the main damage anchor. |
| Bastigor | Bulky Ice anchor | Provides a sturdier front-line option when the arena becomes saturated with beams and meteors. |
| Jetragon | Dragon pressure and moving-target coverage | Adds Dragon damage while staying useful when Xenolord or an add changes position. |
| Quivern | Accessible Dragon reserve | Extends the Dragon rotation so one knockout does not remove your type advantage. |
| Orserk | Additional Dragon damage | Supplies another Dragon attacker for sustained waves and replacement duty. |
If you do not have every listed Pal, preserve the roles rather than the names: field multiple Ice attackers, multiple Dragon attackers, at least one durable anchor and several reserves with area skills. A lower-profile reserve that survives a complete attack cycle is more useful than a nominally stronger Pal that is repeatedly caught in overlapping beams.
How to fight Xenolord: a timed execution plan
- Start with a spread formation. Deploy Ice and Dragon attackers at separate points around the boss. Do not place every Pal on the same side of Xenolord.
- Open with type-advantaged damage. Send Ice attackers into the first pressure window and add Dragon attackers as the boss turns or moves. Keep your character at a safe angle where weak points are visible.
- Clear summoned adds immediately. Adds are not optional side targets. Eliminate them with broad-area or meteor skills before they multiply incoming damage or distract the main wave.
- Keep player damage online. Use weak-point shots and explosive hits whenever Xenolord is not performing an unavoidable area attack. The player’s damage is especially important in Ultra because its armor lets only about 9% of ordinary incoming damage through, according to the cited guide.
- Read the arena, then move early. When Cosmic Meteor, Astral Ray, Omega Laser or Beam Slash telegraphs, create distance rather than waiting for the hit. Moving after the effect begins often leaves too little room.
- Rotate before the wipe. Recall a Pal that is nearly defeated and send in a replacement while the injured member recovers. Waiting for the entire wave to faint creates a long period with no effective damage.
- Maintain separation during rotations. Do not redeploy every reserve at one point. Keep Ice and Dragon waves distributed so one meteor or beam cannot erase the next wave before it attacks.
- Use the final minutes deliberately. Check the boss timer, ammunition and active roster. If the boss is still far above half health late in the attempt, stop risking a full-party wipe and switch to the safest surviving counters while continuing weak-point fire.
What changes in Xenolord Ultra
Ultra is not simply the standard raid with a larger health bar. The cited guide scales it to Level 80, approximately 420× normal HP and 13× normal damage, with armor allowing only about 9% of damage through. That combination makes every lost attack cycle expensive.
- Army depth: bring enough replacement Pals for multiple complete waves. A five-Pal party with no reserves is not an Ultra plan.
- Player contribution: carry top-tier armor, a shield, attack food, healing and a large ammunition reserve. Your weapon must continue firing while Pals are being rotated.
- Add control: assign area skills before the fight so adds are removed as soon as they appear.
- Positioning: use the base’s wide footprint and keep survivors compact enough to maneuver, but never stacked together.
- Damage quality: prioritize Ice and Dragon attacks with reliable uptime. A theoretical high-damage skill that repeatedly misses during movement is inferior to a slightly weaker attack that continues connecting.
Troubleshooting common failed attempts
| Symptom | Likely cause | Correction |
|---|---|---|
| The first wave is defeated almost immediately | Pals are stacked in one location and a meteor or beam hits all of them. | Use the wide base, place waves at separate angles and recall before a telegraphed area attack lands. |
| Xenolord still has substantial health near the timer limit | Too little Ice/Dragon coverage, excessive downtime during recalls or weak player damage. | Add replacement counters, shoot weak points and rotate before knockouts rather than after them. |
| Pals spend the fight attacking adds | Adds are appearing faster than the team can clear them. | Assign broad-area or meteor skills and remove adds immediately when they spawn. |
| The player dies while the roster is healthy | Armor, shield, healing or movement is inadequate against beams. | Upgrade defensive gear, carry healing and move on the attack telegraph instead of after impact. |
| Ultra attempt ends with no ammunition | The reserve was sized for a normal boss rather than a 10-minute, high-mitigation raid. | Carry a deep ammunition reserve and reload during safe movement windows. |
| One strong Pal performs well, then the raid collapses | The team has no replacement depth. | Breed and level additional Ice and Dragon attackers; treat the encounter as an army check. |
Rewards and what to expect after victory
Winning the raid awards a Xenolord egg that hatches into Xenolord. PalMods also lists a Huge Dark Egg for Xenolord and endgame raid materials among Ultra rewards. Because the boss cannot be captured with a sphere, the egg is the intended way to obtain the Pal from this encounter.
For a first clear, standard difficulty is the sensible benchmark: prove that your base layout, add control and roster rotation can sustain ten minutes. Move to Ultra only when the standard plan leaves you with spare attackers, ammunition and healing rather than a single exhausted carry.
Quick pre-summon checklist
- Four Xenolord Slab Fragments collected and the slab crafted.
- Hard Volcano and hard Snow expedition routes used first when farming additional fragments.
- Multiple Ice and Dragon attackers leveled, with reserves ready.
- At least one area-damage or meteor option for adds.
- Empty, wide raid base with clear movement lanes.
- Top-tier armor, shield, automatic or energy weapon, attack food and healing.
- Enough ammunition for the full 10-minute attempt, with extra depth for Ultra.
- Formation planned so meteor and beam attacks cannot hit the entire army at once.
The practical verdict
Defeat Xenolord by treating the summon as a timed endurance raid: farm four fragments through the guaranteed hard Volcano and hard Snow expeditions, craft the slab, field Ice and Dragon attackers in separate waves, clear adds immediately and keep your own weak-point damage active. Standard difficulty tests whether your roster and base can maintain pressure; Ultra tests whether you can replace an army while surviving severe area damage and armor mitigation. If your team cannot sustain ten minutes of separated, type-advantaged attacks, improve the roster and equipment before spending another slab.
