You can create a station-like listening mix in the YouTube Music mobile app, then use a collaborative playlist to collect song requests from other listeners. These are two separate features: the Mix shapes your listening queue, while the playlist lets invited collaborators add songs. YouTube Music’s documented tools do not provide a dedicated live radio request queue.
Create a station-like Mix in YouTube Music
A custom Mix is the built-in option for an artist-seeded listening experience. Create it in the mobile app:

- Open YouTube Music and tap Library.
- Choose New, then Mix.
- Select artists whose music should guide the mix.
- Adjust artist variety and how much music discovery to include. Add optional filters such as BPM, popularity, or mood if they suit the station you want.
- Tap Done to start the Mix.
You can adjust the listening queue while music plays: open Up next and choose a category to change it. The exact menus can shift as the app changes. A YouTube Music Community reply dated August 30, 2026 reported the Library > New > Mix route, but community posts may not be verified or current; use the official YouTube Music help for custom mixes for the durable workflow.

Start with artists, songs, or genres that match the language and region you want, then use those artists as Mix seeds. YouTube Music’s discovery tools can help you find candidates:

- Import, Soundtrack
- Explore: browse popular releases, genres, playlists, and categories for a country or region.
- Search: search for a language, regional genre, artist, or song, and filter results by category where available. Try spelling or transliteration variants if the first search misses a familiar name.
- Home: when signed in, recommendations can include stations based on mood, activity, and listening history.
These tools are ways to discover suitable music, not a guarantee that every regional track, language variant, or spelling will appear. YouTube Music’s supported locations list includes India.
Collect requests with a collaborative playlist
For a group that wants to suggest songs, use a shareable collaborative playlist. It collects contributions, but it is not a request inbox attached to the Mix or a live-broadcast queue.
- Create a playlist in YouTube Music.
- Make it shareable and invite the people who should be able to contribute.
- Have collaborators add their requested songs to the playlist.
- Choose playlist privacy settings to suit the group, and stop sharing if you no longer want others to access it.
The playlist gives the group a visible place to gather suggestions. The documented controls do not promise moderation tools, automatic rotation, or that songs will play in the order requested. On Android, YouTube Music also documents saving an upcoming station song to a playlist. See YouTube Music’s playlist and station help for the available controls.

Choose the right setup for your audience
| Setup | Song selection | Participation | Order and privacy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Custom Mix | Artist-seeded, with adjustable discovery and other Mix controls | Personal listening flow | Queue is shaped by the Mix; privacy depends on your account and app settings |
| Collaborative playlist | Contributors add songs to a shared list | Invited collaborators can contribute | A playlist provides a list of songs; sharing and privacy settings determine who can access it |
Use the Mix when you want a station-like stream of listening shaped by selected artists. Use the playlist when community members need a shared place to add suggestions. You can use both, but do not treat playlist contributions as guaranteed requests in a live queue.

Ask Music and availability in India
Ask Music can create custom mixes from natural-language prompts, but YouTube’s published availability information describes access for YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium members on mobile, and its listed countries do not include India. For an India-focused setup, use the artist-seeded Mix workflow rather than relying on Ask Music. Check YouTube’s Ask Music availability information if you are considering it, since feature eligibility can change.

If by “radio station” you mean a continuous YouTube live stream playing uploaded recordings, that is different from a YouTube Music Mix or collaborative playlist. StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded video, not a live camera feed.
