The first step is identifying which space you mean. Hello Kitty Island Adventure distinguishes the upgradable Player Home from character homes, Pocket Rooms, and cabins. The clearest documented decorating controls apply to cabins: enter decorating mode, place furniture, select an item to rotate or remove it, and use the paint-roller menu to change wallpaper or flooring from your inventory. The Player Home is also described officially as customizable, but the exact current menus and unlock conditions are not established in the available official documentation.
Use the cabin instructions below when you are editing a cabin. For the Player Home, use the in-game prompts shown by your current version rather than assuming that cabin controls are identical.

Identify the space before you start
“Home” can refer to several different spaces in the game. The official App Store listing’s feature history separately mentions a customizable Player Home, character homes, Pocket Rooms, and cabins. They are not interchangeable menus, so a button or requirement documented for a cabin should not automatically be treated as a Player Home instruction.

| Space | What is established | How to use this guide |
|---|---|---|
| Player Home | The official listing describes it as a customizable space that can be upgraded. | Look for the decorating controls and unlock requirements presented in your own game. Exact controls are not specified in the inspected official material. |
| Cabins | Community-maintained documentation describes furniture placement, wallpaper, flooring, floorplans, layouts, and kits. | Follow the step-by-step instructions in the next sections. |
| Character homes | The App Store feature history lists them as a separate home feature. | Do not assume they use the cabin editor unless your game explicitly shows the same controls. |
| Pocket Rooms | The App Store feature history lists Pocket Rooms separately from the Player Home and cabins. | Treat their menus and restrictions as their own system. |
The official site also presents cabin decoration as part of the game and lists Nintendo Switch editions. Platform availability does not establish that every platform uses the same button prompts, so follow the labels and controller icons displayed on your device. See the official App Store listing and official game site for the publisher’s current feature and platform information.

How to customize a cabin
The following sequence describes the cabin editor documented by the community-maintained official game wiki. Menu names and controller prompts can change between updates or platforms; use the on-screen confirmation shown by your version.
- Enter the cabin’s decorating mode. Open the cabin and activate its decorating option. You should see the furniture editing interface rather than the normal movement view.
- Open the furniture option. Use the furniture control to browse furnishings available to place. The catalogue is drawn from items you have available, so an item not in your inventory will not be placeable through this menu.
- Place an item. Choose a furnishing, position it in the room, and confirm the placement using the prompt on screen. Check its footprint against walls, doors, and other objects before confirming.
- Select a placed item for editing. Selecting furniture reveals actions for rotating it, removing it, or confirming the current arrangement.
- Save your arrangement by confirming. Leave the editor only after the positions and orientations look correct. If you are testing a layout, keep the item selected until you have chosen the action you actually want.
The wiki’s cabin instructions are documented at House upgrade. Because that page is community-maintained rather than a developer manual, verify a control in your own game if the wording or button icon differs.
How do I move furniture in a cabin?
Furniture is moved by selecting the item while you are in cabin decorating mode, then changing its position before confirming. Selection exposes three useful actions:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Rotate: change the item’s facing so it aligns with a wall, table, doorway, or display.
- Remove: take the selected item out of the room. The documented cabin behavior returns the removed item to your inventory rather than destroying it.
- Confirm: accept the selected item’s current position and orientation.
A practical rearrangement is therefore reversible: select an object, rotate or reposition it, and confirm; if it does not work in the room, select it again and remove it to return it to storage. The documented controls do not say that every furnishing can be placed in every location, so an unsuccessful placement may reflect the room’s available space or the object’s footprint rather than a lost item.
A careful way to test a new layout
- Start with large pieces and place them where they will not block the entrance or the room’s usable path.
- Use the rotate action to test each orientation instead of removing and replacing the item repeatedly.
- Add smaller decorations after the main pieces are confirmed.
- If a piece crowds the room, select it and use remove; check your inventory before placing an alternative.
How do I change wallpaper and flooring?
Cabin wallpaper and flooring are changed through the paint-roller icon. The documented sequence is:
- Enter cabin decorating mode.
- Choose the paint-roller icon.
- Select the wallpaper or flooring style you want from items in the player’s inventory.
- Preview or apply the choice using the confirmation prompt shown by your platform.
The style must already be available in your inventory; the paint-roller menu is a way to apply an owned style, not a guarantee that every style is unlocked. If a design is missing, leave the editor and check whether you actually possess that item before troubleshooting the menu. The wiki documents these wallpaper and flooring controls on its House upgrade page.

Choosing an order that avoids rework
Set the room’s wallpaper and flooring before fine-tuning small furniture placements. A different floor or wall color can change how you judge spacing and contrast, and changing the floorplan later can clear the room. Apply the broad surface choices first, then place large furniture, and finish with small decorative pieces.

