To rotate music genres by day, create a separate scheduled YouTube Live event for each day or genre edition in YouTube Studio. You can reuse settings from an earlier event, but YouTube’s documented scheduling workflow does not provide an automatic weekday-to-genre rotation. Plan the rotation yourself, then schedule each event and promote its watch page.
Plan the weekly genre rotation
Choose a pattern that fits your channel—for example, one genre for each weekday, or a smaller set of genres repeated across the week. YouTube does not prescribe a cadence, and there is no established best genre schedule. Make the day, genre, and start time easy to understand at a glance.

For each edition, decide what recording or playlist you will use, who owns the rights to the music, and whether the event will be produced with an encoder. YouTube supports software and hardware encoders; an encoder can be useful for external audio or video hardware and more advanced production, but buying one is not a requirement for scheduling.

- Open YouTube Studio. Select Create > Go Live, then open Manage in the Live Control Room.
- Start a scheduled event. Select Schedule Stream. Choose Create new for a fresh event, or Reuse settings to carry over settings from a previous stream. Reusing settings does not create an automatic rotation; review the copied details before saving.
- Set the event details. Enter the date and start time, then give the event a title and description that clearly identify its genre and day. For example: Jazz Tuesdays | Live session. This is an editorial format, not a YouTube requirement.
- Repeat for each edition. Create a separate scheduled event for every day or genre in your pattern. Double-check the date, time, title, description, selected stream, and audio source for each one.
- Share each watch page. Promote the scheduled event’s URL through your channel’s usual surfaces. Scheduled events can appear as upcoming, and viewers can select Notify me to get a reminder when the stream starts.
Make each event easy to recognize
- Use a consistent title pattern, with the genre and day near the beginning. Keep the title accurate if the music or format changes.
- Use the description for useful edition-specific information, such as the planned start time, playlist or recording details, and relevant rights or artist information.
- Add tags only when they help describe the video, especially for commonly misspelled terms. YouTube says tags play a minimal role in discovery in other cases.
- Keep a simple weekly checklist or calendar showing each event’s title, date, time, genre, and watch-page link. This helps prevent mismatched titles or promotion for the wrong edition.
Clear music rights before scheduling the broadcast
Do not assume that music being available online, purchased, or licensed for another use is cleared for a live broadcast. YouTube says it scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can cause a placeholder to replace the stream and a warning to stop using the content; continued use can lead to a temporary interruption or termination. A stream may also end following a copyright or Community Guidelines strike.

If you have a music license, ask the rights holder whether it covers live streaming on YouTube and the territories where you plan to broadcast. Check that the relevant rights for both the composition and recording are covered, and ask whether an archived replay is included. YouTube notes that a rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; without that, a stream can still be interrupted even when the music is licensed or geographically restricted. These are practical checks, not legal advice: license terms differ, so confirm the scope with the licensor.
YouTube’s livestream terms require creators to have the necessary rights to exploit live content on Google services, including applicable music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. Review the current Livestream terms and conditions and YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams before broadcasting.

Check eligibility and prepare the encoder
YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance says a channel must be verified, have had no live-stream restriction in the past 90 days, and be operated by a creator aged at least 16. Requirements can change, so confirm the current rules for your channel before building a recurring schedule.

If you are using an encoder, YouTube recommends setting it up at least two hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start. For every edition:

- Confirm that the encoder is sending to the correct scheduled event and that the audio source is the intended one.
- Check that the event is accessible and inspect the Live Control Room preview before the start.
- Monitor audio and video quality as the event begins and while it is live.
- Use the same checks after reusing settings; an earlier event’s configuration may not be right for the new edition.

Troubleshoot common scheduling problems
- The schedule shows the wrong genre or day: You may have reused settings without replacing the old title or description. Edit the event details and verify the watch page before sharing it.
- Viewers cannot find the upcoming event: Share the event’s watch-page URL directly and check that you are promoting the correct scheduled edition. Viewers can use Notify me on an upcoming event.
- The encoder preview is missing or the wrong stream is selected: Start the encoder early, confirm it is connected to the intended scheduled event, and check the Live Control Room preview before the start time.
- The stream is interrupted after music begins: A Content ID match or other rights issue may be responsible. Stop using the disputed content, review YouTube’s notice, and confirm licensing and any required Content ID allowlisting with the rights holder before trying again.
- A recurring edition starts with the wrong audio: Check the selected recording, playlist, and encoder input as part of that edition’s preflight rather than relying on the previous event’s setup.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your plan is to keep uploaded music playing continuously on YouTube rather than produce a live session from a camera, StreamNeo is a cloud option. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. It is not a camera-live service and streams to YouTube only.
