To create a 24/7 relaxation-music destination on YouTube, prepare a looping audio-and-visual program, send it through an encoder to a YouTube Live stream, and monitor the broadcast and its connection. You can run the encoder on a computer, use suitable standalone hardware, or use a cloud service. A 24/7 channel goal is not the same as a guarantee that one YouTube broadcast event can run indefinitely: test how your chosen setup handles interruptions and restarts before promising continuous service.
What you need before going live
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days. YouTube says streamers must be at least 16 years old.
- An audio/video program you have permission to livestream, plus an encoder that can send it to YouTube.
- A stable internet connection with enough upload capacity for the encoder’s total bitrate.
- Time to activate and test the workflow. YouTube says first-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours.

Choose how to keep the program running
Software encoder on a computer
A computer running an encoder is a flexible starting point if you already have suitable equipment. The computer and its internet connection must remain available for as long as they are responsible for sending the stream. Check that your encoder can play or loop your prepared media as intended, and test what happens if the program or connection stops.
Standalone hardware encoder
YouTube supports hardware encoders as well as software. Its encoder directory lists the AJA HELO Plus and describes its PlayToStream capability for scheduled prerecorded media without a computer. This is an optional appliance route, not a requirement; confirm that the device’s workflow, availability, and cost suit your needs before buying.

Prepare a relaxation program that works as a loop
Make a stable audio/video file or sequence for the encoder to send. For relaxation music, listen for abrupt cuts at loop points, and check that any visual loop, overlays, title, and stream description match what viewers will actually see and hear. YouTube’s general encoder guidance does not prescribe a special relaxation-music playlist format or guarantee seamless looping, so verify playback in your encoder before scheduling a public stream.

Keep a copy of the final media and a note of its order if you are using a playlist. This makes it easier to identify a missing file, unexpected transition, or incorrect sequence during a test. Use only material for which you have the necessary rights for livestreaming and any replay you intend to leave available.

- Enable live streaming early. Verify that the channel meets YouTube’s eligibility requirements. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation, as YouTube notes that it may take that long.
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live, then follow the Stream workflow. You can create a stream or reuse previous settings. Scheduling ahead of time creates a watch page viewers can visit in advance.
- Connect the encoder. If your encoder offers a YouTube sign-in or destination, select YouTube and follow its connection steps. Otherwise, copy the server/stream URL and stream key shown in YouTube and enter them in the encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not share it or expose it in a recording or screenshot. If it is compromised, reset it in YouTube’s stream settings.
- Set viewer controls deliberately. Review the stream settings for DVR and auto-start/auto-stop. DVR lets viewers pause and rewind where enabled. Auto-start and auto-stop affect how a connected encoder starts or ends a broadcast; they do not establish an indefinite-restart system.
- Start the encoder and inspect the preview. Wait for the Live Control Room preview, then check picture, sound, and stream metadata before starting the public broadcast.

Set bitrate and upload capacity with headroom
Your connection must be able to carry the encoder’s total bitrate. YouTube says total streaming bitrate cannot exceed available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% headroom. For example, if your chosen stream bitrate is 5 Mbps, allow at least 6.25 Mbps of available upload capacity to preserve that 20% margin. This is a planning calculation, not a guarantee of stability: actual capacity can vary, and other devices or streams may use the connection too.
- Test upload performance on the connection the encoder will actually use, at the time and location you expect to stream.
- Account for all outgoing stream data if more than one encoder contribution or stream will be active.
- If the preview stutters or the connection fluctuates, reduce the encoder’s total bitrate or use a more reliable connection, then test again.

The cited general guidance does not establish one required bitrate, resolution, or keyframe interval for every relaxation stream; use settings supported by your encoder and current YouTube recommendations, then validate the result in the preview.

Test access, audio, and recovery before relying on the stream
- Run a test stream before the planned public launch, especially if this is your first encoder setup.
- Check the Live Control Room preview for video, audio level, interruptions, and unexpected transitions.
- Open the watch page as a viewer, including on a mobile device, to confirm that the event is accessible and displays the expected title and description.
- Monitor audio and video quality continuously after going live. A clean preview at launch does not show how the setup will behave over a long period.
- Test your encoder’s restart and reconnection behavior. Decide who will notice a stopped stream and how it will be brought back online.
YouTube recommends advance setup, preview checks, test streams for people new to the workflow, and ongoing monitoring in its streaming tips. Its standard encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not promise that a single event can run indefinitely, nor does it specify a universal 24/7 restart design. If continuity across event limits or interruptions matters, validate your chosen encoder or service and consider whether a sequence of scheduled streams better fits the channel.
Clear the music rights for live and replay use
YouTube’s livestream terms say the provider represents and warrants that it has the necessary rights for worldwide use of live content, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses), and other royalty participants. That responsibility applies to your actual catalog and intended use. Keep records for both compositions and sound recordings, and check that permissions cover livestreaming in the territories you serve and any archived replay you leave available.

Do not assume that a “royalty-free” label or a license for on-demand videos automatically covers a live broadcast and its replay. Common problems and what to check
- You cannot start a live stream: check channel verification, any live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days, and whether first-time activation is still pending. YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours.
- The encoder does not connect: confirm that the selected destination is YouTube and that the stream URL and key match the current Live Control Room settings. Reset a key if you suspect it has been exposed.
- The preview is missing or the broadcast is not visible to viewers: wait for the encoder feed in Live Control Room, inspect the preview, and verify the watch page and event settings from a viewer’s perspective, including on mobile.
- Audio or video stutters: compare the encoder’s total bitrate with available upload capacity, restore YouTube’s recommended 20% bandwidth headroom, and test again. Also check for competing network use.
- The music has a seam, gap, or unexpected transition: inspect the source file and playlist order, then test the loop in the encoder before returning to the public stream.
- The stream stops during a long run: check whether the encoder, computer, connection, or event ended; then test the chosen recovery procedure. YouTube’s under-12-hour archive guidance is not a promise of indefinite event continuity.
- A rights claim or restriction appears: review the permissions for the specific composition and recording, including live, territory, and replay coverage; do not assume a general royalty-free label settles the issue.
