To run recorded SSC exam lessons as a 24/7 YouTube broadcast, send the recordings to YouTube Live through an encoder: software on a computer, a cloud streaming service, or dedicated hardware. YouTube does not turn an ordinary upload or playlist into a livestream by itself. Before going live, confirm channel eligibility, secure rights to every lesson and included element, and plan around YouTube’s 12-hour archive threshold.
Before you set up the stream
Check that the channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. The person streaming must be at least 16. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable and test live streaming ahead of your planned launch. Do not try to bypass an active restriction by streaming through another channel; YouTube prohibits that while the restriction remains active. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.

Confirm rights to the lessons and everything in them
Get permission to livestream each recording and its components, including slides, book pages, music, graphics, and recordings of other people. Check that permission covers the territories you intend to reach and any archive or on-demand use you want to retain. Calling a lesson educational does not, by itself, establish permission to rebroadcast it.

YouTube says all livestreams are scanned for matches to third-party content. A match can prompt a warning or placeholder and may interrupt or terminate the stream if the material remains. YouTube also warns that a licensed stream can still be interrupted if the rights holder has not added the channel to its Content ID allowlist. A Content ID claim may also appear on the archive after the live stream ends. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Choose how to send the recordings to YouTube
An encoder converts video into a format YouTube can receive as a live feed. The right route depends on whether you can keep and monitor equipment locally, how much automation you need, and who will respond if the feed stops.
| Route | Local computer needed? | Recorded playback | Failure response and monitoring | Cost and support information |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Computer and software encoder, such as OBS | Yes. The computer, encoder, and internet connection need to remain available while streaming. | Use the encoder to play the lesson files and arrange scenes or a playlist. You must configure and check the playback workflow. | You or your team need to watch the feed and restart it if the software, computer, or connection fails. | YouTube’s encoder directory lists OBS as free and open-source. Other costs and support terms are not stated in the cited YouTube directory. |
| Cloud streaming service | No dedicated streaming computer at your location is required by this approach. | YouTube’s encoder directory lists Gyre for cloud-based 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos. Check the service’s current scheduling and file-handling details before choosing it. | Check what monitoring and recovery the particular service provides; the directory listing does not establish comparative reliability or a specific recovery guarantee. | Pricing and support terms are not stated in the cited YouTube directory. |
| Dedicated hardware encoder | AJA HELO Plus is listed for scheduling prerecorded media to YouTube Live without a computer. | YouTube’s directory identifies its PlayToStream feature for scheduled prerecorded playback. | Plan who will check the hardware and respond to a stopped feed; the directory does not establish comparative reliability or automatic recovery. | Pricing and support terms are not stated in the cited YouTube directory. |
YouTube describes encoder options and maintains a directory at YouTube Live’s encoder page. Product listings are not a guarantee of uptime. Whichever route you choose, treat the stream key as a credential: give it only to the encoder or service that needs it, and never publish it.

Create and connect the YouTube livestream
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. Create a livestream or schedule one in Live Control Room.
- Set the broadcast details. Enter a clear title and description, choose visibility, and set the schedule if you are preparing a future start. Select the audience designation accurately; do not choose a setting just to unlock features.
- Copy the connection details. In the stream’s settings, locate the YouTube stream URL and stream key. In your encoder, select YouTube if that option is available; otherwise enter the server URL and key in the corresponding fields. Ensure the key matches the one shown for that stream. YouTube’s production guide notes that a mismatched key prevents the stream from starting.
- Configure the recorded playback. Load the intended lesson files in their correct order. Set up looping or scheduled playback if your chosen encoder supports it, and decide how the feed will transition between lessons or sessions. The exact controls depend on the software or device.
- Send the feed, then check the preview. Start streaming from the encoder and wait for the incoming picture and sound to appear in Live Control Room. Check the actual lesson content before making the broadcast public.
- Start the broadcast in YouTube when ready. In a scheduled workflow, sending the encoder feed and selecting Go Live in Live Control Room are separate actions. Confirm the preview and then start the broadcast there.
Keep the stream key private even when sharing access with a helper. If you believe it has been exposed, replace it in Live Control Room and update the encoder using the new key.

