To run a 24/7 YouTube Live soundscape, prepare audio and visuals you own or are licensed to use, enable live streaming on your channel, then send a continuous feed through an encoder or a cloud streaming service. The feed must keep reaching YouTube for the broadcast to stay live. Plan for interruptions, protect your stream key, and keep your own recording if you need a complete archive: YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all.
Before you start
- Enable live streaming in advance. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live streaming help.
- Prepare rights-cleared sound and images. The safest route is to record your own chimes and ambient audio and create your own visuals. Keep original files and any written permissions or licenses.
- Choose how the feed will run. A local encoder needs a computer, power, and a stable internet connection to remain available. A cloud service can play uploaded prerecorded media without a computer running at home.
- Decide whether you need a complete replay. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Make a local recording if preserving the full broadcast matters.
1. Make the soundscape and visuals
Record or license the audio
For the clearest rights position and the most distinctive channel, record your own wind and chime audio. Keep the original recordings, project files, and notes about processing. If the sound was not recorded in the Himalayas, do not label it as a Himalayan field recording; describe its actual origin accurately.

If you use third-party audio or visuals, read the license carefully and retain proof of permission. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A license does not necessarily prevent an interruption: YouTube says a rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Build a feed that can run continuously
Prepare a video-and-audio feed that can play for the duration you intend to broadcast. A static image, changing visuals, or a repeating video can all serve as the visual component, but make the presentation accurately represent the sound and recording. Test playback and audio levels before going live. Keep a local copy of the finished source media.

2. Create the stream in YouTube Studio
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Create → Go Live.
- In Live Control Room, use the Stream tab to create or configure the stream. You can schedule the broadcast if you want to announce it before starting.
- Copy the YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder or streaming service, following that product’s current setup instructions. YouTube’s encoder setup is documented in its live encoder help.
- Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it, show it in a screen capture, or share it with anyone who should not control your broadcast. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before continuing.
- Start sending the feed from the encoder or service. In Live Control Room, wait for the preview and check that both picture and sound are present; then start the broadcast as prompted for your stream setup.
Encoder settings
There is no single bitrate, resolution, or codec setting that fits every source and encoder. Use YouTube’s current live encoder settings guidance and your encoder’s documentation for the values that match your chosen resolution and frame rate. The sources cited here do not establish a specific recommended setting for this soundscape, so do not copy a number from an unrelated preset without checking its fit.
3. Choose how to keep the broadcast running

4. Account for YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube says broadcasts under 12 hours are automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A 24/7 broadcast should therefore not be treated as a guaranteed complete YouTube replay. Record locally if you need a full copy. Dividing the programming into shorter broadcasts can make archiving more practical, but it interrupts the experience of one continuous stream.
5. Protect the channel and its monetization prospects
Copyright and live interruptions
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. Depending on the match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, warn you, interrupt it, or terminate it; copyright or Community Guidelines consequences may also apply. A license may not be enough to avoid a live interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Confirm permissions for both the live transmission and any archived use.

Repetitive programming and monetization
YouTube’s channel monetization policy, updated July 15, 2025, renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” to clarify that repetitive or mass-produced material is ineligible. The policy says monetized content should be original and authentic, and reviewers may consider the channel’s theme, videos, metadata, and overall context. A repeating ambient stream is not automatically decided by the policy pages alone, but a channel built around minimally changed or mass-produced loops may face monetization risk. Copyright permission does not by itself establish eligibility.
