For preview cards beside links on your Blogger site, start with Blogger’s built-in Blog List (blogroll) widget. Check whether its settings and your theme offer thumbnails; if they do not provide the card layout you want, theme customization is the next route. This is different from a preview card that appears when someone shares your Blogger page on social media.
What a blogroll preview card is—and what it is not
A blogroll preview card is an on-page presentation of another website’s link, potentially including its name, image, and description. It appears in your Blogger layout. A social-sharing preview is generated when someone shares one of your Blogger URLs on a service such as Facebook or X. The two use different mechanisms: social metadata does not, by itself, turn links in a blogroll into cards.

The Blogger guidance reviewed does not establish a separate set of controls for India. Follow the labels and options shown in your own account and check the result on the devices your readers use.

Start with Blogger’s Blog List widget
Blogger’s help describes a widget as “A widget is a page element such as a page, a blogroll, or anything else you can add from the ‘Page Elements’ tab.” Blogger layouts are built from sections and widgets, making the built-in Blog List the logical first place to check. See Blogger Help on adding a gadget to your blog and the Blogger layout and widget documentation.

- It can be a gift option
- Open your Blogger blog’s layout editor and locate the Blog List or blogroll widget. The exact labels and controls may differ by account or theme.
- Open that widget’s available settings and inspect the display choices. In particular, check whether a thumbnail or image option is present and whether it can use images from the linked sites’ feeds.
- Save any changes, then view the actual blog page. Check whether the result is a text list, a list with thumbnails, or a more card-like layout in your theme.
A 2008 Blogger Developers announcement reported that Blog Lists could show the most recent thumbnail from Blogger and other Media RSS-enabled feeds. That is a reason to inspect your widget, not proof that the option remains available or works identically in today’s dashboard. The current documentation does not confirm a universal card switch.
Choose between the built-in widget and theme styling
| Consideration | Built-in Blog List | Theme-level styling |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Usually the simpler starting point: configure the widget’s options if they are available. | Requires editing or adapting the theme and checking that its layout remains sound. |
| Control over image, title, and description | Limited to the controls and content the widget and linked site’s feed make available. | Potentially more control, depending on the theme structure and the data you can reliably supply. |
| Image availability | May depend on an image or feed thumbnail exposed by the linked site. | Still depends on having an image and content to display; styling cannot conjure missing source material. |
| Theme and mobile fit | Rendered according to the current theme. | Must be adapted and tested against the theme, including at narrow/mobile widths. |
| Ongoing maintenance | Less custom code to maintain, though rendering can vary by theme. | Theme or Blogger changes may require revisiting the customization. |
These are practical trade-offs based on Blogger’s widget-and-theme model, not measured performance results. If the built-in widget gives you a readable list with suitable thumbnails, there may be no need to customize the theme.
If you need a more card-like layout
Theme-level customization is an advanced option when the widget’s available settings do not produce the layout you want. Blogger’s theme and layout documentation explains the section-and-widget structure, but the documentation reviewed does not provide a universal, tested snippet that converts every Blog List into cards. Back up your theme before editing and adapt any markup or CSS to the actual widget and theme you use; a snippet copied without that context can break or fail to affect the right elements.

For each link, aim for a useful site name and short description. If you include an image, give it descriptive alternative text so the image’s purpose is available to readers who cannot see it. Blogger’s image guidance covers image descriptions. Preview the saved layout on a desktop-sized screen and a narrow/mobile viewport; make sure text remains readable and links are easy to select.
Do not assume every linked site supplies a usable image or feed thumbnail. Different themes can also render the same widget differently, so inspect the live result rather than treating a particular appearance as guaranteed.
If you meant a card when sharing your Blogger URL
If you want an image, title, and description to appear when someone shares one of your Blogger pages elsewhere, that is a separate social-sharing task. Blogger documents share buttons and feed settings, but those features do not establish that social metadata creates cards inside a blogroll. A Blogger Help Community discussion about a “preview when sharing” addresses external-sharing metadata and caching, not on-site Blog List cards; treat it as community guidance rather than an official Blogger requirement: Blogger Help Community discussion.

Likewise, a custom domain is not established as necessary for blogroll thumbnails or cards. Blogger documents custom domains separately; changing your domain is not a prerequisite for this task.

Replace the example URL with your blog URL and use your API key. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides screenshot tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.
