Create a separate YouTube live stream for cartoons and another for bedtime stories, then send the right video and audio to each stream from an encoder. Each needs its own stream setup and watch page. Before you start, decide whether each program is Made for Kids, clear the rights to every recording and asset, and plan how to handle streams longer than 12 hours: YouTube may not archive them, and DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable.
What you need for two separate streams
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- An encoder: software on a computer or, for a higher-production setup, a dedicated hardware encoder. YouTube supports both; hardware is an option, not a requirement.
- Two distinct stream configurations and watch pages—one for cartoons and one for bedtime stories.
- Videos and other assets you have the rights to use in live and archived broadcasts, including music.
- A plan for monitoring, recovery, and recording if a stream or its archive matters to you.

Set up the cartoon and bedtime-story streams
- Check channel eligibility. Confirm the channel is verified and has not had a live-stream restriction in the prior 90 days. If live streaming is unavailable, resolve the channel’s eligibility issue before configuring an encoder.
- Create the cartoon stream. In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go live to open Live Control Room, then create a stream. Give it a specific title, description, and thumbnail, and set its audience based on the actual content and intended audience.
- Create a separate bedtime-story stream. Repeat the process with its own title, description, thumbnail, audience setting, and watch page. Keeping the feeds separate helps viewers find the program they want and prevents the wrong material appearing on a stream.
- Configure the encoder for both outputs. In each stream’s settings, copy the YouTube Live server URL and that stream’s key into the encoder. Route the cartoon program to the cartoon configuration and the story program to the bedtime-story configuration. If both must run simultaneously, your encoder system must be able to send the intended program to each stream at the same time. One stream key does not create two editorially separate watch pages. YouTube explains stream URL and key settings in Manage live stream settings.
- Preview before going live. Start the encoder ahead of the planned broadcast, check each preview in Live Control Room, and verify picture and sound on the correct watch page. YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend preparing encoders in advance, monitoring the stream, and testing backup-encoder failover where available.
- Monitor the actual broadcasts. Check stream status, audio, video, and the public watch pages. A 24/7 schedule is an operating goal, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service; arrange a way to detect a stopped feed and recover it.
Decide whether each stream is Made for Kids
YouTube requires creators to identify whether each video or live stream is Made for Kids. Judge each program by its content and intended audience—not merely by whether it is animated, family-friendly, or safe for general audiences. YouTube lists child-directed factors such as intended or actual audience, child-oriented language and activities, songs, stories, poems, child actors, and appealing characters or toys, including cartoons. It says stories for children and cartoon characters can weigh toward Made for Kids, but no single factor automatically decides every case. Choose a session length and protect the archive
YouTube says a live stream under 12 hours can be automatically archived. A stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all. That is a possibility, not a guarantee that every longer stream will be lost, so do not rely on the platform archive as your only copy. YouTube’s archive guidance describes the limit.
Very long broadcasts also have a DVR caveat: rewind may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. If replay and rewind matter, consider successive shorter sessions and make a local recording. A local file gives you a separate copy to retain and upload, but it does not itself ensure that YouTube will capture a live archive.

Clear rights before scheduling cartoons or stories
You are responsible for having the rights needed to stream and archive the material, including music. Check the rights for the cartoon or adaptation, story text, illustrations, voice performance, background music, and any other included asset. A video being available online does not establish that you may rebroadcast it, and an old story does not automatically clear a particular translation, illustration, recording, or performance. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions put responsibility for the necessary rights on the content provider.

Rights clearance and monetization eligibility are separate questions. YouTube applies monetization policies to live streams; it identifies repetitive or mass-produced material as “inauthentic content” and may find reused content ineligible when it lacks significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. Original episodes and stories with meaningful creative contribution are a stronger editorial foundation than simply looping someone else’s work, but neither originality nor rights clearance guarantees monetization approval or revenue. Whichever you choose, test both destinations and the material routed to them before relying on an unattended schedule. The encoder must support the number of outputs and programs you intend to send; do not assume every setup can run two simultaneous feeds.

Troubleshoot common problems
- A stream will not start: Check channel verification and live-stream eligibility, then confirm the encoder has the correct YouTube server URL and stream key for that stream.
- The wrong video appears on a watch page: Verify the encoder’s routing and confirm that each program is assigned to its own stream configuration. Separate watch pages require separate stream setups.
- Live Control Room shows no preview: Confirm the encoder is sending to the intended URL and key, then check that the encoder is running and producing an output. Start it ahead of time and verify the preview before going live.
- A broadcast stops or drops: Check the encoder and connection, then use your monitoring and recovery plan to restart or fail over. YouTube’s tips recommend testing backup-encoder failover where available; continuous operation is not guaranteed.
- The live archive is missing or incomplete: If the session exceeded 12 hours, YouTube may not have captured it. Keep a local recording when preservation matters and plan sessions around the archive caveat.
- Viewers cannot rewind: DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. Use shorter sessions if rewind is important.
- Chat or other features are absent: Check the stream’s audience setting and whether it is Made for Kids; child-directed streams have feature restrictions.
- Monetization is unavailable: Check rights to the material and whether the content meets YouTube’s live-stream monetization policies, including its rules on reused and repetitive content. Neither permission to use material nor a live broadcast guarantees monetization.
