You can loop a prepared home-listing presentation on YouTube Live by sending it through an encoder to a stream created in YouTube Studio. The essentials are a live-enabled, eligible channel; media you have permission to use; an encoder configured with YouTube’s stream URL and key; and a tested connection. For a reliable presentation, schedule shorter sessions, monitor the broadcast, and keep a local copy: YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be archived.
Choose how to run the loop
YouTube supports both encoder software running on a computer and standalone hardware encoders. In either case, the encoder sends your prepared media to YouTube; a webcam is not required for a prerecorded listing presentation. YouTube does not endorse one encoder category as best for every agency. Choose based on your equipment, staff workflow, and ability to monitor the stream.

Neither option removes the need for a reliable upload connection or someone accountable for the live presentation. YouTube also identifies cloud-based services as an option for 24/7 prerecorded streams; if evaluating one, verify its current workflow and whether it supports your listing updates rather than assuming it integrates with an MLS feed. YouTube’s encoder guidance lists Gyre as an example of a cloud-based service.

Build the property sequence as a presentation file or playlist supported by your chosen encoder workflow. Arrange it so viewers can understand what each home is, and review any on-screen contact details or calls to action for accuracy. YouTube does not establish a direct MLS-to-live-feed integration in its encoder guidance, so do not assume listings will rotate automatically from an MLS.

Before streaming, confirm that the agency has permission for the intended public live broadcast and any archive for every asset used: property photos and video, floor plans, logos, music, and voice tracks. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions say that the provider represents it has the necessary rights for the Live Content and will comply with applicable laws and regulations. The terms also state: “The Live Content must comply with the YouTube Community Guidelines.”
Real-estate advertising, MLS display, brokerage licensing, owner consent, privacy, and fair-housing disclosures can depend on location and the agency’s agreements. Review the presentation against the rules that apply to your business with a locally qualified compliance professional; YouTube’s general streaming guidance does not settle those requirements.

Enable live streaming before production day
Use a verified YouTube channel that meets the platform’s eligibility conditions. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says the channel must have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. First-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned broadcast and confirm the channel can go live.

- In YouTube Studio, open Create and choose Go live to enter Live Control Room.
- Create a new stream or schedule one for the intended time. Scheduling creates a watch page that you can promote in advance.
- Set a clear, accurate title, description, category, and privacy setting. Review the details before reusing an event; remove sold or withdrawn properties and update stale information.
- In the stream settings, copy the stream URL and stream key for the encoder. The URL is the destination for the feed; the key authenticates the encoder.
For current screen details, see YouTube’s encoder setup guide and live stream settings guide. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to the stream. Do not include it in screenshots or public or broadly shared production documents.

Configure the encoder for stable video
- In the encoder, select YouTube or a custom streaming destination, then enter the stream URL and key from Live Control Room. Use RTMPS where supported for secure ingest.
- Load the prepared listing media and set a supported output resolution and bitrate using YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions. Match the bitrate to measured upload capacity; a higher resolution is not helpful if the connection cannot sustain it.
- Use H.264 video encoding and constant bitrate (CBR). YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds.
- Confirm the encoder is configured to play the full sequence as intended. Check that audio is present only where wanted, images and text are legible at the output resolution, and transitions do not expose outdated or unintended material.
There is no single bitrate that is reliable for every agency: the appropriate value depends on the selected resolution and the available upload connection. Consult YouTube’s current settings table and test from the actual production connection instead of choosing the maximum setting by default.
Test, preview, and start the broadcast
- Set up at least two hours before the event and start the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled broadcast, following YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
- Test with audio and movement representative of the real presentation. In Live Control Room, wait for the preview, review stream health, and check picture and sound before going live.
- Open the scheduled watch page from the channel and test it on a mobile device. Confirm viewers can access it with the intended privacy setting, and check that listing labels and calls to action remain readable.
- Start the stream deliberately from the encoder or Live Control Room according to your configured start controls. Keep a staff member available to monitor the actual broadcast.
Operate the stream and protect the account
Choose privacy, DVR, latency, auto-start, and auto-stop settings deliberately in Live Control Room. Public streams are visible to anyone; private and unlisted settings have different access behavior, so check the current YouTube controls and share access accordingly. If the key is exposed, reset it in the stream settings and update the encoder before broadcasting again.

During the presentation, assign someone to watch stream health, verify that the correct sequence is playing, replace sold or withdrawn listings promptly, and respond to viewer questions when appropriate. End the broadcast intentionally when the session is over rather than leaving an outdated listing stream running.
Plan sessions and archive copies
YouTube’s archive guidance says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. That makes one uninterrupted 24/7 stream a poor choice when a durable replay matters. Use controlled, shorter scheduled sessions and preserve the source presentation or a local recording if you need a dependable record. Verify the archive after each session instead of assuming it was saved.
