Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →You can turn existing YouTube episode videos into a podcast destination by creating a podcast in YouTube Studio or adding podcast features to an existing playlist. That gives listeners an organized place to play your show on demand; it does not create a verified 24/7 live radio stream that continuously rotates episodes.
What “podcast radio station” means on YouTube
YouTube’s podcast format is a playlist: the show is the playlist, and each episode is a video in it. You can make a playlist of existing full-length episode videos easier to find and listen to, including with podcast-specific features where eligible. YouTube does not document this workflow as a way to broadcast those videos continuously as a live stream.
If by “radio station” you mean a convenient destination where listeners can start an episode and let the playlist continue, use the podcast playlist workflow below. If you mean an always-on live broadcast, that is a different setup and is not created by designating a playlist as a podcast.
Before you start
- Have full-length episode videos on the YouTube channel that will own the podcast.
- Use one podcast playlist for one show. It can contain episodes from multiple seasons, but not clips, another show, or videos from other channels.
- Prepare the show’s actual name, a clear description, and a square thumbnail. YouTube recommends a 1280 × 1280 pixel square podcast thumbnail on the podcast details page.
- Use episode videos rather than MP3 files. YouTube’s podcast workflow does not convert an MP3 directly into a podcast episode.
Create a podcast from your existing episode videos
- Open YouTube Studio. Choose Create → New podcast.
- Choose the existing-playlist option. Select the option to set an existing playlist as a podcast, then choose the playlist that contains your show’s episodes. You can also go to Content → Playlists, open the playlist’s options, and select Add podcast features.
- Review the podcast details. Check the title, description, visibility, and square thumbnail. Use the show’s name rather than a generic label such as “Full Episodes” or “New Uploads.”
- Check the episode contents. Keep full-length episodes from this show together, including seasons. Remove clips, unrelated videos, and videos from other channels.
- Set the order for the format. For an episodic show, YouTube’s setup guidance says to put the newest episode first. For a serial show, it says to put the oldest episode first. YouTube’s discovery tips also advise arranging episodes in the order listeners should consume them; choose the order that fits how your audience follows the show.
- Save and review the result. Confirm that the playlist is designated as a podcast and that its videos and order are correct.
YouTube’s step-by-step instructions are in Create a podcast in YouTube Studio; its recommendations for playlist content and episode order are in Podcast discovery tips.

Make a new podcast and add videos already on your channel
If you do not already have a playlist for the show, create a podcast first, then add the published episode videos to it.
- In YouTube Studio, choose Create → New podcast and enter the show details.
- Go to Content → Podcasts and open the podcast you created.
- Select Add videos → Add your existing videos.
- Select the full-length episodes for this show, add them to the podcast playlist, and save.
- Review the playlist’s episode order and details before sharing it with listeners.
YouTube documents this route, including the use of existing videos, in Create a podcast in YouTube Studio.

What podcast features do—and do not—guarantee
Designating a playlist as a podcast can make it eligible for podcast-related presentation and discovery, such as podcast badges, recommendations, search improvements, and possible inclusion in YouTube Music. These outcomes are not guaranteed: YouTube says eligibility depends on its requirements, and a playlist with content the creator does not own may be ineligible. Podcast videos can support audio-only playback.
The podcast designation remains an on-demand playlist, not a live broadcast. YouTube’s official material reviewed here does not describe a native feature that continuously rotates existing episodes as a 24/7 live stream. For a separate RSS-based publishing route, YouTube explains host distribution in Distribute podcasts on YouTube; it is not necessary when the episodes already exist as YouTube videos.

Copyright and policy checks
- Make sure the episodes comply with YouTube copyright policies; content that violates those policies may not qualify for podcast features.
- Confirm that you have the necessary rights to episode audio, music, and other third-party material. Having a license does not by itself guarantee that YouTube’s automated systems will recognize it.
- Podcasts are also subject to YouTube’s Community Guidelines and, if monetized, its monetization policies.
If you choose a live-stream approach instead, YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match can replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. Even licensed material can trigger an interruption unless the rights holder has allowlisted the channel through Content ID as needed. See Copyright issues with live streams.
Check how the podcast is performing
In YouTube Studio, review the podcast’s analytics to understand views, watch time, traffic sources, audience information, and engagement. These measures can help you see whether listeners are finding the show and which episodes draw attention.
