To rebroadcast recorded conference sponsor presentations as a repeating YouTube Live stream, create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, load the videos into OBS Studio as looping media sources or a playlist, and send OBS’s feed to YouTube using the stream URL and key. YouTube’s player loop setting does not create a live broadcast. Before going live, clear the rights for each talk, its slides, music, and embedded third-party content.
Before you build the loop
Prepare the recordings
Choose the presentations and their order, then review the full files, including transitions and endings. Preserve speaker names, sponsor titles, and any event context viewers need. A short slate between talks can make the sequence easier to follow, but it is an editorial choice, not a YouTube requirement.

Confirm rebroadcast permissions
Get permission to rebroadcast each recorded talk and its slides, music, and other embedded material. Keep a record of the permissions and any limitations, such as permitted dates or territories. A license does not necessarily prevent a live interruption: YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, and a rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist for licensed material to pass without interruption. YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams explains the platform’s response to detected content.

YouTube’s live-streaming tips say a channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Check eligibility before announcing the broadcast. YouTube’s live-streaming tips also recommend preparing the encoder at least two hours ahead and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event.

Create or schedule the YouTube Live broadcast

In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live, then create or schedule a stream using an encoder. Set the title, description, visibility, and other details. YouTube supports public, private, and unlisted streams; choose the visibility that fits the intended audience.

In Live Control Room, find the stream URL and stream key for the broadcast. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Treat the key as a credential: share it only with staff who need it, and do not put it in screenshots, public documents, or chat. You can create or reset keys in Live Control Room. See Manage live stream settings and YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
Build the repeating presentation sequence in OBS
OBS has two relevant source options. A Media Source is suited to looping one file; VLC Video can play a playlist in a chosen order. The choice depends on whether you have one file or several, whether order matters, and whether VLC is installed. The documented controls do not establish a performance advantage for either approach.

These controls repeat a file or playlist; the OBS documentation does not promise seamless transitions between presentations. Check how one item ends and the next begins in an actual test. Consult the OBS Media Sources guide if the labels differ in your installed version.
Option A: Loop one video with Media Source

In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene that will feed the broadcast and select the presentation file.

Enable Loop in that source’s properties, then confirm the selected file plays and repeats as intended.
Option B: Loop several videos with VLC Video

Install VLC if it is not already installed, then add a VLC Video source in OBS.

Add the presentation files to the playlist in the intended order and enable Loop Playlist.

Play through the sequence, including item endings and transitions, to confirm the order and repeat behavior.
Connect OBS to YouTube and choose stream settings

In OBS’s service or stream settings, enter the stream URL and key copied from Live Control Room. Use RTMPS where your encoder supports it; YouTube describes RTMPS as encrypted RTMP.

Set the encoder’s resolution, frame rate, and bitrate to match the presentation files and the available upload capacity. YouTube publishes current codec, bitrate, and keyframe recommendations in its encoder settings guide. Follow the recommendations for the chosen resolution and frame rate, and test the actual configuration; do not assume that a higher bitrate is better if the connection cannot sustain it.

Start OBS’s stream output and check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before making the broadcast public or directing viewers to it. Confirm both picture and audio, and check playback on a phone as well as on the computer used to configure the stream.
Test, start, and end the broadcast deliberately
Run a test stream before the event or public promotion so you can verify the playlist, sound, video, and YouTube ingest without relying on the live broadcast as the first playback check. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours in advance and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event.

When the preview and health indicators are satisfactory, click Go Live in Live Control Room if the setup requires that separate action.

Monitor the watch page and the repeating OBS source during the broadcast. Check that the source continues through the end of the playlist and starts again in the intended order.

When the loop is finished, stop the encoder and end the stream in Live Control Room. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; its guidance does not establish that a longer stream will receive a full archive.
Optional: Send viewers to another live event
If you want to hand viewers off when the loop ends, YouTube Live Redirect can send them to another live event or a Premiere. YouTube’s eligibility requirements for the sending creator include more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes. A destination on another channel may need to grant permission. The source stops after one presentation. For a single file, check that Media Source’s Loop option is enabled. For a playlist, use VLC Video and enable Loop Playlist.

A VLC playlist does not load. Confirm VLC is installed, then check the source’s playlist entries and file paths.

YouTube does not show a preview. Verify that OBS is using the stream URL and key for the intended Live Control Room broadcast, then confirm that OBS is sending its stream output and that the key has not been reset.

The stream is unstable or the picture quality suffers. Compare the configured bitrate with the upload capacity available to the encoder, and check that resolution and frame rate match the selected YouTube encoding recommendations. Test again before the scheduled start.

The broadcast is replaced by a placeholder or interrupted. YouTube may have detected third-party content. Review the affected material and permissions; for licensed content, ask the rights owner whether your channel can be added to its Content ID allowlist.

The loop is not seamless. OBS’s documented loop options do not guarantee gap-free transitions. Review the file endings and playlist transitions, and adjust the edit or insert a slate if needed.
