The simplest reliable workflow is to make one short, portrait-oriented greeting on your phone, then upload it separately through WhatsApp Status, Instagram’s current Reel or Story composer, and Facebook Reels. Use one clear Navratri wish, a few personal photos or clips, large readable text, and music only if you have permission to use it. Preview the result in each app because audience controls, cropping, quality, and current limits are not identical.
Plan the greeting before you edit
A short video is easier to finish when it has one purpose: wish viewers a happy Navratri and identify who is sending the greeting. Aim for a compact edit of roughly 15 to 30 seconds as an editorial choice, not as a platform rule. A shorter file is faster to upload, easier to watch on a phone, and less likely to bury the greeting under too many transitions.

Choose one message
Write the exact words before opening an editor. For example: “May Navratri bring joy, peace and blessings to your family. Happy Navratri — from the Sharma family.” You can replace “joy, peace and blessings” with prosperity, health or another sentiment that fits your relationship with the recipient. Keep the on-screen line brief and put a longer personal note in the caption if needed.
Collect personal visuals
Pick three to six vertical photos or very short clips that you are allowed to share. Useful subjects include your family, a home puja, a decorated entrance, a local pandal, or friends at garba. Ask permission before including other people, particularly children. If you have only landscape images, crop them in the editor and check that faces, idols and text are not cut off.

Use a simple visual sequence
- Opening (about two seconds): show a festive image and the words “Happy Navratri” or “Shubh Navratri.”
- Middle: show your personal photos or clips in a calm order, with one short blessing line.
- Closing: display the sign-off and, if useful, the year or your family name.
Large, high-contrast lettering works better than decorative script on a small screen. Leave clear space around the edges because each platform may crop or overlay controls. Use one or two fonts, modest transitions and a steady pace instead of filling every second with effects.
Check the date for your audience
A guide published October 6, 2026 lists Sharad Navratri as beginning on Sunday, October 11, and Dussehra as Tuesday, October 20. It also notes that observance can differ by a day between regions. If your greeting names a tithi or a festival day, verify it with a local panchang for the recipient’s location rather than treating those dates as universal. If you are sending a timeless greeting, omit the date entirely.
Make the video on your phone
Record or select the source material
- Clean the camera lens and record in good, even light. Hold the phone vertically so the main subject fills a portrait frame.
- Keep each original clip short and hold the phone still. A small phone tripod can make recording easier, but it is optional; WhatsApp also lets you record directly while creating a Status.
- Open your phone’s gallery editor or a video-editing app, create a new project, and import the selected photos and clips.
- Arrange the strongest visual first. Trim pauses, accidental camera movement and duplicate shots.
Add text and sound
- Place the greeting over a quiet section of the image. Keep the words on screen long enough to read once without pausing.
- Use a solid shadow, outline or translucent background when the image is busy. Preview the text at the phone’s normal viewing size, not only while zoomed in.
- Add instrumental music or a recorded family message only when you have the right to use it. Keep the music below spoken words and avoid a soundtrack that overwhelms the blessing.
- Export a copy to your gallery and watch it from beginning to end before uploading. Check spelling of names, the final sign-off, audio levels and whether any face or religious image is cropped.
Keep the original project and an exported copy. If one platform rejects the file or applies an unattractive crop, you can adjust the copy without rebuilding the greeting.

Upload it to WhatsApp Status
WhatsApp’s Help Center says Status photos and videos disappear after 24 hours. Its current Status help page supports 3GP and MPEG-4 video files up to 90 seconds, while warning that HD media is not supported for Status and that uploaded quality may be lower than the original. Exact phone steps
- Open WhatsApp and tap Updates.
- Tap Add status, then choose the finished video from your gallery. You can also record a new clip in this screen.
- Use the preview tools to trim with the slider. Add a caption, text, stickers, drawing or music if the greeting still needs an adjustment.
- Tap the Status audience control and choose who can see it. Review the audience before posting, especially if the video includes a home, children or other personal information.
- Tap the share button. Reopen the posted Status to confirm that the text, sound and crop look correct.
WhatsApp-specific decisions
- Length: keep the exported edit at or below the 90-second limit stated by WhatsApp. A 15-to-30-second greeting is usually easier to finish and watch.
- Quality: do not expect an HD Status upload to remain identical to the gallery original. WhatsApp says HD media is not supported for Status and quality may be reduced.
- Format: if the app rejects your file, export an MPEG-4 version from the editor; WhatsApp’s help page also lists 3GP as supported.
- Visibility: Status is temporary, but anyone included in your selected audience can still save or record the screen. Share only material you are comfortable distributing.
- Mentions: WhatsApp describes up to five private mentions for a video Status. Use them only when those people should be notified and are part of the intended audience.
The WhatsApp page describes the feature this way: “You can use WhatsApp Status to share photos and videos that disappear from view after 24 hours.” That expiry is different from a permanent post or a message sent to one chat.
Publish the greeting as a Facebook Reel
Facebook’s Help Center describes Reels as short-form videos up to 90 seconds. The publishing flow lets you trim, add an optional description or hashtags, choose an audience and decide whether other people may remix the Reel. The official steps are at Facebook Help Center: Create a reel on Facebook.

