What “continuous” means on YouTube
Plan a dependable sequence of scheduled cricket-game broadcasts rather than promising an uninterrupted perpetual stream. YouTube’s current encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; its documentation does not establish reliable automatic archiving for longer sessions. If keeping replays matters, schedule separate sessions shorter than 12 hours and plan how someone will monitor and restart them after a disruption.

Select a game your PC can run while encoding
Cricket 24 is one PC example: Steam lists it as a sports simulation developed by Big Ant Studios and published by Nacon, with a release date of 4 October 2023. Its listed minimum requirements include Windows 10/11, 8 GB RAM, an entry-level listed GPU, broadband, and 60 GB of storage. Those are store-listed minimums, not a guarantee the computer can play and encode at your desired quality simultaneously. Check the current storefront, edition and platform availability in India, and your machine’s specifications before buying.

Confirm YouTube access and publisher terms
Before planning a broadcast, verify your channel and confirm that live streaming is available to it. YouTube says a verified channel with no live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days can stream; the minimum age for live streaming is 16. First-time live activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it well ahead of your first scheduled match.
Check the selected game publisher’s current terms for streaming and commercial use. YouTube says monetization of gameplay depends on the publisher’s commercial-use rights. It warns that “Videos simply showing a user playing a video game or the use of software for extended periods of time may not be accepted for monetization.” No Cricket 24-specific streaming license is established here, so do not assume permission or promise YouTube Partner Program revenue.

What you need for a PC gameplay stream
- A PC capable of running the cricket game and encoding the broadcast at your chosen settings.
- A verified YouTube channel with live streaming enabled.
- OBS Studio or another encoder. YouTube lists OBS as a software encoder; it is open-source and free, so paid encoding software is not a basic requirement.
- A stable internet connection with sustained upload capacity above the stream’s bitrate, leaving room for variation.
- Optional: a microphone and headset for commentary and audio monitoring. Neither is a YouTube prerequisite.
- Optional for a console-to-PC workflow: an HDMI capture card. It is not needed for a PC game or for a console using its own built-in streaming feature.
Set up a recurring cricket gameplay broadcast
- Enable YouTube live access. Verify the channel and enable live streaming in YouTube Studio. If this is the channel’s first live broadcast, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Install and configure the encoder. Install OBS or another YouTube-supported encoder. In OBS, add a Game Capture source for the game where practical, or capture the display if game capture is unsuitable. Add the game’s audio; add a microphone if you will commentate. Arrange a readable layout and check that gameplay remains visible at the intended output resolution.
- Create a scheduled stream in YouTube Studio. Set the title, description, visibility, audience and scheduled start time. Choose a horizontal or vertical format based on your production and audience needs. YouTube says vertical live streams can appear in the Shorts feed and support certain fan-funding features depending on eligibility; horizontal streams support clickable links and live pre- and mid-roll ads. These are format-specific features, not a promise of reach or eligibility.
- Copy the stream details into the encoder. In the scheduled stream’s settings in YouTube Studio, copy the server URL and stream key into the encoder’s streaming settings. Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your channel. Use RTMPS where the encoder offers it.
- Set and test video output. YouTube recommends H.264, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval. Its recommended H.264 bitrate range is 5–14 Mbps for 1080p30 and 6–17 Mbps for 1080p60. These are encoder-to-YouTube recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular Indian internet connection can sustain them. Start with a bitrate your sustained upload test supports, with capacity left for network variation.
- Check the preview before going live. Start streaming from the encoder, then wait for the YouTube Studio preview. Confirm the game image, game sound and microphone are present and balanced. Start the broadcast in Studio when the preview is ready, following the scheduled stream’s controls.
- Monitor the session and prepare the next one. Watch for dropped frames, buffering, audio drift or a disconnected encoder. Assign someone to monitor and restart the broadcast if it stops. If replay preservation matters, end and schedule each session before it reaches 12 hours rather than relying on an undocumented archive outcome for longer streams.
Choose format and commentary deliberately
Make the broadcast more than an unattended game feed
Commentary can explain tactics, controls, field settings, match situations or the decisions behind a shot. Tie what you say to the action on screen and add instructional or educational value. This can make the program more useful to viewers, but it does not guarantee monetization; publisher rights and YouTube’s policies still apply.

Choose horizontal or vertical based on the experience
Horizontal is suited to a conventional gameplay layout and offers clickable links plus live pre- and mid-roll ads where available. Vertical live can be discoverable in the Shorts feed and has different feature trade-offs. Choose the layout that keeps gameplay legible and supports the way you intend to interact; neither format guarantees a larger audience.
Protect the live stream and its replay
- Use only gameplay, music, commentary and other audio you have the right to transmit. Avoid broadcast footage and unlicensed music.
- YouTube says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A detected match can cause YouTube to replace the image, interrupt or terminate a stream.
- Even licensed material may require the rights holder to allowlist your channel in Content ID. A completed live broadcast can also receive a copyright claim after it is archived.
- Review your archive settings and decide whether to keep or remove each replay. A live broadcast and its replay can raise separate rights and moderation questions.
- Moderate chat and use YouTube’s available controls to address disruptive messages while you focus on the match.
Troubleshooting common problems

Cost and operating choices
OBS is a no-cost encoder option, but running the stream yourself means the game-playing and encoding PC, internet connection and monitoring plan must remain available during each broadcast. A hosted cloud service is a separate operating choice for keeping a YouTube stream going from uploaded videos rather than from a live camera or active home PC. The cost comparison depends on your existing equipment, connection and the amount of time you intend to stream.
