You can change a Nothing phone’s lock-screen clock and manage its widgets from the lock-screen customization surface, but the exact controls depend on your phone model and installed Nothing OS build. Wake the lock screen, open the customization or personalization action shown on your device, select a clock style, then add or rearrange the widgets offered by that build.
Nothing OS 3.0 expanded the clock and widget choices, while Nothing OS 4.0 refreshed the clock typography and added two clock faces. Because those releases reached different Nothing and CMF phones at different times, another Nothing phone may show a different catalog even when the owners follow apparently identical steps.

What you can customize
The lock screen has three separate areas to think about:
- Clock face: the font, arrangement and visual treatment used for the time.
- Widgets: compact information or controls placed in the available lock-screen widget area.
- Notification privacy: whether notification details appear while the phone is locked. This is configured in Settings, not in the clock picker.
Nothing OS does not expose one universal catalog for every device. Model, region, software branch and update level can all affect which clock faces, widget types and layout controls appear.

How Nothing OS versions changed the lock screen
| Nothing OS release | Documented change | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing OS 3.0 | Release notes for the Phone (2) Open Beta 1 in 2024 describe “upgraded clock faces” and “expanded widget space, allowing you to place more widgets on your lock screen.” | A phone on a compatible OS 3.0 build may expose more clock styles and room for more widgets than an earlier build. |
| Nothing OS 4.0 | The 2025 general-release announcement says the lock-screen fonts and style were refreshed and that two new clock faces were introduced. | A phone that has received OS 4.0 may show a different clock picker from an OS 3.0 phone. |
The OS 4.0 rollout began with Phone (3) and then expanded to other Nothing and CMF phones. That rollout history is why a feature described in an announcement may not be visible on your handset yet. Check the model and build rather than assuming that every Nothing phone has the same selection.
Before you start
Check the phone and software version
Open the phone’s software-information page to identify the installed Nothing OS version. To look for an update, use Settings > System > System update if that route is present on your build. Nothing’s support index also points to Settings > About phone > Software info for checking software information and updates. Labels and placement can differ between releases, so use the Settings search field for “system update” or “software info” when necessary.
Make sure the lock-screen controls are available
Wake the display and, if the phone asks for it, unlock it before trying to edit the lock screen. Some builds expose customization directly from the lock screen; others make the action available only after the device is authenticated. Look for the customization or personalization control shown by your installed build rather than following a button name from a different phone.
Know what may vary
- A clock face documented for one OS release may not be included in an earlier release.
- A widget can be absent because the app or service is not installed, because the model has a different catalog, or because the available area is full.
- The number of widgets that fit depends on the layout offered by the device; Nothing has not published one universal widget count for all phones.
Change the lock-screen clock
- Wake the phone. Turn on the display so the lock screen is visible. Authenticate if the customization control requires it.
- Open lock-screen customization. Use the customization or personalization action displayed on your lock screen. The wording and location are build-dependent.
- Open the clock control. Tap the clock preview or the control labelled for clock style, clock face or a similar option.
- Browse the available faces. Swipe through the previews. The picker shows only styles supported by that phone and installed build; it is normal for two Nothing phones to show different lists.
- Choose a style. Select the face that gives you the right balance of legibility, information density and appearance with your wallpaper.
- Apply the change. If the editor presents Save, Apply or a check-mark control, use it before leaving the editor. If it applies changes immediately, return to the lock screen and verify the result.
How to choose between faces
Nothing’s release notes establish that multiple faces exist, but they do not rank them. Compare the options on your own phone using these practical criteria:
Rank #2
- Compatible with MagSafe: Equipped with 38 powerful N52SH magnets, this case is fully compatible with most MagSafe magnetic accessories, such as wireless chargers, card holders, car phone mounts, and ring holders/stands 【Note: NOT compatible with regular magnetic car phone mount or non-MagSafe accessories】
- Camera Cover: With an integrated camera cover and raised lips around the screen, your phone is protected from scratches whether it is placed face up or down on a table
- Military-Grade Drop Protection & SGS Certified: The solid back cover and soft bumper, combined with built-in air cushions, effectively absorb shock from drops, ensuring reliable protection for your valuable investment. This case is SGS certified for added peace of mind
- Translucent Frosted Smooth Back & Enhanced Grip: Preserve the original beauty of your Nothing Phone 4A Pro while preventing fingerprints and scratches. The silky smooth skin not only provides a great grip but also adds a touch of elegance
- Convenient Design Details: Nothing Phone 4A Pro case Compatible with Nothing Phone 4A Pro (6.83" 2026 released) only. Semi-connected buttons provide clear feedback, while the reserved lanyard hole allows you to attach a lanyard or wrist strap for added security, and expanded port cutouts provide easy access
| Criterion | What to check | When it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Readability | Can you read the time instantly at normal viewing distance? | Useful when you check the phone frequently without unlocking it. |
| Information density | Does the face leave room for the widgets you actually use? | Important when calendar, weather or timer information is more valuable than a large clock. |
| Vertical space | How much of the widget area does the clock occupy? | Some arrangements leave more room for additional widgets than others. |
| Always-On Display visibility | Is the time and any secondary information clear in the Always-On Display presentation on your model? | Relevant if you rely on the ambient lock-screen view. |
| Wallpaper contrast | Does the type remain distinct from the image or color behind it? | Prevents a stylish face from becoming difficult to read. |
Add, rearrange and remove lock-screen widgets
- Open the same lock-screen editor. Wake the lock screen and use its customization or personalization action.
- Enter the widget area. Tap the widget region or the control for adding widgets. The available catalog is generated for your model and build.
- Add a widget. Choose a widget from the list shown, then place it in an available slot or position. If the editor presents size or placement choices, select the one that preserves the information you need.
- Rearrange widgets. Use the editor’s move, drag or position control to change their order. The exact gesture varies by build.
- Remove an item. Select the widget and use the remove control shown by the editor. Removing one can free space for another.
- Save or apply. Confirm the layout if the editor provides a Save, Apply or check-mark command, then return to the lock screen to check spacing and readability.
Nothing OS 3.0 specifically expanded the space available for lock-screen widgets. That does not guarantee the same capacity on every phone: the catalog, widget dimensions and arrangement still vary by model and release. If a widget does not appear, first check whether its supporting app is installed and whether the editor is already full.
Build a useful layout
Start with the information you need before unlocking. A compact combination can be more useful than filling every available position. For example, place a frequently checked item in the most visible slot, then add secondary information only if it remains readable beside the clock. Evaluate the finished arrangement with the actual wallpaper and lock-screen brightness rather than judging the editor preview alone.
Why another Nothing phone has different clock faces
Different Nothing OS versions
OS 3.0 and OS 4.0 do not have identical clock selections. OS 3.0 introduced upgraded faces and more widget space; OS 4.0 refreshed the fonts and style and added two faces. A phone that has not moved to the newer release cannot display additions that belong to that release.

