1. Choose music and document the rights
Start with tracks you composed or recorded, or music for which you have written permission covering the exact uses you intend. For each track, keep a record of the composition and sound-recording owners, permission or license, term, territories, livestream use, archived playback, monetization terms, attribution requirements, and the rights holder’s Content ID contact or allowlisting process. This is a practical recordkeeping approach, not a checklist YouTube prescribes.
YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions put responsibility on the creator to have the necessary rights for live content, including music rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. They do not determine which permissions a specific Odia catalog requires. 2. Build a distinctive program
Give the channel a meaningful editorial identity rather than extending one interchangeable loop indefinitely. Consider original performances or arrangements, distinct programs by instrument or theme, seasonal or regional selections, and useful track identification or notes. These are production recommendations, not YouTube requirements. The aim is to make the listening experience and each program genuinely distinct.
Permission to use music and eligibility for monetization are separate questions. YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams and say monetized content should be original and authentic rather than generic, repetitive, or mass-produced. Reviewers may consider the channel’s theme, popular and newest videos, watch-time-heavy content, metadata, and About section. The policy does not say every music loop is automatically ineligible; repetitive or near-identical output is a risk, not a guaranteed decision.

3. Create the stream and connect an encoder
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and choose the encoder workflow. Follow the current instructions in YouTube’s live-stream setup guide; interface labels and available options can change.
- Configure your encoder for the stream using the settings and stream details YouTube provides for that broadcast. Use an encoder workflow that fits your production setup; the cited YouTube guidance does not endorse a particular product, computer, or bandwidth threshold.
- Send a test signal and confirm in YouTube Studio that video and audio arrive as intended. Check levels, transitions, and track identification before treating the broadcast as ready for viewers.
- For continuous operation, assign someone or an alerting process to notice a dropped stream, muted audio, rights warning, or encoder fault. Decide who will restart the encoder and stream, and how to stop the broadcast if a rights issue appears. This is operational advice, not a YouTube uptime guarantee or a required monitoring service.
4. Monitor the live stream and any archive
Check YouTube Studio for warnings and restrictions while the stream is running. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; if it identifies such content, a placeholder may replace the stream, and YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream if the content remains. If you choose to archive the broadcast, YouTube says Content ID claims are made after the live stream is completed. Plan for both the live broadcast and the recording that may remain on the channel.
Can I use copyrighted music if I have permission?
Permission is necessary when you do not own the relevant rights, but it may not prevent a live interruption by itself. YouTube warns that a stream can still be interrupted when a rights owner has not allowlisted the channel, even if the creator has licensed the track. Ask the rights holder about adding your channel to its Content ID allowlist before relying on licensed music. Do not assume that a library’s ordinary “royalty-free” or video license automatically covers continuous live broadcasting, archived playback, every intended territory, and monetization. Verify the actual grant and its limits with the licensor. When assessing a license or rights source, check:
- Whether live streaming is expressly covered.
- Whether an archived recording may remain available.
- Which territories are covered.
- Whether monetization is permitted.
- The license term, renewal, and any usage limits.
- Required attribution.
- How the rights holder handles Content ID claims and channel allowlisting.
These checks are due diligence based on YouTube’s rights responsibility and interruption guidance, not a YouTube scoring system or a legal determination for any particular catalog.

Creator Music is not live-stream clearance
YouTube’s Creator Music FAQ states: “Currently, Creator Music doesn’t support licensing for live content.” The FAQ describes access as rolling out to U.S. YouTube Partner Program creators, with expansion outside the U.S. pending. Availability can change, so check the current FAQ; do not treat Creator Music as permission for a live broadcast.

Reduce avoidable rights and operational risks by verifying permissions before going live, asking about allowlisting, testing the signal, and watching for warnings or failures. If YouTube flags music, follow the rights holder’s guidance and YouTube’s notices; do not assume that restarting the encoder resolves a rights issue.

- Content ID warning or placeholder: Check the relevant YouTube Studio notice and identify the track. Confirm that the license covers live use and contact the rights holder about allowlisting. If the rights position is unclear, stop the affected content rather than repeatedly restarting it.
- Stream drops or encoder stops sending: Have an assigned person or alerting process notice the failure, check the encoder and connection, and follow the restart plan. YouTube’s cited setup materials do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
- Picture arrives but audio is missing or muted: Check the encoder’s audio input and output path, then confirm the received sound in Studio before leaving the broadcast unattended.
- Archive receives a claim after the broadcast: Review the claim and the relevant license terms. YouTube says Content ID claims are made after a live stream is completed when it is archived; keep permissions and rights-holder contact details available.
Can I monetize a 24/7 music channel?
Possibly, if the channel qualifies for applicable YouTube monetization features and continues to meet the relevant policies, but continuous broadcasting does not itself guarantee revenue. YouTube’s monetization rules apply to live streams and assess originality at the channel level. A license may address a music-rights issue without addressing whether a channel’s programming is sufficiently original and varied. Design broadcasts around real creative contribution, and avoid presenting mass-produced, near-identical loops as distinct programs.
Creator Music does not resolve this for live broadcasting: YouTube’s current FAQ says it does not support licensing for live content. No audience-size, growth, uptime, or earnings figure is established here for Odia instrumental livestreams, so do not use a projected market size or revenue estimate to make a business case.