Facebook mobile workflow
- Open the Facebook mobile app and start creating a Reel. Select the exported greeting from your phone or record a new video.
- Trim the beginning and end in the Reel editor. If you need effects, music or a combination of multiple clips, use the mobile app; Facebook’s help instructions associate those tools with the mobile Reel flow.
- Add an optional description. A short line such as “Wishing your family a joyful Navratri” can explain the video without repeating every word on screen. Add hashtags only when they genuinely help people find the post.
- Choose the audience. The choices available depend on your account settings. Facebook says a locked profile cannot choose a public audience, so do not assume that every account can publish publicly.
- Review the remixing control. Disable remixing if you do not want other users to reuse the Reel’s video or audio under Facebook’s remix feature.
- Publish, then open the Reel from your profile to verify the crop, text placement and audience shown on the post.
What may look different from WhatsApp
A Facebook Reel is not a 24-hour Status. It remains on Facebook according to your account and post settings, and its audience is selected during publication. Facebook’s 90-second description is a Reel limit from its Help Center; it does not mean the same file will be displayed identically on WhatsApp or Instagram.
Post it on Instagram without assuming outdated limits
Current official Instagram organic-post duration, dimensions and file-size limits were not established for this guide. Third-party advertising specifications are not reliable substitutes for rules governing an ordinary personal Reel or Story. Use Instagram’s current in-app composer and let the app validate the file.
Current Instagram workflow
- Open Instagram and tap the create button, then choose the current Reel or Story option that matches your audience and the way you want the greeting to appear.
- Select the exported video from your gallery. If Instagram offers a trim screen, remove any unwanted opening or closing frames there.
- Preview the video full-screen. Check that the greeting is not hidden by the interface areas where a username, caption, buttons or other overlays appear.
- Add a caption, relevant location or a small number of appropriate hashtags if they help your intended viewers. Keep private family details out of a public caption.
- Review account visibility and sharing options, then publish. If the app reports that the file is too long, too large or otherwise unsupported, follow the limit it displays and export a shorter or compatible copy from your editor.
Do not promise viewers a precise Instagram duration or resolution based on another platform’s rules. Instagram can change its composer, and a Reel and a Story can offer different editing and audience choices.

Uploading separately is safer than automatically cross-posting. Each app can apply its own crop, compression, music licensing check and audience setting. Watch the published version on each service instead of assuming that the gallery preview predicts the final result.

Design checks
- Use a bright text color against a dark area, or dark text against a light area, and add an outline when the background changes.
- Keep the first frame understandable without sound. Some viewers will watch silently or have autoplay muted.
- Do not place essential words at the extreme top or bottom; platform controls and captions can cover those areas.
- Use transitions sparingly. A clean cut or gentle dissolve keeps attention on the blessing and the people in the photos.
- Listen once with headphones and once from the phone speaker. A voice message should remain clear under the music.
Privacy checks
- Confirm every person shown has agreed to the intended audience and platform.
- Remove visible addresses, school uniforms, vehicle plates, phone numbers and other information that strangers could use.
- Choose WhatsApp Status and Facebook audiences deliberately. A family greeting does not need a public audience by default.
- Remember that a 24-hour Status can still be copied before it expires.
Troubleshoot common failures
The upload is rejected
First check the duration shown by the app. For WhatsApp Status and Facebook Reels, shorten the file to 90 seconds or less. For Instagram, follow the current limit displayed in its composer because an authoritative organic limit is not established here. If the file still fails, export an MPEG-4 copy, reduce unnecessary audio tracks and try again from the phone’s gallery rather than a cloud-only location.

Start with the highest-quality original clips, avoid repeatedly exporting the same file, and keep text large. WhatsApp explicitly warns that Status does not support HD media and that uploaded quality may be lower than the original, so some reduction there is expected. Compare the posted copy, not only the pre-upload file.

Text or faces are cut off
Return to the editor and move essential content toward the center with extra margin. Recheck the preview inside each platform. A crop that looks acceptable in a gallery player can hide a sign-off beneath a Reel or Story control.
The wrong people can see it
Stop before publishing and reopen the audience selector. On WhatsApp, set the Status audience before sharing. On Facebook, review the Reel audience and remember that locked profiles cannot select Public. On Instagram, inspect account visibility and the sharing choices shown by the current composer. Delete and repost only after confirming the corrected audience; changing a caption does not necessarily change who already saw a post.
Music disappears or is muted
Music availability can vary by platform, region and account. Keep a version with a voice message or natural ambient sound, and do not rely on a song that you do not have permission to distribute. If an app removes the track, publish the clean version rather than trying to evade its rights controls.

- The greeting names the occasion and sender clearly.
- All photos, clips, voices and music are yours to share or used with permission.
- Text is legible on a normal phone screen and not hidden near an edge.
- The opening and closing frames contain no accidental pauses or private information.
- WhatsApp is at or below 90 seconds and uses a supported 3GP or MPEG-4 file if necessary.
- Facebook’s Reel audience and remixing choice are correct.
- Instagram’s current Reel or Story composer accepts the file and shows the intended crop.
- You watched the result after publication on each platform.
