You can livestream a playlist of your uploaded videos by sending the videos through an encoder to YouTube Live Control Room. YouTube’s documented setup does not offer a control to select an existing YouTube playlist as a live-stream source, so you may need to assemble the source media in an encoder or use a service built for continuous prerecorded streams. Before starting, confirm livestream access and that you have the rights to every track and video.
Can I use my YouTube playlist as a livestream?
Not through a documented YouTube Studio playlist-to-live-stream feature. YouTube’s published setup uses Live Control Room and an encoder: the encoder sends video and audio to YouTube using the stream URL and stream key. The setup guidance does not explain how to select an existing uploaded-video playlist as the encoder’s source.

That distinction matters: a playlist organizes videos for viewers, but it does not by itself make those videos available as input to a live encoder or grant permission to rebroadcast them. If you want to loop music videos, prepare source files or verify that a streaming service explicitly supports your intended input—local files, uploaded files, or existing YouTube URLs or playlists—before relying on it.

Check channel access and music rights first
Make sure livestreaming is enabled
YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had a livestream restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before you plan to broadcast. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance and livestreaming tips.

Clear every track and video for live use
Being the uploader, owning a playlist, or finding a video publicly available on YouTube does not establish the right to rebroadcast it. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you to stop; if the material remains, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. Even if you have a license, YouTube says you may need to ask the rights owner to add your channel to the Content ID allowlist. Review YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and secure the necessary rights before going live.
YouTube Partner Program creators can monetize a live stream, but music rights and monetization eligibility are separate questions. A playlist does not guarantee that its tracks are cleared for your channel or that the stream will earn revenue.

How to set up a livestream from prerecorded videos
- Prepare the source media. Gather the video files you are authorized to stream and decide the order and whether the sequence should repeat. If you only have the videos on YouTube, check whether your chosen encoder or service accepts those URLs or playlists; do not assume it can import them.
- Open YouTube Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live, then create or schedule a stream. YouTube’s setup walkthrough is at support.google.com/youtube/answer/2474026.
- Connect an encoder. Choose YouTube in the encoder if that option is available. Otherwise, copy the stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room into the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: do not share or publish it, and reset it if it is exposed.
- Set the output and start a test. Choose a resolution and frame rate your connection can sustain, then set the encoder’s bitrate accordingly. For H.264 at 1080p and 30 fps, YouTube’s current guidance gives 5 Mbps as the minimum and 14 Mbps as the recommended bitrate. Lower resolutions have lower suggested rates; consult YouTube’s encoder settings recommendations for the output you intend to use. YouTube recommends RTMPS for ingestion.
- Check the preview and stream health. Start the encoder and wait for the Live Control Room preview. Confirm that both picture and audio are correct, that the intended source is playing, and that stream health is acceptable before making the stream public or starting the event.
- Schedule and promote if needed. In Live Control Room, open Manage and select Schedule Stream. Viewers may receive reminders for a scheduled stream. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived.
Can I loop my music videos on YouTube Live?
Yes, if your encoder or streaming service can repeat the source material and you have permission to stream it. YouTube’s encoder directory describes Gyre as “A cloud-based tool for 24/7 live streaming of pre-recorded videos on YouTube.” That description supports it as a candidate for continuous prerecorded streams, but does not establish that it can import an existing YouTube playlist. Check its current input options, scheduling and reconnect behavior, cost, and YouTube compatibility before choosing it. See YouTube’s encoder directory.

For a local encoder, confirm that it can loop a file or playlist of files, maintain the connection for your intended duration, and reconnect if the ingest connection drops. Do not assume that an encoder can use videos already uploaded to YouTube as its source.

Troubleshooting common problems
- Live Control Room will not let you start: check channel verification, livestream activation, and whether a restriction in the past 90 days affects eligibility. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- No preview appears: confirm the encoder is using the correct stream URL and key, is actively sending, and is set to YouTube-compatible output. Check the encoder’s connection status and Live Control Room stream health.
- Video stalls or stream health is poor: lower the bitrate or output quality to fit the upload connection, then test again. For H.264 1080p/30 fps, YouTube’s guidance is 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended; the higher figure is not a requirement if your connection cannot sustain it.
- Audio or video is missing: inspect the source file and encoder audio/video selections, then verify both in the Live Control Room preview before going live.
- Stream is interrupted after a copyright match: stop using the detected material unless you have the necessary rights and have followed YouTube’s requirements. For licensed content, ask the rights owner about adding your channel to the Content ID allowlist; a license alone may not prevent an interruption.
- Your service cannot find the playlist: verify whether it accepts local files, uploaded media, YouTube URLs, or an existing YouTube playlist. The YouTube setup documentation does not establish direct playlist import, so use an input the service explicitly supports.
