To customize a pricing table in Photoshop, open the template as an editable working copy, change its type layers and artwork, preserve the layered source file, then create a separate JPEG or PNG copy for sharing. The reliable workflow is nondestructive: keep plan names, prices and feature rows as live text; use Smart Objects for replaceable logos or images; and only consider Photoshop’s data-driven graphics when you must produce many variants.
What you need before editing
You need a desktop version of Photoshop that can open the template, the template file itself (usually a PSD), and the brand material you intend to insert. If the design comes from Adobe Stock, Adobe’s desktop documentation lists Photoshop 2017 release or later and an active internet connection for browsing and licensing. Licensing also requires eligible Stock entitlements or credits. Those are conditions for the Stock workflow, not a promise that every pricing-table asset is available or that a particular subscription price applies.

- A working copy: Keep the downloaded or licensed file available as an untouched reference.
- Content to insert: Final plan names, recurring prices, billing notes, feature limits, logo files, colors and destination details.
- Output requirements: Know whether the graphic will appear on a website, in an email, in a presentation or as a print file. Photoshop documentation does not prescribe one universal pricing-table size.
- Backup storage: Layered PSD files can be large, especially when they contain embedded Smart Objects. Save the source where it will be backed up.
Open the template without risking the original
- Open Photoshop and choose File > Open, then select the template.
- If it is an Adobe Stock template, preview it and complete the licensing step when required. Adobe says Photoshop opens the licensed template as an editable copy; changing that document does not modify the original template asset.
- Immediately choose File > Save As (or the equivalent save command in your version) and give the working file a project name such as
Acme-pricing-table-source.psd. Keep the layered format. - Open the Layers panel and expand groups. Do not flatten, merge or rasterize anything while you are still identifying the structure.
Saving a named working copy first prevents a common mistake: editing a downloaded file, then overwriting it with a one-off campaign version. The source PSD is the reusable master; exported images are delivery files.

Templates often contain groups for each plan column, a header, feature rows, badges and background decoration. Toggle the eye icon on a layer to identify what it controls, and rename ambiguous layers as you go. Clear names such as Plan-Pro-Price, Plan-Basic-Feature-03 and Logo-SmartObject make later revisions safer.

Find live type layers
A type layer remains editable text. Select a layer in the Layers panel and look for the type-layer indicator, then select the Type tool and click the words on the canvas. Plan names, prices, billing periods and feature descriptions should each be separate type layers whenever the template provides them that way.
Separate content from decoration
Shape layers, fills, strokes and icons are not text. Avoid replacing a decorative layer simply because it sits near a label. If a price appears to be part of a single image, check whether the template includes a hidden or grouped live-text layer before rebuilding it.
Duplicate before destructive experiments
Right-click a type layer and choose Duplicate Layer before testing a radically different font, effect or layout. Keep the duplicate hidden as a fallback. Rasterizing a type layer converts the characters into pixels and removes direct text editability, so do not rasterize a price or feature row merely to make a small adjustment.

- Select the intended type layer in the Layers panel.
- Choose the Type tool and click in the text on the canvas. Select the characters you want to replace, or select all of the text in that layer.
- Enter the new plan name, price, billing interval or feature wording.
- Adjust font family, weight, size, leading, tracking, alignment and color in the type controls. Match the existing hierarchy first; a price should remain visually dominant over explanatory copy.
- Commit the edit using Photoshop’s commit control or by selecting another tool. Uncommitted text can make it appear that a change was not saved.
- Repeat for every plan and feature row, then save the PSD.
Keep the wording compact enough to fit the design. A phrase such as “Unlimited projects, team permissions and priority email support” may wrap to three lines where the original had one. Wrapping can increase the height of a row and push later content out of alignment. Revise the copy, reduce the type size modestly, or adjust the text box rather than shrinking the entire table until it is unreadable.

Use a consistent pricing convention
Decide whether each amount is monthly, annual, per user or a one-time fee before editing. Put the billing qualifier in its own layer when the template separates it from the number. If the qualifier is part of the same text layer, preserve a clear typographic distinction with size or weight instead of deleting it. This avoids a polished table whose prices cannot be interpreted.
Check every column after each substantial edit
- Compare the left edge of each plan name and the baseline of each price.
- Check that feature rows begin at the same vertical position across columns.
- Look for clipped characters at the edge of a text box.
- Inspect punctuation, currency symbols, decimal separators and capitalization consistently.
- Zoom out to the intended viewing size to confirm that contrast and hierarchy still work.
Replace logos and imagery with Smart Objects when possible
A logo, product screenshot or decorative illustration may be stored as a Smart Object. Smart Objects preserve the original content and support nondestructive transformations, so scaling or rotating the object does not permanently rewrite the source pixels in the template.
Edit the contents of an existing Smart Object
- In the Layers panel, double-click the Smart Object thumbnail.
- Photoshop opens the object’s contents in a separate document.
- Replace or edit the logo or artwork there, then save that object document.
- Return to the pricing-table document and verify the updated appearance.
This approach is useful when the template already contains masks, shadows or perspective effects that should remain intact. If the object is linked rather than embedded, keep the linked file in a stable location and include it with the project handoff. Moving or renaming a linked file can break the relationship. Embedded objects travel inside the PSD but can increase file size; linked objects reduce the main file’s payload but add a dependency on the external asset.