Test the lesson feed and plan monitoring
Before launch, run a private or otherwise appropriately restricted test with the files and sequence you plan to broadcast. Check the stream in Live Control Room and, where practical, on a separate playback device.

- Confirm spoken explanations are audible and not drowned out by music or other audio.
- Check that formulas, diagrams, and slide text are readable at the size viewers are likely to use.
- Verify lesson order, transitions, and the return to the beginning of the loop.
- Watch for a blank frame, frozen playback, unexpected desktop notifications, or an encoder scene that exposes material not intended for broadcast.
- During the live run, monitor YouTube’s stream status, picture, sound, and chat where relevant. Decide in advance who will respond if the feed or connection stops.
A test can expose setup problems, but it cannot establish uninterrupted future operation. Keep source lesson files separately so a stopped stream or missing archive does not leave you without the originals.
Design the schedule around YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not treat one continuous 24-hour broadcast as a guaranteed 24-hour archive. If you need a YouTube archive, plan shorter sessions that remain under 12 hours, with a deliberate restart between them, and confirm the current archive behavior in YouTube Help before relying on it. Preserve original lesson recordings independently and upload them separately if they need to remain available on demand.

- PROFESSIONAL LIGHTING, 5 MODES & 5 BRIGHTNESS LEVELS — A CRI 90+ LED panel spans 3000–7200K, from warm to cool white, with 5 brightness levels and a memory function that saves your favorite setting. Rotates 180° and hooks onto your monitor for the perfect angle every time.
- WORKS RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX—Compatible with Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS for streaming, video calls, and content creation. Note: PS5/Xbox streaming requires a capture card (sold separately) to connect this kit to your console.
Shorter scheduled broadcasts require more restart planning and may create multiple live events and archives. A continuous feed may suit the live channel, but it does not remove the need to retain source files or decide what viewers should be able to watch later.
Set audience and monetization expectations accurately
Choose the audience setting that truthfully describes the lessons and intended audience. YouTube says a made-for-kids designation disables live chat and live chat replay and disables personalized ads on streams and Premieres. Feature availability also differs between horizontal streams and the vertical live feed; check YouTube’s current feature guidance rather than assuming every display format supports the same tools.

Continuous uptime does not establish audience size or earnings. YouTube says livestream monetization is available to channels in the YouTube Partner Program, subject to eligibility and platform rules. Meeting those conditions and earning revenue are separate from keeping a feed online. Review YouTube’s live-streaming guidance for current eligibility information.
Common problems and what to check
- No incoming preview: Check that the encoder is sending to the correct YouTube server URL and that the stream key matches the selected event. Confirm the encoder is actually transmitting and that the computer or device has an internet connection.
- YouTube receives the feed, but the event has not started: For a scheduled workflow, verify the preview first and select Go Live in Live Control Room; starting the encoder alone may not start the YouTube broadcast.
- The stream stops or shows a warning: Check Live Control Room for a status message or copyright warning. If third-party material is flagged, stop using it unless you have resolved the rights issue; a licence may not prevent interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel.
- The archive is missing or shorter than expected: Check whether the broadcast reached 12 hours or more. YouTube’s automatic archive statement applies to streams under 12 hours, not a guarantee of an archive for a 24-hour broadcast.
- Audio or slides are wrong: Inspect the source recording and the encoder’s selected audio and video inputs. Check the Live Control Room preview rather than relying only on the local encoder display.
- The feed does not restart after a disconnect: Identify whether the encoder, local computer, internet connection, or hosted service stopped sending. Restart the feed using the correct event and credentials, then verify the preview before resuming. Do not assume every encoder or service recovers automatically.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you prefer not to keep a computer running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload the lesson recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud keeps the feed running without your computer or home connection staying on. It supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
StreamNeo is for prerecorded uploads streamed to YouTube, not a camera-based broadcast. Check lesson rights and plan your YouTube archive schedule independently. Start your free first day with StreamNeo.
