How to Create and Join a Guild in Palworld

In Palworld, every solo save already places you in a one-player guild. To create a multiplayer guild, enter the same world as another player, stand beside them, hold the on-screen interact button, and have them accept the invitation. To join a friend, use that same face-to-face interaction in the friend’s world or server; there is no remote guild-invite menu.

What a guild is in Palworld

A guild is Palworld’s shared multiplayer group. It connects players in the same world so they can use guild bases, structures, production facilities, assigned base Pals and guild storage together. The guild is not a separate item that you unlock through a quest. Your solo save starts with you as the only member, and the multiplayer guild becomes relevant when another player accepts an invitation.

The invitation is tied to the world session rather than a distant social menu. Both players must be in the same multiplayer world or server, close enough for the character interaction prompt to appear. You then hold the interact control shown on your screen and the other player confirms the request.

Create a guild by inviting another player

Use these steps when you are the player who already owns the world or is already in the guild:

  1. Start or enter the multiplayer world. Load the co-op session or dedicated server in which you want the guild to exist. The player you are adding must also be connected to this same world.
  2. Meet the other player in the game world. Walk toward their character. Keep moving closer until the player interaction or guild prompt appears. Opening a map, inventory or a distant social list will not substitute for this proximity interaction.
  3. Hold the displayed interact button. The exact control depends on your platform and key bindings, so follow the button label shown by Palworld rather than relying on a keyboard or controller shortcut from another platform.
  4. Have the other player accept. The invited player must confirm the on-screen guild prompt. The invitation is not complete until that confirmation is made.
  5. Check guild management. Open the guild-management screen after the acceptance and verify that the new member appears. Review the member’s rank and available permissions before giving access to valuable storage or important base functions.

There is no separate solo-guild unlock requirement. A new member is what turns the one-person guild into a cooperative group, subject to the world’s member and base limits.

Join a friend’s guild

If your friend already has the guild, you join from inside the same world rather than from the title screen:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Enter the correct world or server. Join the guild member’s co-op world or dedicated server. Being friends on a platform or having the server address is not enough if you are not currently in the same Palworld world.
  2. Travel to the guild member. Move your character close to the player who will send or receive the guild request. Wait for the player interaction prompt to appear.
  3. Use the proximity interaction. Hold the displayed interact control to send or receive the guild request. Both players should watch the prompt, because the interaction can be missed if one player moves away.
  4. Accept the confirmation. Confirm the on-screen invitation when it appears. Until you accept, you remain outside the guild and will not have its shared-base access.
  5. Verify access before transferring items. Check that the guild base, storage and permissions are visible to you. Test with an ordinary material first; do not move rare resources or assign an important Pal until you know your rank and access are correct.

What guild members share—and what stays personal

Guild membership separates world assets from character-bound assets. The following table shows the practical boundary:

Asset or progress Guild behavior Practical consequence
Bases and structures placed in guild bases Communal Members can use the shared construction and facilities, subject to their permissions.
Pals assigned to base work Communal A worker Pal at a guild base contributes to the group’s production and should be assigned only with the owner’s agreement.
Guild storage Communal Members can access shared containers, so agree on sorting and rules before storing rare items.
Player inventory Character-bound Items in your personal inventory do not automatically become guild property when you join.
Party Pals Character-bound Your active party remains yours; joining a guild does not transfer those Pals to another player.

This arrangement is useful for coordinated building and production, but it also creates an ownership risk: anything placed in a communal base or guild container can be accessible to other members. Set expectations about permissions, valuable workers and rare materials before combining supplies.

Guild and base limits

Palworld’s limits depend on the world or server configuration. The current guide reports a default guild size of 20 members and a world-setting maximum of 100 members. Base capacity is a separate limit: the commonly reported default is four base camps per guild, while the official server setting allows a configured maximum of 10.

Why you cannot join a guild

Most failed invitations come from one of five conditions. Work through them in this order.

You are not in the same world

Guild interaction is performed inside the world. Confirm that both players selected the same co-op save or connected to the same dedicated-server instance. A platform friend list, voice-chat room or server community does not create a Palworld guild by itself.

You are too far apart

The interaction prompt appears only at close range. Have both players meet in a safe, open location, face one another and move closer until the prompt is visible. If the prompt disappears, stop moving and try again. The invitation is proximity-based, not a remote menu action.

The wrong player is trying to initiate the action

The established guild member must invite the other player, and the invited player must accept. If the prompt is missing, switch who is standing beside whom and check whether the existing member now sees the guild interaction.

The invitation was not accepted

Holding the interact button only sends or opens the request. The second player still has to confirm the on-screen prompt. Ask the invitee to watch the center or edge of the screen for the confirmation and to accept before walking away.

The joining player already owns a Palbox or base

A player who already has a Palbox and personal base can run into a capacity conflict when joining another guild. If the destination guild has no base capacity left, the join may fail or require the player to dismantle or relocate the existing base first. Move valuable items and Pals safely before dismantling anything, and confirm which base the host intends to keep.