Replace an object without destroying its treatment
When Photoshop offers a replace-content command for a Smart Object, use it instead of deleting the layer and rebuilding effects. Confirm that the replacement has a suitable aspect ratio and transparent background if the original relied on transparency. Recheck clipping masks, borders and drop shadows afterward, because a different logo shape may expose gaps that the original did not.

Apply branding while protecting readability
Change colors on the designated text, shape or adjustment layers rather than painting directly over the table. Preserve sufficient contrast between text and its background, especially for small feature rows. If the template uses a highlighted “recommended” column, keep that distinction clear after changing your palette; do not let every column acquire the same accent treatment.
Replace placeholder wording everywhere, including tiny labels, footnotes, button text and hidden states that may become visible later. Search the Layers panel for terms such as “Lorem,” “Plan,” “Price” or “Feature” to catch leftovers. A hidden placeholder can still appear if a variant or visibility setting is enabled.
Keep the editable source and export a separate shareable file
Save the layered PSD (or another layered Photoshop format supported by your workflow) as the source of truth. Adobe’s file-saving guidance describes Save a Copy as a way to create a flattened JPEG or PNG while leaving the original document unchanged.

- Save the source PSD after all edits.
- Choose File > Save a Copy.
- Choose PNG or JPEG according to the destination and transparency requirement.
- Use a distinct filename such as
Acme-pricing-table-web.pngso nobody mistakes the flattened file for the editable source. - Open the exported file independently and inspect it at 100 percent. Confirm that no text is clipped, colors shifted unexpectedly or transparency was lost.
Choose the pixel dimensions from the destination’s specification. A website hero, email module, presentation slide and print handout have different requirements; the consulted Adobe documentation does not establish one correct size for all pricing tables. If a platform will resize the image, export enough resolution for its documented display size without making the file needlessly heavy.

Produce many pricing-table variants with data-driven graphics
Manual layer editing is fastest for one table or a small number of carefully art-directed versions. Photoshop’s data-driven graphics become useful when the same design must be generated for many plans, currencies, audiences or feature combinations. The system supports text replacement, pixel replacement and visibility variables.
Prepare the template for variables
- Put each replaceable item on its own layer. A plan name, price, feature sentence, logo image and optional badge should not share a layer if they need independent values.
- Use clear, stable layer names. They become the mapping points between the design and the data set.
- Define variables for the items that change: text variables for wording, pixel variables for images, and visibility variables for showing or hiding layers.
- Build data sets containing the value for each variable. Keep names and values consistent so one missing field does not shift content into the wrong column.
- Preview each data set in Photoshop before exporting. Long text still has to fit the original text box, and a replacement image still has to work with the template’s mask and effects.
Every variable-driven item must occupy its own layer. If a price and its billing qualifier are fused into one layer, they cannot be independently replaced. Data-driven graphics also do not remove the need for visual review: an automated set can generate technically valid images with awkward line breaks or an overcrowded feature list.
Choose manual editing or automation

Troubleshoot the failures that matter most
The words cannot be edited
You may have selected a rasterized layer, a flattened export or the wrong layer inside a group. Return to the layered PSD, identify the original type layer and duplicate it before experimenting. If the template contains no live text for that element, you may need to recreate it as a new type layer while matching the surrounding formatting.
The new text is cut off or overlaps another column
Inspect the text box boundary and line breaks at 100 percent zoom. Shorten the wording first, then adjust the box or typography in small increments. Recheck every column because changing one row’s height can disturb alignment with neighboring plans.

The logo looks blurry
Check whether the source image is low resolution and whether it was enlarged beyond its useful size. Prefer a vector-based or suitably large replacement inside the existing Smart Object. Do not expect exporting at a larger pixel dimension to restore detail that was never present.
The Smart Object update does not appear
Save the Smart Object’s separate document, return to the parent PSD and allow Photoshop to refresh it. For a linked object, verify that the linked file still exists at its expected path. If the link was broken, relink the correct asset and inspect masks and effects again.
The exported image has no transparency
JPEG does not support transparency. Export a PNG when the table must sit over another background, and verify the checkerboard areas in the exported file or in the destination application.

Use explicit filenames for the layered source, review copy and each delivery format. Keep the PSD open while making revisions, and never treat a PNG or JPEG as the master because those formats do not retain live layers.
Final pre-delivery checklist
- All plan names, prices, billing terms and feature rows are current.
- No placeholder, hidden or accidental duplicate text remains visible.
- Type layers remain editable in the source; nothing important was rasterized.
- Columns, rows, badges and baselines align at the intended viewing size.
- Logo and image replacements preserve the intended masks, effects and proportions.
- Linked Smart Object files, if any, are stored with the project and will remain available.
- The layered PSD is saved separately from every flattened delivery copy.
- The chosen PNG or JPEG format matches the destination’s transparency and compression needs.
- The exported file was reopened and checked independently before publication.
The dependable pattern is simple: edit live layers in a protected working PSD, use Smart Objects for artwork that may change, and export only after the layout has been checked at its real delivery size. Add data-driven variables when repetition—not a single custom design—is the problem you are solving.
