To keep recorded Konkani church services playing live on YouTube, send them through an encoder such as OBS Studio: loop one recording or build a playlist, connect OBS to a YouTube stream key, then start the broadcast. The computer, files, power and internet connection must remain available for the local method. Before announcing the stream, confirm the channel is eligible and clear the rights to every part of each recording.
What “continuous YouTube stream” means
A normal YouTube upload does not turn into a live broadcast by itself. A live encoder sends video to YouTube’s Live Control Room, where the church can preview and start the stream. YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming. YouTube’s encoder guide explains the workflow.

For a basic setup, OBS Studio can play and loop a local service recording. For several services, OBS can use a VLC Video source and loop an ordered playlist. This is a continuous broadcast only while the encoder remains connected and running.

Check channel eligibility, permissions and the broadcast plan
Confirm live access before scheduling
- Verify the YouTube channel and check that it has no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube says first-time live-stream activation may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave setup until the day of the service. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
- Run a private or unlisted test in Live Control Room before sharing a public link.
- Choose public, unlisted or private visibility. You can change visibility in Live Control Room, according to YouTube’s encoder guide.
Clear every recording for online and repeated use
YouTube scans live streams for third-party material, including other broadcasts. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it or terminate it. Licensed material can still be interrupted if the rights holder has not added the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Read YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.

For each service recording, identify who owns the video and audio and confirm that permission covers YouTube streaming, continuous or repeated broadcast, the intended territories and the archived replay. Check hymns, Konkani translations, musical arrangements, accompaniment tracks, photographs and embedded recordings separately where relevant. Permission for in-person worship or for making a local recording does not automatically establish permission for YouTube streaming. Rights depend on the actual repertoire, recording and licenses; ask the relevant rights holders or the church’s licensing adviser.
If a stream is interrupted, check the Studio dashboard for copyright or Community Guidelines restrictions. For licensed third-party material, YouTube instructs creators to ask the rights owner to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist.

Prepare the recordings and monitoring plan
- Check that the audio is clear, the aspect ratio is correct, service information is legible, and there are no unintended gaps at the start or end.
- Decide whether viewers should hear one service repeatedly or a rotation of different recordings, and put playlist items in the intended order.
- Assign someone to monitor Live Control Room and respond if the encoder stops. A local stream depends on the computer, video files, power and internet staying available.
- Plan broadcast segments with YouTube archiving in mind: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a stream left running indefinitely will be saved as one complete archive; check the resulting archive and its visibility in Studio. YouTube’s encoder guide describes the archiving limit.
Set up a looping stream with OBS Studio
Install OBS and prepare a single recording
- Install OBS Studio on the computer that will run the broadcast. Keep the service recording on that computer or on storage that will remain connected and accessible.
- In the OBS Sources panel, click + and choose Media Source. Create a source, then browse to the service video file.
- In the Media Source properties, enable Loop to repeat that file. OBS documents common formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI and WebM; see OBS Media Sources.
- Use the OBS preview to confirm the video fits the canvas and the audio meters respond. Play the recording through and check its opening and ending before relying on it for a public stream.
Use a playlist when rotating services
- Install VLC on the OBS computer; OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC to be installed.
- In OBS, click + in Sources and add a VLC Video Source.
- Add the service recordings to its playlist in the order you want them to play, then enable Loop Playlist.
- Preview the playlist and verify that each file plays with the expected sound and picture before going live. OBS’s instructions are in Media Sources.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, choose Create → Go Live. Create a stream or select an existing one in Live Control Room.
- In OBS, open Settings → Stream. Select YouTube if offered, or enter the YouTube server URL and stream key shown for the selected stream in Live Control Room.
- Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the broadcast. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before streaming.
- Start streaming in OBS. Check the Live Control Room preview and confirm the correct recording, audio and visibility before starting the YouTube broadcast.
- Keep OBS running and monitor the stream. When ending a planned broadcast, stop the stream in OBS and verify its status and archive in Studio.
Choose between a local computer, cloud service and hardware
The right setup depends on who can keep it running, how much oversight volunteers can provide, and what controls the church needs. YouTube’s verified-encoder guidance lists cloud and hardware options as well as software encoders; it is a list to evaluate, not a requirement to buy a dedicated product.

You cannot start a live broadcast
Check channel verification and live-stream eligibility, including whether a restriction was applied in the preceding 90 days. If live streaming has not been activated before, allow up to 24 hours after enabling it, as YouTube’s setup guidance advises.

YouTube does not receive the OBS stream
Confirm that OBS is using the server URL and stream key for the selected YouTube stream, and check that the encoder is actually streaming. If the key was copied incorrectly or exposed, obtain or reset it in Studio and update OBS. Look at Live Control Room for the stream preview and status.

The video or playlist does not play
In OBS, check the Media Source file path and playback preview. For a VLC Video source, confirm VLC is installed, the playlist files are accessible and the playlist loop option is enabled. If the computer restarts or a drive disconnects, restore file access and restart the encoder.

The broadcast stops or is replaced
Check the computer’s power and internet connection, then inspect Live Control Room for encoder status and the Studio dashboard for copyright or Community Guidelines notices. A local encoder cannot continue if the computer or connection goes offline. For a licensed third-party match, contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting before restarting.
The archive is missing or incomplete
Check the stream duration and the archive’s visibility in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s automatic archive statement covers streams under 12 hours; it does not promise one complete archive for an indefinitely running broadcast. Plan segments accordingly and confirm the resulting archive after each stream.