The guild or world has reached its member limit

Check the current member count against the world’s configured limit. The commonly reported default is 20, but a host may use another value, with 100 reported as the world-setting maximum. A full guild will reject another invitation even when the proximity interaction works correctly.

The guild has reached its base limit

Member capacity and base capacity are different. A guild can have room for another player while having no available base slot. Check the host’s number of guild bases and the active BaseCampMaxNumInGuild value. The official server documentation identifies four as the default and 10 as the maximum for this setting.

Cross-platform access is disabled

On a dedicated server, cross-platform participation depends on the server’s CrossplayPlatforms setting. If players on different platforms cannot enter the same server, they cannot complete the in-world guild interaction. The host should review the active server configuration and ensure the intended platforms are allowed.

The server has not applied a configuration change

Dedicated-server settings are read when the server starts. After changing a value, stop and restart the server, then reconnect both players and retry the invitation. If the old behavior remains, verify that the file edited is the active settings file rather than a default template.

Changing guild capacity on a dedicated server

The official server documentation identifies the settings file for Windows Steam and SteamCMD installations as:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Pal/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/PalWorldSettings.ini

Linux dedicated servers use the corresponding Linux configuration path documented for that installation. The important distinction is to edit the active PalWorldSettings.ini, not the default template supplied with the server files. A template may be copied when a server is first created, but later edits to that template do not necessarily change the running world.

  1. Stop the dedicated server. Do not edit a live file while the server is writing settings or saving the world.
  2. Open the active settings file. On Windows Steam or SteamCMD installations, use Pal/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/PalWorldSettings.ini. Locate the equivalent active file on Linux according to the server’s documented installation path.
  3. Set the guild base limit. Find BaseCampMaxNumInGuild and choose a value from the supported range. The official documentation labels the setting “Maximum number of bases per guild. Default: 4 (max 10).”
  4. Review crossplay settings. If players use different platforms, check CrossplayPlatforms and select the platforms the server should permit.
  5. Save, restart and test. Start the server, reconnect, and verify the setting in the actual world before inviting the whole group. A test with one additional player can reveal a path or permission mistake early.

Changing a capacity setting does not automatically move an existing base or merge separate guilds. It only changes what the server permits. Players still need to complete the normal face-to-face invitation and acceptance steps.

Co-op session or dedicated server?

Choose the hosting model based on when your group needs to play and how much control the host wants.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Decision point Co-op session Dedicated server
Persistence The world is tied to the host’s session availability. The world can remain available when the usual host is offline, provided the server is running.
Player capacity Uses the session’s configured maximum. Uses the dedicated server’s configured maximum.
Guild base capacity Uses the world’s active base setting. Can be controlled with BaseCampMaxNumInGuild, within the documented range.
Cross-platform access Depends on the co-op setup and supported platform combination. Can be controlled through the server’s CrossplayPlatforms setting.
Administration Simple to start, with fewer files to manage. Requires server files, an active settings file and restarts after configuration changes.

For a small group that plays when one person is available, co-op is usually the simpler path: meet in the host’s world and invite players directly. For a group that needs a persistent world, a dedicated server provides the relevant capacity and crossplay controls, but the host must maintain the server configuration.

A safe first-session checklist

  • Confirm every player is connected to the same world or dedicated server.
  • Decide which existing base, if any, the joining player will keep before attempting the guild change.
  • Check the guild member count and available base slots.
  • Meet in a safe location where the interaction prompt is easy to see.
  • Use the interact control shown by the game, not a platform-specific shortcut remembered from another setup.
  • Have the invitee accept the prompt immediately.
  • Open guild management and verify the new member’s rank and permissions.
  • Test access with a common material before moving rare items or assigning a valuable Pal.
  • Agree on storage, construction and base-worker rules while the group is still small.

Common scenarios

Two friends starting a new co-op world

The host starts the world, both players connect, and they meet at the same location. The host holds the displayed interaction control, the second player accepts, and both verify the member list. Because there is no pre-existing personal base to reconcile, this is the least complicated guild setup.

A player with an established solo base joining a friend

The player first checks whether their Palbox and base can coexist with the destination guild’s available base slots. If the guild is at its base limit, the player may need to relocate or dismantle the existing base before joining. Secure valuable contents and agree on the surviving base before taking that step.

A group moving to a persistent server

The administrator checks member capacity, sets the desired BaseCampMaxNumInGuild value, reviews CrossplayPlatforms, edits the active settings file, restarts the server and then has players connect. Guild invitations still happen in person inside the world; server configuration does not replace the proximity interaction.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Key points to remember

  • Your solo save already has a one-person guild.
  • Creating or joining a multiplayer guild requires both players to be in the same world and close enough for the interaction prompt.
  • The invitation is completed only after the other player accepts the on-screen confirmation.
  • Bases, base structures, assigned base Pals and guild storage are shared; inventories and party Pals remain character-bound.
  • Member and base limits are separate, and the active world or server settings control both.
  • On dedicated servers, edit the active settings file and verify BaseCampMaxNumInGuild and CrossplayPlatforms before troubleshooting invitations.