Different rollout stages
The OS 4.0 general release started with Phone (3) and expanded to other Nothing and CMF devices. Rollouts can therefore leave two owners on different builds even if both phones are sold under the Nothing brand.
Rank #3
- Heavy-duty bumper frame case
- Anti-slip embossed texture for a secure grip
- Non-yellowing TPU bumper and polycarbonate back
- Air Cushion Bumper design for enhanced shock protection
- Built-in strap holes to attach wrist straps and other accessories
Different models and catalogs
Nothing’s support material does not establish one universal list of supported faces or widgets. A model-specific catalog may omit an option shown in a demonstration for another handset. Treat the picker on your phone as the authoritative list for that build.
Troubleshoot a missing customization option
The customization action is not visible
- Wake the display fully and authenticate if the lock-screen editor requires an unlocked session.
- Search Settings for “system update” and install an update offered for your model, then check the lock screen again.
- Confirm the phone model and Nothing OS version. A feature may belong to a release that has not reached your device.
- Restart the phone after an update and reopen the editor. If the control is still absent, consult Nothing’s support material for the exact model and build.
The face shown in a tutorial is missing
Check the tutorial’s OS version and phone model against yours. The OS 4.0 announcement’s two new faces are not evidence that every earlier or unrelated model has them. Update availability and regional rollout can also differ.
A widget cannot be added
- Check whether the related app or service is installed and has completed its setup.
- Remove an existing widget to test whether the problem is simply a full layout.
- Look for a different size or position offered by the editor.
- Verify that the widget is supported on your model and build; Nothing does not publish one identical widget catalog for all phones.
The change does not appear after leaving the editor
Return to the lock-screen editor and look for an explicit Save, Apply or check-mark control. If the build applies changes immediately, lock and wake the phone again to force a fresh preview. If the style still does not change, install any pending system update and repeat the selection.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteControl notification privacy separately
Changing a clock or widget does not determine how much notification content is visible. Nothing documents two separate privacy controls:
Rank #4
- Hybrid technology that is made of a TPU bumper with a durable PC back
- Crystal clear transparency flaunts original phone design
- Raised bezels lift screen and camera off flat surfaces
- Pronounced buttons are easy to feel and press, while large cutouts fit most cables
- Spigen Ultra Hybrid Case Compatible with Nothing Phone (3)
Personalize notification previews
Go to Settings > Lock Screen and AOD > Privacy and personalize the notification preview. This is the control to use when you want to adjust what information appears on the lock screen while retaining notifications.
Hide all lock-screen notifications
Go to Settings > Notifications > Notifications on Lock Screen, then select Don’t show any notifications. This suppresses lock-screen notifications rather than changing the clock or widget layout.
A practical setup sequence
If you are configuring a new phone or checking whether an update changed the interface, use this order:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Record the phone model and installed Nothing OS version.
- Install any update offered through the system-update or software-information screen.
- Wake and authenticate the lock screen if required.
- Choose the clock face first, because its size and arrangement affect the room left for widgets.
- Add only the widgets you can read at a glance, then rearrange them around the clock.
- Lock and wake the display to check the real result, including the Always-On Display view if you use it.
- Review notification privacy separately and choose either personalized previews or no lock-screen notifications.
What the official information does and does not establish
Nothing’s OS 3.0 notes establish upgraded faces and expanded widget space, and the OS 4.0 announcement establishes refreshed fonts and style plus two additional faces. Those statements confirm the direction of the feature, not a fixed list for every phone. They do not establish a universal widget count, identical menu sequence, battery effect, or a single rollout date for all models.
For that reason, the most reliable instructions are version-aware: open the controls exposed by your own build, compare the available options on the actual lock screen, and use the model-specific update and support paths when an option is missing.