How cabin floorplans, layouts, and kits work
Cabin floorplans change the shape or arrangement of the available space. The documented cabin system starts with a small-room plan unlocked initially; other plans can alter the cabin’s shape. The exact unlock conditions for additional plans can depend on the game version, so use the requirement shown in your game rather than relying on an old checklist.
Changing a floorplan
- Open the cabin’s floorplan or layout control from the decorating interface.
- Review the proposed plan before applying it. A different shape can change where furniture fits and how rooms connect.
- Expect the existing spaces to be cleared when the plan changes.
- When the game offers to save the removed contents as a kit, choose that option if you want to preserve the arrangement for later.
- Apply the new plan, then decorate each resulting space again using the furniture and paint-roller controls.
Clearing is the critical distinction: changing a plan is not the same as rotating a single item. Save the contents as a kit when offered if you are experimenting, moving to a larger arrangement, or planning to restore the previous setup. The floorplan and kit behavior is described on the wiki’s How to use flooring page.
Decorating larger plans
In a larger plan with separate spaces, each space is decorated independently. Finish one room, exit or switch spaces through the prompt available in your version, and then decorate the next. A kit preserves removed contents, but it does not mean that every room automatically shares one layout; treat each separate space as its own decorating area.
Player Home: what is confirmed and what is not
The Player Home should not be confused with a cabin. The official App Store version history describes the Player Home as customizable and upgradable, and also mentions selected floors and walls that can be customized. However, the inspected official material does not establish the exact Player Home menu path, the complete list of unlock conditions, or whether its controls match the cabin editor.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →To work on the Player Home safely:
- Open the Player Home itself, not a cabin or another character’s space.
- Look for the decorating or upgrade prompt presented in your current version.
- Read the on-screen labels for furniture, surfaces, rooms, and confirmation actions instead of substituting cabin terminology.
- Record the requirement shown when a feature is locked; do not assume that a cabin floorplan requirement applies to the Player Home.
- If a guide’s button prompt conflicts with your screen, follow your game’s prompt and check the latest official listing for feature changes.
This cautious approach matters because the App Store listing is a living platform page: its version history can change as the game is updated. The listing and the official site establish the feature distinction, but they do not provide a complete Player Home control manual.

Character homes and Pocket Rooms
Character homes and Pocket Rooms appear as separate features in the official version history. That separation is useful when a decoration seems to be missing: you may be editing a different home type from the one in which the item was unlocked or placed. Before searching for a hidden cabin button, check the name of the space in the game’s heading or entry point.
No inspected official instructions establish that character homes or Pocket Rooms support the full cabin set of floorplans, kits, wallpaper, and flooring controls. Apply only the actions your current interface offers. If the game shows a furniture editor but not a floorplan control, do not infer that the floorplan is simply locked; it may belong only to cabins or to another home feature.
A practical decorating workflow
Once you know you are editing a cabin, this order minimizes wasted work and makes experimentation reversible.
- Inventory check: collect the furniture, wallpaper, and flooring styles you intend to use. The paint-roller menu draws from owned items.
- Plan selection: choose the cabin floorplan before placing valuables. A plan change can clear the spaces.
- Surface pass: apply flooring and wallpaper with the paint-roller icon.
- Large-furniture pass: place beds, tables, seating, and other large pieces first. Rotate each item to test its orientation.
- Path check: inspect entrances and the space around interactive or frequently used areas. Remove and return any item that creates an awkward arrangement.
- Detail pass: add smaller decorations after the main arrangement is confirmed.
- Kit protection: before a major floorplan experiment, save removed contents as a kit whenever the game offers that choice.
Theme ideas without treating them as requirements
The official Tea Garden page presents a furniture and decor set with a garden-party style for cabins. It is an example of a coordinated theme, not a requirement for customization and not a claim that every themed item is needed for a particular layout. You can use the same planning principle with any styles already in your inventory: choose a surface palette, establish large furniture, then add accents.
See the example set on the official Tea Garden page. The page does not change the basic cabin editing sequence.

The furniture menu is missing
Confirm that you entered a cabin’s decorating mode rather than normal movement, the Player Home, a character home, or a Pocket Room. The documented furniture option belongs to the cabin editor. If you are definitely in a cabin and the label differs, use the current on-screen prompt because platform or version changes may rename controls.

I cannot find a wallpaper or floor
Open the paint-roller icon and check your inventory. The documented menu selects styles from items you already possess. A style that is not in inventory will not appear as an available choice; the cabin instructions do not establish a universal unlock list.
Changing the floorplan removed my furniture
Clearing existing spaces is part of changing plans. If you selected the offered kit option, look for the saved kit in the location your current version uses for stored cabin contents. If you did not save a kit, the documented behavior still returns removed individual furniture to inventory when removed through the item controls, but the floorplan page does not promise recovery of every prior arrangement as one package.
The controls in a guide do not match my device
Do not substitute a button press from another platform. Read the action labels and controller icons displayed in your game. The official site lists Nintendo Switch editions, while the App Store listing covers the Apple platform; these listings establish availability, not identical input prompts.
A Player Home guide tells me to use cabin steps
Check the space name first. Cabin controls are documented separately from the Player Home. The Player Home is described as customizable and upgradable, but exact menus and unlock requirements are not established in the official material cited here, so rely on the current in-game instructions for that space.
Quick checklist
- Identify whether you are editing the Player Home, a character home, a Pocket Room, or a cabin.
- Use cabin instructions only when the space is a cabin.
- Enter decorating mode and open the furniture option to place items.
- Select placed furniture to rotate, remove, or confirm it.
- Remember that removing a cabin item returns it to inventory.
- Use the paint-roller icon to choose owned wallpaper and flooring.
- Choose a floorplan before detailed decorating because changing plans clears spaces.
- Save removed contents as a kit when the game offers that option.
- Decorate separate rooms in a larger plan independently.
- For the Player Home and other home types, follow the labels and requirements shown by your current version.
What you should remember
For a cabin, the reliable sequence is: decorating mode, furniture option, place and select items, then use rotate, remove, or confirm; use the paint roller for owned wallpaper and flooring; and protect an existing arrangement with a kit before changing the floorplan. The Player Home is a separate customizable, upgradable feature, but its exact controls are version-dependent in the official material available here. Keeping that distinction clear prevents most “missing button” and “wrong home” problems.
